Oh my god! My hub was just doing searches on ladybugs!!!
He came running in and said They’re Asian ladybugs not the kind we grew up with! I have to go read that… we literally had thousands, I was out there with a hose spraying the garage doors and back porch for almost an hour. I guess I should have stopped like I was told to. But they were all over under my feet! Flying into my face, on my wrists…
yuk It was like a CRUEL HALLOWEEN JOKE,
The Ladybugs instead of The Birds
I’ll take the ladybugs–they won’t peck your eyes out!! :rofling:
I didn’t know they had a smell!
ooo i would have been scared. I am a wimp with flying objects. I did like ladybugs till i read your story, now I will imagine them on me.
I buy one or two of something pretty and end up with a lot of fancy stuff enough to accent but not enough to do an actual project with.
My aunt Annetta we called Aunt neddie or Nettie depending on who was calling. I love her, she is a funny old bird. Ever see mad tv Lorraine, well she reminds me of her only a little better dressed, not much though, LOL.
I lived with her for a few months after her husband died because we were way way out of civilation. No gas only propane for the house thats how far out and she was afraid so I stay till she sold her place, Anyway i grew a garden since we had acreage and had tons of romaine and stuff and one day I came home and it was gone, she mowed it with a lawn mower thinking she could help me faster picking it. A lawn mower doesnt leave much for the salad bowl and it was a riding mower at that. I had to wash my jeans and anythign with metal buttons on the old ringer washer in the garage so the new fangles modern one didnt get scratched on the inside.
I found out two of our dear friends are moving to Indianpolis. He is a doctor and wants to work at some childrens hospital there. I hope it is a nice place for them, I am dearly going to miss them both. They are looking forward to the better reasonable cost of living and buying their first home.
My best friend of 25 years who doesnt like wool decided she has to have a kitty pi bed. Does anyone know if they are washable after felting. I tried to explain felting and she said there is always fabreeze at least. Since she loves it I am thrilled to be able to actually make something for her, though she has 6 cats.
NOTE: My mom has neumonia, and I haven’t slept well. So my English is as poor as Zaire. Please forgive my errors.
VIC: Where have you been??? Scene of terror: the ladybugs. I can´t stand any flying bug, ANY. You are brave.
Anette: Great news about the lab!!! Can we see some pics? I love big dogs… I will have one someday.
The door rang and I forget everything I was going to answer… Posting later.
Hi hi! Oh, so funny with this lady bug thing. Relax! They were flying around like mad but it’s all over! My neighbor said they BITE but they didnt bite me! And Ingrid’s articles were so good, the guy said yes, you can take a hose (like I did ) and wash them down. But it didn’t do any good like my husband kept telling me! (except I think I killed 1,000) I guess you just have to let them do their thing. (And YES INGRID I think I did smell something, like a burning smell, wow!!! how weird is that?) They actually were flying into my face, aware I was attacking them. Oh geez, country life. Yesterday I saw a beautiful dead deer on top of a car… HUNTERS please explain it to me…
ISAMAR! All this acitivity here has made me think about doing my blog again, the one I never did! Thanks to Annette, I think I like these blogs after all, and why not, why shouldn't it? (I hope your husband doesn't go to Miami right now, it's too much aggravation when he could go in a few weeks and it will be better.) ???
Annette, that is so funny about the lawn mower and the greens, crazy! My aunt Nettie was also called Nattie or Nat, I never knew which one was her true name. And just like you said, she is a funny old bird, she’s in Michigan, she never left home and she is unbelievabe… she’s taken care of everyone in my family who got sick and died, incredible woman. I could and should write a whole story about her.
Also, I made a kitty pi bed. For my darling Toisie cat ( my girl who is 11 this year). But I don’t know what the heck happened, when I tried to felt it … well it’s as flat as a pancake. My husband Peter Pierre put it on his head and said “Pierre’s beret.” It was hilarious, like a huge flat beret. Anyhow, she sleeps ON it but is supposed to be IN IT like a round basket. Either I didn’t decrease enough to make it go up like a basket, or I used some unfeltable wool, but I didn’t, I don’t think? I don’t know what, it’s just flat … as… a pancake. But! I will try again! Kitty Pi beds are so cool.
oh my, I’m falling asleep in a cold bedroom…
night
:waving: Hi Annette! I’ve read through your blog again. I did it a while ago too, but somehow it appears I never posted. :??
First off, your QUILTS ARE GORGEOUS!!! You’re an inspiration!
