HOLY CRAP!!! Who sent you that surprise?? That’s AWESOME!
My family back home heard I was knitting. I sent pics of my oregon tote and sweater and some dishcloths, etc. So now my mom and aunt ask everyone if they have needles they dont want, and the two old nuts (believe me these two are crazy together) they have thrift store wednesday after their nursing home visits. So this is the second delievery from Mom , I forgot the cardboard tube in the pic with about 6 pairs in them that she sent a couple months ago. So now I really need to send shawls cause they are always cold in church, they forget to whisper it during sermons , so the whole church knows Annetta (my aunt) and Gloria (my mom) each week give a commentary on the churchs temperature. I try to keep them fashionable in their shawls but always bought them, now i can finally make them. Of course the clog left my knitting self esteem low and I have done practically nothing since. Sad since I was starting early.
Annette…that is SUCH a funny story!! Reminds me of two of our past residents who were a little “team”…always together & always making commentary. They were both hearing-impaired, and spoke VERY loudly… One of my coworkers, who is ALWAYS very nicely dressed in a skirt, walked by them one time & EVERYONE heard Lillian say, “Look at her…if that skirt was any shorter, you’d see her A**!” :roflhard:
Being only 2 and 1/2 weeks into knitting I can’t even imagine that kind of stash…but it did put into me a ‘want’ to go shopping. I had planned not to buy anything except what I needed for a project. I’m going to try to stay STRONG…but It’s YOUR fault if I don’t have any Christmas money. LOL.
Wonderful, and happy for you,
Susie
Oh, I’m sorry to hear that the clog left your knitting self esteem low- are you still working on it?? I had a hard time with my first one, too…
Don’t let it get you down!!!
Are you named after your aunt? That is nice of you to knit shawls for your aunt and mom.
Yes I am named after my aunt, she is my mothers old sister and I love her dearly. Now my mom, hmm well I wont comment today.
Kelly that is EXACTLY what these two are like. The are like a Lucy and Ethel in their old age sketch only dumber. I know that isnt nice but a family reunion is usually peeing their pants laughing with these two and their antics. They have season passes to Hershey Park and end up there after church on sundays to listen to the entertainment, they of course forget the whisper part most anytime. They have gotten lost, fallen out windows, my aunt is in her 70s and i cant tell you how many speeding tickets she has. My aunt also has spent 50 years going to the local high school football team since her son played in the 50’s there and she still sits on the opposing teams side in the same seat year after year after year. . No one minds, she is well known and expected to cheer for the “other” home side team. They have sat in church with two different shoes on only to announce OH MY GOD , why didnt you see that before we left the house, and did i remember to put a slip on, etc so loud the whole church stops and turns to them, then they spend the rest of the time laughing and trying to control it. No one in my family will sit with them, then after church they go to Wendy’s for their baked potatoe and burger and the poor people there roll their eyes when they walk in, especially if they have any coupons.
I would hate to see what would arrive if I was into car repairs of something like that.
I am knitting a little top for my boobie pillow, so i am knitting but I have to get the gustom back. That damn clog really ticked me off.
Wow, that’s a great package. How nice of your mom and aunt to put that together to send to you. You have such a large stash of stuff. That’s awesome!
OMG It was so difficult to find you and my memory is goign bananas, I can barely remember the dog story, the boob explanation, mmm what else?? … … … … I love the multicolored yarn!!! Its beutifull! (your stash!!! )
Bad time with the doggie. It is always difficult to adopt a new one. I have Kika (a bichon frisé) for 11 years. and a year ago, we started to flirt with the idea of considering thinking… jejeje, about adopting a new daughter. I called to the refugies (we have only two in Mexico City), and I checked the classifieds on the newspaper, I spread the news with my friends. Nothing. For 3 months nothing. Then, in a dinner party with a friend that owns a beauty pet shop (is that the correct name?) told me that he has received a female cocker that needs expert parents.
The Cocker, (Martes she was called, since she was find a tuesday) was find in a highway, after a truck ran over her. Ana, the girl who picked Martes, thought she was dead, but Martes open her right eye when Ana hugged her. MArtes spent a whole month in the hospital. Anemia, a broken hip, malnutrition, but most of all, pure depression.
So, we came into the picture. We came to visit her just to ponder the posiibillity of adopting her: I didn’t want a cocker… the hair, the eating habits, the playing habits, probably my bichón wouldn’t feel comfortable. But Martes was the pure image of a nearly dead. the bones to the flesh, the opaque eyes… We simply couldn’t let her.
Martes, renamed Dagobah (for the planet where Yoda refuges after the Clone wars, and where Luke Skywalker get trained as a Jedi), is in perfect health and beutifull as ever.
