That’s great news Rabbit! I hope he keeps on doing better each day. We are proud of how hard he is working at getting better, but we are even more proud of how hard you are working at keeping him fighting!! Hugs to you hon and to the rest of the Rabbit family!
Thanks for the update, my friend. Isn’t it neat to see how everything is working out. I know there has been a tremendous concern about his having to lie on his stomach for so long, but what a wonderful blessing…the additional rest…that will certainly help heal his body that much faster.

My family has been following this thread and sending thoughts and prayers. We are so glad Austin is doing so good
It’s wonderful to hear that Austin is sleeping better now. That deep sleep will do wonders for him.

Thats great news, i’m so pleased :cheering:
So pleased to hear that Austin is doing so well. Sending more healing thoughts your way.
Have been following this thread and glad to hear that Austin continues to make progress. Is there anything you guys need from Virginia?
Are either of the boys VT or UVA fans?
Trying to remember to get a postcard off to him - is the address and room # still the same ?
Yup the address is still the same. The boys like sports but haven’t ever been team specific - just watch them sometimes with dad. I might just have to become a UVA fan though after the excellent care my kiddo got while he was there. ![]()
Austin is doing good today. He is a little tired of being on his stomach 24/7 at this point but he understands why. The nurse he had last night told me he’s tolerated it better than most kids do.
Austin got a huge stack of mail today. He got 26 post cards from all around the world!! Way too many names for me to remember to give credit but they were all from folks here or on Ravelry. There were also 5 cards in there! You guys are awesome - Thank you!!

When I was telling Austin where the post cards were from his nurse said “Wow -Austin you must be famous” :teehee:
In the field of knitting Austin is famous
He even has a bear named after him ![]()
Glad to hear he is recovering so well and making good progress. austin will be getting a box from me her soon.

so glad hes doing so well, he’s such a brave lad.
Thanks for the updates, Rabbit. I am glad to hear the great progress that Austin’s been making. Continually praying for him and your family.
Glad to hear Austin is doing so well Rabbit. I think of you and Austin often and pray for his speedy recovery.
It will be so good to have him home again that is something to look forward to I am sure.
I got to see Austin’s back today - it looks good. The plan is to graft the backs of his legs this Friday. Thankfully he doesn’t have to stay on his stomach for the whole 7-10 days for the legs though. So he will continue to stay on his stomach until Monday. But at least he will be off his stomach in time for his birthday!:woot: I tried to get the powers that be at the hospital to agree to let Zeus come see him for his birthday - I even told them Zeus would be happy to make the rounds & visit all the kids in the hospital. What kid wouldn’t be happy to see a dancing dog? No go - party poopers :teehee: But at least he’ll still get to have a party - the nurses have already got it planned. He got a package from LuLu2 yesterday & several cards & post cards today. Thank you!!
Momwolf - the hats arrived today. So cute!!! I took them down to the volunteer office & there was much fuss made over them. They will be sending you a thank you card. Where did you find the patterns for those or are they your designs? I’d like to try making a few myself.
The ruffled hat is from Fiber Trend called Ruffled Tulip Hat.
The boys hat is called the Kiddie Cadet hat.
The rolled up hat was just winging it.
Glad they liked them:hug:
Nice to hear that Austin is doing so good!!!
I CALLED on the dog today and they assured me it was going out in the mail today.
thats great news he’s doing so well. and off his stomach for his brithday, wow thats brilliant. bet he’s over the moon about it :yay: .
the nurses sound great that they are arranging a party for him, what a great hospital. such a shame about zeaus though, what a stick in the mud totally. bet they dont have kids or pets to get how great it would be for all th ekids not just austin.
So glad Austin is doing so well. I hope his surgery tomorrow goes well. It’s great news that he will be “off his back” for his birthday.
The nurses do sound wonderful. It’s so nice of them to plan him a birthday party. I mailed him a birthday card from up north when we were on holidays. I hope he gets it for his birthday.
Hugs to you all!
Glad to hear he’s doing well. He’ll be up and at em soon. I have some postcards to send to him. Been down with a bad back the past few days but will get them in the mail ASAP.
Ouch - I hope you feel better soon. ![]()
Austin did fine during today’s surgery - they cleaned up both legs fron & back to get ready for grafting tomorrow. The plan is to graft the back of both legs & to replace the cadaver skin on the front of both legs. They don’t want to leave them open & have them possibly get infected & jeopardize the grafts on the back of his legs. He will be on his stomach until Monday.
He got a post card & card from LuLu2 today - Thank You!
GREAT news my friend! I’ll be praying for y’all tomorrow!
Good luck tomorrow Rabbit. Hugs to Austin. I hope he feels much better after he is allowed to lay on his back again.
You’ve all been through so very much. I pray that you are able to bring him home soon and life goes back to “normal” for you.