That story of when you got your first siamese and thought it was growling and about to attack you, gave me SUCH a good laugh! Ha!! :roflhard:
I love #32 on your list, your vision of living on a farm with a ton of animals and growing lavendar and quilting on the porch. What a great vision! If you ever do this, I hope you’ll invite me over for tea sometime!
Red hair, green eyes and a scorpio! You’re awesome! Have we seen any pics of you yet? I’m a scorpio too, and grew up surrounded by scorpios. Happy birthday!
- I am divorced. The next one gets Shot that is a fact.
Spoken like a true Scorpio! :roflhard:
Did you know that KellyK just had a birthday last week, and is also a scorpio? Is KellyK not the most un-scorpio like person you’ve ever met? (That’s a compliment KK. ;)) I guess I probably seem unscorpio like too. The fact is, we Scorpios can be the sweetest people on the planet, and can even be very slow to anger–but if you do get us mad, watch out! I think if I were a mugger, I’d make a habit of asking my victims casually first if they were Scorpios, and run the other way if so. LOL.
I’m sorry about your hurricane damage. Glad you’re okay!
That’s so funny about your Aunt Annette! No buttons in the washing machine, that’s hysterical. And the lawn mower! :roflhard:
BTW, I think you have the best Blog name of all of us! LOVE it!
Thanks, Amy! Im only one day into Scorpio…maybe that’s it. :??
thanks Amy, that gave me many smiles and a chuckle as well.
I thought I would love to live on a farm, the hurricane which was mild in my case sure made me see I must be a spoiled brat and I am ashamed of myself. My roommate even said I am disappointed in you, i never saw you behave that way and I would pick you as the last person to complain. I wanted a burger and was pretty grumpy about Tuna two days in a row. I actually throw a mini hissy fit to go looking for a burger joint, we did the next day and I had to drive 15 miles up the road for a burger, but to defend myself just a smidgen, we got them for the neighbors as well.
Vic, my friend had tons of ladybugs where she lived, People use to ask her for them, suppose to be good for gardening. Maybe you can put them in buggy containers and sell them online to farmers. Save a ladybug life, relocate them to the country or something. Imagine the story you could write for ebay about the lady bug attacks and maybe you can get on David Letterman, heck send him a bug package.
Victoise, can you make new sides for you pi bed and sew them around it to make like a border around it. sorta like a scarf only narrow or wide i suppose and felt it and sew it around?
Isamar I sure do hope you mom gets better. I bet this is stressful for you.
I didnt get a lab yet, he finally made a positive statement about “if” we get a dog, so that at least is a start. it sure beats NO. Now I have to find one, I prefer an older dog already potty trained but I think I might have to get a puppy to get him use to the growing and size and being with a dog, This man never had a pet in his life, but he loves our cats and would od anything for them. He goes once a week to costco and buys them a broasted chicken for them because they love it he says.
Kk your party looked like a smashing success, must have been the frog jammas and that one day into scorpio personality.
Vic: Please, re-start your blog. I miss it A-LOT. My husband travel to Miami is now officially cancelled. Gracias al cielo. The office change this travel for one to Detroit in january.
(Im a scorpio too…).
Annette: Sorry about the lab misunderstanding. I know understand: you have finally convinced your huscabdn to adopt a lab!! I also prefer old dogs… but I never have one at first. Kika, my bichon, is now 11, but she was adopted 10 years and 6 months ago. Good luck in the searching.
Mom doing better. Thanks all for asking. Cya tomorrow…
Well I sent the knit picks site to me friend and ask her to pick out whatever colors as many as she liked for her kitty pi. I go to place an order and decide well more colors needed for other things, next thing I know I practically order overy color, sounds like fun to me. I hope I like this yarn, I usually am impatient and I love my LYS and end up buying lambs pride. If I love this yarn it is going to save me and I can do more pi beds. This I think I can handle since I made a tote I should be able to handle a cat bed, fingers crossed here.
My Laptop is 7 months old and has to go into the shop for fixing. It overheats and shuts itself down constantly in the middle of things. I have to jiggle the wire for a connection and pray it stays. The heat has somehow melted the wire. I dont know if there are computer rentals but I think I am going to need one or I will lose all communication from the outside world and that doesnt appeal to me.
