Nette- I DID notice that you weren’t online, and was hoping that you were okay. Glad to hear that you are safe.
Im glad you’re okay, Annette!
You are OK!!! I’ve been thinking of you and my brother. With all the images on TV Im so thankfull that everybody I know is safe.
Its your birthday??? Wow, what a gift…
And yes, we did noticed you werent online… We missed you girl. We were worried about you.
Isamar is your brother in Miami? Have you heard is he ok? I think the broward county area recieved a lot of flooding. I hope you hear from him soon and put your mind at ease.
Was a real shitty birthday, I bought a sub and a bag of chips which i normally dont eat, decided on a junk food dinner to make me feel better. It didnt, I went to bed with a stomach ache. That’ll teach me.
HUGS, ANNETTE!!!
Annette, glad you are ok.
I’m sorry that you didn’t have a good birthday.
At least you can celebrate a birthday… although, sorry about you have a bad one.
My brother is OK. My husband works with him (online) and he brought me news about him everyday, since my bro can get on the msn this days. He doesn’t have light in his house, and it seems he wont for weeks. The office, Univision, is running on a Diesel plant. They get enough for the weekend. So… despite of, everything is OK.
Now, the sh*tty part: Three months ago, the office in Miami, planned a trip for my husband to Miami for this weekend. It is on hold now, but my brother (who is the direct boss of my husband) told him that the possibillties were high. We don’t understand why it would be helpfull. Without energy, and with the Autoshow of Miami cancelled, my husband doesn’t have any reall reason to go.
But if he goes… I will have to more subjects in my worry list: My bro, and my husband.
Do you have all services back?
I guess it’s a little late for me to wish you a happy birthday. I’m sorry it was so bad. Wilma has caused so much devastation. You’ll be in my prayers.
thansk Lucy, no problems all is well and back to normal , I understand the east coast is worse with water and still no electric. I am counting my blessing, turns out I am a wimp and I like modern convieneces who knew?
Miami is worse then us, but I think your husband would be safe. Though many restraurants and shops are closed, he might be looking for meals harder than one normally does. Hurrincane season ends this month and all should be better. Of course tourist season will be in full swing and the snow birds head back so traffic and prices rise. Order your ball of yarn and have it sent to your brother. Do you have media mail for postal charges, you coul dhave your subscriptions sent to miami and forwarded media.
Still no confirmation for the travel. But in case he does travel, he will stay with my brother, a gret survivor cook, so I hope food wont be a major problem.
I don’t fully understand the media mail… Anyhoo, I think i will stay with Vogue Knitting. Cause I didn’t fall for interweave, shich is the only one besides VK that ships to Mexico.
What is media mail Nette? I need a Sesame Street explanation…
Media mail is just a cheaper way to mail books, videos and material like that. You get a lower price on mailing then if it was in a regular box.
Hi annette! Those pix are something. A few hours of candles are fun but that ends quickly. We went through a lot of worry over my husband’s mum who lives in Ft. Lauderdale. She is 92
can ya imagine, was without electricity or water for 4 days then they took off (4 little old ladies) to a Cape Coral I think it is motel.
You guys were lucky! The wierdest thing is the morning after the storm, my mil looks out and there are police everywhere, the guard fell in the pool and drowned. Not from the storm, completely another story. Isn’t that weird?
I celebrated my birthday last Mon the 17th sick as a dog, in bed & on the couch knitting all day (that part was good). But I have to say I got sick from walking around at the Wool & Sheep festival in the cold, sooooo it was worth it.
ciao for now, Vic
Man I would have been worried about your MIL but sounds like she is doing ok. I am sorry you were sick on your birthday, that doesnt sound like fun but a wool sheep festival I would have willing taken on a plague possible to go. Did you buy any spectaular goodies or see any demos? The story with the police is weird? What the heck happened. sounds like a freak accident.
Since you mentioned dog ( though was in reference to being sick) I asked again for a dog, now I been pointing out dogs in movies and talking. We went to dinner tonight and after wards I was driving past the mall and I asked how about I push your chair around and we get a little excercise, so we walked the mall and of course I cant resist the pet store. We saw the cutiest yellow lab. ( i know i shouldnt even look with the puppy mills and all that issue, but i am weak and cant avoid any babies no matter how furry) Well we saw a ton of cute dogs and he said to me NOW that is what I call a dog, meaning the lab. He asked questions about them, looked a couple books and decided he might consider a lab. Well that is wonderful we have an actually lab rescue in the area and these dogs are so well known for there calm disposition, I know they love water too and I could now have a swimming pal and well I am all excited. We dont have one yet, but I also know he is weakening and I think after our trip I will be finding one who needs a mommy soon. He did show interest in the dog shows at the beagles, at this point he could bring home a large rat with a dog collar and I would probably accept it. Well maybe not a rat.
That is wonderful news, Anette!! Labs are wonderful- my sister has a black lab that is a sweetie. Sounds like you’ve made major progress is the puppy area… :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:
Hi Annette! Ha, I just went back and read your blog from the beginning! We have a lot in common…October birthdays, (both born with a 1 in our year ha ha), my aunt’s name is Nettie annnnnnd we have both traveled all over the world a lot. I used to go to Paris a lot, man did I love that city. But I loved London more.
I’ve always wanted to go to Poland! (grandparents from there) I have been in Prague…
Anyhow, yeah, my MIL is on her way back to Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow although we don’t why ! when the electricity might still be off. I’d just lay around the motel and go out to dinner (she has the $$) but they have a thinking of their own. Funny, the 3 women who as I said are quite old are being driven around by their new neighbor who was an army General! (a woman) The guard in the pool, that’s still be investigated. There was a speculation of suicide which I hope won’t be the reason.
OHHHHHH the Rhinebeck Wool & Sheep Festival, I discovered it last year, went on my birthday, and waited all year for it to happen again. It’s HEAVEN! There are these long long buildings at least ten or more, with just one vendor after another. People come from all over the states to sell their wool, angora, mohair…
Yes I got outrageous stuff but not much coz of my huge stash my DH knows about  But it’s here next to me, some wild orange/pale green loopy loop loop stuff (don’t know what the hell it is but it’s outrageous), a gorgeous dark pink with grays wool/mohair blend $21.35! and Icelandic Sheep wool from a woman with sheep in Misouri Tongue River farm. I buy really stupidly, like buying jewlery or candy, I never get enough to make a sweater but buy a skein or two of lush stuff that I can’t resist… Oh, and I finally after 2 years or looking, got two drop spindles coz I’m going to learn how to spin yeahhh. $33 for a spindle can ya imagine. But I wanted a good one.
If you ever can go to this festival you should! Here’s a link if you want to look at some pix:
Whew. Ok, a long post. I’ve been battling ladybugs today.
yeah
 THOUSANDS on my back porch.
Good luck with the dog! A lab would be super, they have such a wonderful personality. And I like the yellow ones the best!
Funny, we went to Martha’s Vineyard this summer for a visit with my husband’s brother… they had a huge black lab and I brought my two cats. Well, the cats were terrified of the huge dog, never in a house with one before. But everything was ok, coz they were upstairs in their bedroom and Max the big black dog was downstairs. So we go away for lunch, come back and I can’t find the dog, Max. Go upstairs. The bedroom door is shut. Open the door, there is Max locked in the bedroom with my cats who are cowering under the bed. But he didn’t hurt them. Just ate all their catfood!
all for now, Vic
Vic, we have ladybugs too!! Not thousands, (yet), but probably hundreds- they are all over the front of my house. Not a problem outside, but of course every time you go in or out, one or two decide to come in…

I’d heard of ladybug swarms, so I looked it up.
