The LuncheoNETTE

Absolutely amazing, my computer was on my patio when I came home today. I sent it one week ago wed nov 2nd and here it is all fixed and at my door. hey replaces the power ac adapter, it apparently wasnt powerful enough??? They also did a cleaning and a heat source something or other. I am happy once again and able to feel normal. Last night we had a guest for dinner and I needed to come online to look up a recipe I was unsure on and well it still was unnatural not to be able to do that.
Punbk love your avatar very cool. My best friend in Mason Illinios collects pigs and I got her one with wings for christmas like your avatar.
I cant catch up, I feel so lost with the millions of posts. Everyone is a busy beaver knitting away. I have to say I got a lot more done, 6 more washcloths, my entire house with the exception of the garage and 3 closets were cleaned top to bottom, one whole day spent bleaching the patio and scrubbing the cement and pool cage , looks awesome already. My sewing room is mostly organized, until I get new shelving installed in the closet.
Getting ready for vacation, a long awaited much needed one. I been stir crazy and itching for someone to wait on my for a while. Let someone else cook and make the beds, yeah thats the ticket.
I order from knit pics and recieved an email it was shipped Nov 2nd and I am still waiting for delivery. I am looking out the window daily and hoping it arrives very soon. Does it take lone for delivery usually?
The next bog project now is new plants to replace the ones who were whipped to their deaths from Wilma. We decided to replace the trees with fruit trees and found a nice one called pink lemonaid, veragated leaves very pretty. Thinking tangerine as well.
I have two burns on my hands, blistered and sore. That is how experienced I am at cooking for a group of people, I was so nervous i kept messing up.

Welcome back!! We missed you!! I’m glad your computer is fixed. It’s amazing how much we get used to having them- you don’t really realize just how much until it isn’t there.
Where are you going to go on vacation?

Welcome back!! It’s amazing how much you can get done when you don’t have the computer to distract you, huh! But it is also amazing how quickly we become dependent on them. Anything you want to know or wonder about–go to the computer to look it up. Sometimes you get 125,846,349 results, but what’re ya gonna do!

Hi Nette! :waving: Welcome back!!!
You have been a busy beaver
I highly highly recommend getting a tangelo tree - for those who don’t know, it’s a hybrid of oranges and tangerines, and they are so juicy and a lot sweeter than regular oranges, but much bigger than tangerines. But (and this is speaking from experience, my parents have an orange and a grapefruit tree) don’t get any fruit trees unless you really like the fruit!! They produce a lot, and most of my parents’ goes in the garbage. :frowning:

Don’t worry about the whole cooking thing - I love cooking for a lot of people, and invariably end up with either myself or the food burned - as long as y’all had fun!

Welcome back Nette!!! Great your computer was so well fixed. We missed you!

Got back from my cruise to costa rica and panama, sick almost the entire time and still struggling with bronchitus. I did knit a bit on my trip, though i tended to be interupted alot with what are you knitting questions. met someone else on the ship who also was knitting and another lady who was needlepointing. I go on vacation to relax and sit back and do nothing and this was perfect for relaxing. Though 10 days was way too long away from my kitties, I missed them so much and they arent leaving my side since I have been home.
I been coughing so hard I think I was close to breaking a rib. Si I have ever reason to be lazy and not do housework and sit and knit. I never seem to have the yarn for what i feel like doing however. Isnt that always the case? I want to try badly handmade socks but feel a bit overwhelmed by it all. I think if i saw one in progress. Time to visit my LYS, i love her wools and think that would make me feel a little better faster, nice try huh? I discovered a pair of addis in the box of needles my mom sent me and i think they are wonderful. I am so happy to try them , what a nice pair of circulars they are, never felt anything smoother yet. I think i need to do a fill in order one day for more. I want to work on a kitty pi and discovered I dont quite get the whole circular double pointed business but once i do i am sure i can then tackle socks as well.

Welcome home! I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, but sometimes being home is what we need when we’re sick. That and knitting.

Welcome back Anette!! Sorry about the caughing!!! and the no knitting periods in vacation… which may probably be the cause of the flu…

Well, like you said, at least you will get lots of sit n knit time! Try the socks, they’re a lot easier than you think…

So did you get off the ship at all, or was this strictly a ‘cruise’ cruise? Let’s hear all about your wonderful international adventures!!!
:cheering: :cheering:

Good to have you back!!

Welcome back, Annette!! I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been sick- hope you’re feeling better soon!!

HUGS, Annette!