Made Jumbo blueberry muffins last night, my roommate is happy. I never seen a man with such a sweet tooth. He can never get enough pies, donuts and so on. Looks like peanut butter cookies need to be made, that is a favorite in this house. I feed the birds them and the muffins as well. I been trying to see the wold parrots close up for so long and they just dont get close. There are areas here that have wild monkeys, one development was in the news because after the hurricane they worried about them but they came back for feedings and the residents hand feed them. I keep saying we should move over there. I would enjoy that every day. Imagine a monkey looking in your window, lol.
sorry to hear about the laptop :(. good luck with that. when I work from home I use a laptop and I worry about it overheating.
yes, a monkey peeking in the window looking for food would make my day .
lookign forward to seeing pics of your Kitty Pi beds. I’m thinking of making one for my princess after the holiday gift knitting is over.
I love the kitty pi bed! It was a fun project. Made one out of my own home-spun.
Good luck getting the computer fixed! Hot enough to melt a wire, eh? Definitely sounds abnormal! Is it still under warrenty?
Hi Nette! :waving: Can’t believe it took me so long to find your blog, but here I am!!!
Glad the hurricane didn’t hit you too bad, my DH’s grandmother (who is incredibly stubborn and always refuses to even consider evacuating  ) came through ok, but the little old ladies behind her lost their power for 3 days, and they took turns cooking lunch and dinner for everyone - she crabs about it, but I know she likes the company!
Hope your roomie caves to the Lab idea, they really are very sweet and every one we’ve ever had (and we’ve had at least 4 or 5) have been really sweet and loved the cats!
I’m gonna go for now, DS just came wandering downstairs, but I’ll be back soon!!
PS would love to share some writing with you sometime - do you have anything online? I love writing.com, free memberships too!
my author portfolioNot very up to date, but there’s a little bit there
Hi hi hi Annette. I actually went back to my club/gym yesterday and got back into exercising… 3 hours or so! And then got reinterested in writing (I’m supposed to be a writer heh heh but haven’t been writing for some months) and so I spent the afternoon reading a short story by Mary Gaitskill, online, and I guess I’m saying all this coz I haven’t been back since the ladybug episode! wow, my computer keys have frozen up, can’t use my backbutton, how weird…
what a drag about your computer. melted wire! I had to send mine in a few months ago for an overhaul. It’s been pretty good since then except for right now ? anyhoo, I like that idea of yours about the kitty pi bed, it’s thick and beautiful except for being flat as a pancake.
And my Toisie cat likes it even like it is. I’ll have to try that, knitting up some sides, maybe I can just pick up stitches and knit some more and create sides that stand up. I did use some Lamb’s Pride bulky. I’m not sure, I know a lot of people use the knitpicks but I think bulky is better for the pi bed. Oh, yeah, unless you use 2 strands held together, I forgot that.
Ladybugs on David Letterman! ! That’s funny. I think Ellen Degeneres would appreciate them more though then Letterman. Do you watch her? I used to LOVE her when she started, now she gets on my nerves. Too much of the same thing I guess. I know the part about them being good for the garden, yes, they eat aphids which destroy your flowers and veggies too I guess but nobody wants them now, with winter coming on! Oh actually these aren’t ‘ladybugs’ like we knew em, they are Asian beetles and unlike ladybugs, they bite although none bit me. yet That article Ingrid mentioned was funny to read, the guy said he actually used a snow shovel to scoop up all the dead ones. I’ll never do that again, try to hose them down, it’s ridiculous. duh
monkeyssssss, did ya see on the news last night they created the first “rest home” for chimpanzees, it’s in Louisiana. OUtdoors with all these neat woods and they hide watermelon in the trees, ha, and these are all the chimps that were in labs for years esp with the research of Aids, they overbred them so there are thousands or hundreds maybe, aging chimps and now they have a rest home.
ISAMAR, I hope your mum is feeling better… wait, I need to go over to your blog!
Nette, there are so many dogs under my window, I live on the upper west side of New York city and you would not believe how many dogs I see every single day. It’s wonderful, they make you feel so happy. big little woofy silly cute huge dogs all over the place.
okey doke, cfn. (ciao for now)
Well I am using the library computer, it sucks. My puter is sent to the company for repair. They sent me to UPS to drop it off, no bill to ship or anything. I am keeping my fingers crossed. It wasnt that old. I get very little time on here. and 30 min goes fast. I came to print some patterns as I am ready to knit my pi bed and I counted my dishcloths and could use maybe a dozen more. I sure am behind in everyones stunning works and cant wait to catch up.
I know with the cold weather setting in everyone is knitting away.
see ya all later.
oh Anette, Im sorry about this computer problem!!! Hope they change it for a tottally new one.
Blech, computer problems suck…
Can’t wait to see you back here soon!
hmmm… Party @ the LuncheoNette??
