Shandeh is a Bernat Blogger Now!

I tell ya…that Craft Room has been a LONG time coming. I started embroidery, needlepoint and sewing when I was a young girl, so I have lots of fabric, patterns and stuff for those crafts.

Then I started doing crochet and cross stitch in high school. So, there was yarn, cross stitch books and more embroidery floss to add to the stack.

THEN I learned to knit! The rest was history.

Before I made the craft room, my stuff was in boxes all over the house. My husband and I decided that I needed a space for it all, so we sacrificed one bedroom in our 3 bedroom house. I took out all the furniture, painted it, and then set it up, using odd pieces of furniture I already had.

I used an old entertainment center for storing fabric and yarn. Then I put my spinning wheel on top of that, along with a cedar box for wool. Then I brought in the two tower bookcases my stepdad made in his woodshop. I keep my spinning fibers, various art supplies, embroidery kits, and needlepoint kits in those. I kept the chest of drawers in the room, and put the TV, DVD, VCR and Gamecube on top of that. Then I took the desktop from an old desk, and balanced it on top of three rolling carts for my sewing table. I keep my sewing supplies and my husband’s beading supplies in the rolling carts. (Yes, he makes neckaces!)

The only thing I bought was the large plastic storage bins, which I use for yarn storage. I have 8 separate drawers for different yarns - Cotton, Wool, Mohair, Acrylic (3 drawers), Chunky, and Baby Yarn. I also have boxes of yarn stacked up in the room, and baskets of projects all over the place.

My mother gave me the cutting table for my birthday. I keep it folded and stored behind my rocking chair until I need it.

Against the other wall, I have a corner desk unit with a computer, and my ironing board attached to the wall. Oh, and I made a cute door decoration so I can close the door if I want to be left alone! (I’ll post that photo later)

My craft room is my heaven on earth!

Ohhh how wonderful! I would love to have a space like that to work in!

:inlove: :inlove: :inlove:

Oh wow!!!

 Jan…where’s that fainting emoticon???

Thanks Margie. Is that your llama in your icon?

Nimmie (and all my other friends in this wonderful forum),

You are all WELCOME to come any time you want. The more, the merrier. Although, I think you would be tempted to steal my stash. :fingerwag:

Now, you all know why I stay up every night and knit! My craft room is my own little island.

My only problem is that I sometimes can’t decide what I want to work on next. :help:

Here is the door decoration I made for my craft room. I made it from a t-shirt that I won on eBay. The t-shirt was a size medium, and I knew there was no way in the world it would ever fit me, so I cut the design from the front, and cut a similar-sized piece from the back, then quilted them together, added a border of lace, and put some sequins on the stars.

Thank you Sara! You’re always so encouraging.

You door decoration is SOOOO cute!

Thanks Margie. Is that your llama in your icon?[/quote]

No, sadly that is not my llama. It is my cousin’s llama, however!! She lives in Oregon and has three llamas. I will be getting llama yarn hopefully soon. My cousin sent me llama fleeces that are in the process of being spun for me. :cheering:

Thanks brownish! The design on the shirt is so cute, I just had to put it to good use.

Lucky you! I saw some llamas at last year’s Southeastern Animal and Fiber Fair in the mountains of North Carolina. They are so sweet and cuddly. Here is a picture of a man with his llama. He actually hugged it around its neck, and the llama never flinched!

Unfortunately, I can’t spin or knit with llama, because I’m allergic to it. I can use alpaca though! (Heavenly soft)

I just got some eBay deals!

“Plus Size Sweater Wardrobe” and "Easy Knitted Rugs"
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8291747778&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT
I won the auction for 50 cents, and paid 1 dollar for shipping!

“Holy Nativity” Embroidery Kit
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8292055474&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT
Total including shipping is about 5 dollars. Neat!

I love it when that happens. :cheering:

Today was a fun day for the most part. I spent WAY too much time reading Amy’s blog in here. She had a link to a “Jive Talk” translator that got me laughing so hard I was crying. :rofling:

http://www.rinkworks.com/dialect/
You put your weblink on that page, and use the translator to change it to Jive, Redneck, Cockney, and others. It’s hilarious!

These knitting patterns are so fun to read in Jive Talk:
http://www.rinkworks.com/dialect/dialectp.cgi?dialect=jive&inside=1&url=http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/free_patterns/index.php
Just click any of the patterns, and you’ll see what I mean.

I’m surprised I can still laugh about it. It just never stops being funny!

I posted this in Amy’s blog, too–this has to be some of the funniest stuff I’ve read in a LONG time! Thanks for finding the translator, Sandy!

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

Isn’t it hilarious? I just can’t get enough of it.

One of the funniest sites I used was my church website!

It’s too sacreligious to put it here, but I was laughing so hard!

There’s nothing funnier than seeing a church talk about their need for more damn hymnals! :rofling:

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

Visit my blog–the last page. I just posted my husband’s philosophy blog in jive. OMG! :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

Okay Angelia, are you just trying to tease me? I just spent the last 20 minutes with my nose 4 inches from the computer screen, trying to find jive on your blog. It AIN’T there, sis! :??

Hey, was I looking in the wrong place?

Her blog just grew about 6 pages, so keep going back.

I’m looking in the wrong place I guess. Is it here?