TELL ME ALL ABOUT COSTA RICA!!! I wanna compare notes!!

Oooh, that sounds like fun! Except the part about being sick, of course. :frowning:

well i feel a tiny bit better, enough to make french onion soup for dinner and a banana creme walnut cake for the other half here.
I thought Costa Rica had the friendliest people and was very depressed area. I did see a banana plantation and did a small amount of shopping in a town that smell like a sewer backed up. The people couldnt have been friendlier and had any more manners however. My old boss has a coffee farm and a ranch in costa rica so I was familiar a bit with some things. He use to bring back the tastiest wines, organic honey and wild organic grown coffee beans. He also brought back 4 cats once that he refused to leave behind. The health care is considered superior for the area, they attract on the western side a loit of american retirees and they are fairly equiped to care for them. I didnt see much of Panama. We did go through the canal and it was fascinating. The town of Cristobal which was the closet town we were told it was unsafe to enter. The amoount of money the canal makes amazes me that they would have areas unsafe for tourists to venture into. Our toll for the canal for the ships size was 245,600 dollars. There are tours and they take you into the brush and you can see indians living the way they have for hundreds of years. They are colorful and tattoo and still live naked. Their weavings were incredible and they were pleasant people. Their simple way of life was endearing and I didnt feel sorry for them as much as admire their lack of materialism and stress.
I think I have overdone on my washcloths. I found them so simple and fast but i have a much larger stack then I intended and now I am behind on other things. I have one clog nearly done and the other one didnt go as well. I think I might have not followed all the numbers correctly and need to find a way to rewrite the pattern easier for me to follow.
If I can tackle this knitting in the round I want to get moving on kitty beds, I have tons and tons of wool waiting for me to figure out the process.
I waited a month for the pool screening to be fixed inly to have the man not show up to do the work. I am at my wits end. I swear I am leaving florida one day and away from the crooks who reside and do business here. Fingers crossed that day will come easily enough. The thought of moving is just as bad as what i endure here, lol.

If anyone has a nice shrimp bisque recipe i would so love to be given any advice. I make a nice crab bisque but it is a white sauce and i am told a bisque should be pink in color.

I am still at a loss for some gifts. Every year I think I am covered and then discover I am still short or i changed my mind on a gift. I make a list and rewrite and do it over and over again. I dont know why I make it harder than it has to be. I think a couple woolen fleted bowls for snacks would make nice gifts as well, who knows unless I try it.

Where were you in Costa Rica? I agree about the people being very friendly. I heard the same about the american retirees and the healthcare system. Did you get to see any of the Cloud- or rainforests? Animals? Birds?

Sounds like a neat trip… sorry you got sick…

Hope you feel better soon.

well second doctor visit, and i have walking pneumonia, and I am on my second antiobiotics. This does give me a valid reason to sit on my butt and knit all day however, lol. Were actually making some wooden baskets, and wooden ornaments we make every year and we also send christmas cards to all the military hospitals ever year, so my knitting isnt as far along as I would like. I still am short 2 shawls, one scarf and a quit and a dozen clogs. I never can do all I hope to every year no matter when I start. One clog is done, not a pair, just one. My pair wasnt easy for me to come up with them matching exactly so I am back to the drawing board, I need a remedial clog class for sure.
I do have a very cool wooven scarf patterm I am dying to try. I picked it up at my local yarn shop along with some pretty turquoise wool to make it in. My lys is having a class in january on making socks with two circulars. I went in to buy dpn for trying socks and she told me about the class and how easy it was, so I am signing up for sure. I would love any advice on a fast one night hat for a man. My best friends husband I always like to include something in her box for him as well.

Oooh, walking pneumonia! That doesn’t sound like fun. :frowning: I’m sure that lots of knitting will help you recover quickly!

:frowning: Sorry you’re sick, but Yay :cheering: on the extra knitting time… There are quite a few patterns on the free patterns page for hats, but my favorite isthis one… especially if it’s a younger guy that you’re making the hat for. It’s done on staright needles and is super fast.

OH Annette! I hope ya feel MUCH better soon!

And, about the clogs…dont worry too much. you can felt one a bit more, stretch them into shape…they are pretty forgiving!

I am a felting freak,. lol
My kitty pi is more of a basket, even my petite little feline isnt going to fit, well maybe if i squish her in it. So hats have me intrigued. I am working on reshaping a pattern some how of what is in my mind. that may take a while, but these are easy quickies. One afternoon or evening worth of knitting. The purple fur is a little purse/bag not a hat. A child size and adult size.