The first month was difficult: Kika felt jealous, and the cleanning was twice the effort. But now we are OK.
Sorry to be outr of of your blog so long. Ii just simply couldnt find it. Promise to keep track.
aww your a puppy momma. Congrats, i want one too but I am still begging and not making progress, I am finally getting the bathroom and kitchen wallpapered instead. He is great at finding other ways to take my mind off of dogs and thinks he can subsitute one. Well I dont mind the other things he is willing to pay for and do but he just doesnt get it, I am NOT going to stop begging, hell I am just going to bring one home one day and pretend I dont see or hear him.
Cockers are so pretty, the ears get rather smelly though, how does she like her ear rinsings?
Hurrincane Wilma has everyone here on edge. They dont know where it will hit but our mayor was on cnbc and they asked him a bunch of questions about our evacuation. Naples is considered in the cone currently but no one really knows. Sadly only one way to go, north on a bumper to bumper on 75 and 95 on the east coast will have theirs bumper to bumper. Just dont know what were gonna fo yet. I have to take tons of pics tonight, we have our water, candles, lanterns, extra cat food and can foods, and all the stuff. Now they say you should have all your med instructions written out in case you cant speak for yourself and i never thought of that, so for my companion i will have to do all that as well and we have a vacumn sealer and i can do matches, id and insurance papers and so in sealed as well. Say a Prayer for florida, we all go through this so often it wears you out.
Im trying to say something… soothable, nice, encouraging… but simply I cant.
Im glad to know that you are doing everything that you can. My brother is in LA today, and he is suppossed to fly to Miami tomorrow at 5 am. I don’t know if it is better to get back or to stay.
Im praying for vilma to turn. Not to Mexico, not to Florida. Just to the sea.
I’ll be thinking of you…hope that you stay safe…
OMG I was LOL at the church stories!! :roflhard:
Nette…wallpaper is NOT a good substitute for puppy love. Please tell your companion I said so. He’s NOT getting away with THAT one! :fingerwag:
I hope you stay safe, sweetie…Ill be thinkin about you!
Well besides all my preparations I did add chocolate to the list. I think it is imperative and would have helped maybe just a tiny bit in any shelter situation if they had it on hand.
The damn weather men drive me insane, Iam not worrying, I will just go about my business. If something happens it is wink news fault. Just so you all know.
I cleaned this house and busted my butt doing it and the messy man strikes, i suppose i should resign myself to realize i will never have a table top with only an arrangement on it. It will always harbor his mail, notes, newspaper etc. He has 3 desks all within 20 feet of one another but my kitchen table seems to be his favorite spot. ARGHHH
Today is finish up a couple projects day if i ever get moving. I am shamefully still in my nightie. I wasnt an early bird, never went to bed till 4 am, was reading all night.
I was asked for a black oregon tote and I just dont think black is going to show well or be very attractive. Any ideas anyone?
I hope the storm weakens by the time it gets to you.
I feel your pain about messes. I’ve sworn that someday all my surfaces will be convex so that if you dare pile crap on them, it will all slide off into a trap door. My daughter is just as bad. It seems the kitchen counters/table are their personal file system. Makes me nuts! GRRRRR.
:roflhard: That is a HYSTERICAL and GENIOUS idea, Ingy! Moms all over the world will shell out ALL KINDS of money for those counter tops!! You could be a rich woman with all KINDS of yarn funding!! :roflhard:
Annette - do not let these clogs defeat you. I am a very impatient person and it took me I-don’t-know-how-many tries on my first pair and at least one frogging session on my second pair before I produced something decent. I had another clog incident this morning (details in my blog thread). just hang in there. you will get it!
HMMM
oh well, today we finally have our electricity on , was a rough few days. We lost our solar panels and some soffits around the house, one tree in our yard completely gone, in pieces all over and one totall down with roots sticking up and most of our landscaping will need to be redone. Was a rough storm, lasted forever it seemed for a fast moving storm. I am soooo happy to have electricity again. no more cold showers after coming in from mud and back breaking work cutting up tree limbs and dragging them to the curbs. Hot food will be a blessing and so glad I havent lost everything in our freezers, since i buy in quanity and vacumn seal things. I am sick of candlight and carrying a lattern to go to the bathroom and to get a drink. Whoo hoo, I am happy. Not that anyone noticed but I am back online and that feels great, was going through withdrawal and feeling ansty. I did start a knitting project but was a bit hard with the dusk coming so soon and wasnt easy to see the stitches, so i dont have any special “wilma” project.
An after one
we’re still very glad you are doing ok… welcome back!
