I finally got the sleeves attached in my Saguaro top, and it looks okay. Not PERFECT, mind you. But okay.
I’m sure that with time and practice, my seaming will improve.
Now, the shoulders DO look perfect, thanks to Amy’s wonderful video. (This sweater was knit side to side, so the stitches are side by side at the shoulders.)
I found a good guide for the side seams too, and they look nice.
Now, I’m adding a half-double crochet border at the neckline, bottom and sleeves. I tried it on and it fits pretty good! It’s a little big, but that’s okay. Hey! It’s my first sweater!
I’ll try to put up pictures tonight. I’m going crazy right now. I spent WAY too much time on the internet today looking at knitting patterns. (My other addiction) I need a beeper that goes off whenever a new pattern is added.
Those came out so cute! A member was looking for help with these a while back and I couldn’t help. I don’t know if she’s still looking, but here’s the link. Needs help
Okay, after some searching on the internet, I found a discussion in another forum where someone describes how to do the stitch. Apparently, the first row of the original pattern has an error. You should knit 7, Place Marker, knit 8, Place Marker, knit 6 (instead of 7) and wrap the last stitch. She has some photos there as well. http://forums.ebay.com.au/thread.jspa?threadID=500014720&tstart=120&mod=1146440532407
Okay, you asked for pictures. Here’s my “Saguaro” Spring T-shirt - FINALLY. I didn’t think it would ever end.
I didn’t do a gauge swatch, so of course it’s HUGE. Oh well, at least I learned about sizing and seaming and crochet edging and…well a LOT of things. It was a good experience for me.
My mom has a great one, too. Hers was converted from a 2-car garage and contains sewing machine, serger and embroidery machine, large cutting table (she’s a quilter) and 27" TV with VCR and SuperNintendo game system.
The game is for the kids/grandkids to play while Granny sews.
There is also a gas heater for the winter. And a leather rocking chair with ottoman. I may have to take pictures when I go up next, because I haven’t even mentioned the fabric…
