Hello Rabbit! Still checking in all the time. So glad to hear the trach is out, you added to your stash, doggies are rolling in, baths are getting “better”, therapists are happy–all that good stuff.
Think of you all the time, miss you. Much praying going on for Friday, but probably more for Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and up to 2 weeks after.
Hugs my friend.
Yay!! Glad to hear the parcel finally arrived - I can’t believe how long it takes to get there from here! (There are some more on the way - hope they get there for Austin’s birthday …)
Tell Austin I think of him as competing in the Olympics - so far he has more gold medals than anyone else!! He has won every race!!
And lots of strength-filled hugs for you and the rest of the family - stay so positive and strong!
:yay: :cheering: :happydance:
Hey, Rabbit! I read this post at least once a day, but have never posted in the thread. I’m so, so happy that Austin is doing better and that he got that dreaded trach out. Just want you to know that you and your boys are in my thoughts and prayers everyday.
Rabbit…
Austin is really a trooper…he doing so well…I know he has a long way to go…but we are all here for the whole family…So so glad he was able to get out of the room and have the tube remove…Love to all of you Grandma:blooby: :notworthy:
Austin had another good day today. He went out to the nurses station to hang out with the girls for awhile & he went downstairs to the activity room - he has to go when no one else is in there due to the MRSA but he enjoyed it. They also did a trial run of him laying on his stomach for 2 hours today. He tolerated it very well. The lady who works in the lab here (where they work their magic with the cultured skin) told me from this point on things move very fast. I still haven’t been given a time frame for when we might get to go home but every day we get a little closer.
Austin got post cards from Mirl56 & the Webb family today. Thank you!
i havent replied much on here but have rad every post. it sounds like austin is a huge credit to you christina and ben is just being a start. shows what a great mom you are and how much your boys adore you how they are dealing with all of this.
the trac out is great news. he has to feel better for that being removed.
sending you guys big
and hope the 2 week stomach period flies by
I opened a thread for people interested in knitting a bear for austin, from a linnypin pattern. The pattern is not out yet, but everyone interested might join.
http://forum.knittinghelp.com/t/austin-the-bear?t=82600I’m goingto put a link to your thread with the one for the blanket we are doing for austin.
Austin just got out of surgery a little while ago - Dr. said everything looked great. :cheering: They used the cultured skin & donor skin from his scalp & shoulders to get his entire back done. They plan to graft the backs of his legs next Friday so that means he will be on his stomach for at least 14 days maybe more. But the nurses here will do all they can to make sure he is as comfortable as possible during that time. He was a little upset that he won’t be able to leave his room again for awhile but understood once we explained why. Dr. will have a look at the grafted area on Sunday to see how it’s taking. I’ll be sure to let everyone know what he says.
Austin got 2 post cards from jcmom yesterday - Thank you!
He got 2 today 1 from iza & 1 from someone else - they are in his room & I forgot who sent the other one
sorry! However Thank You for sending them & I will try to remember so I can post later.
I am so glad that Austin is getting better. Getting burnned like that is a threat to survival in many areasbut not here in theUS Thank the Lord for the Shriners hospital that is in the area where you live. My husband had to go to the Tampa Hosp[ital Burn Unit when he suffered 3rd degree burns on the backs of both hands and other areas on his body in an accident at the plant where he worked.
Hello, I am very new to this forum and did not realize this thread was so serious. I am so very sorry for the adversity you are in the face of but it seems to me that you, your husband and your two sons have been blessed with the strength to weather the storm.
My heart and prayers go out to you and yours and my heart is truly touched by the outpouring of love on this forum. I just discovered knitting forums not too long ago and have been addicted since.
Thank you for opening this window into your life and allowing us to send prayers your way!! That is very courageous and admirable!
I am glad to hear of the positive progression his healing is making! Good luck with everything and I will be checking in daily to see the progress!!

I will keep Austin in my thoughts and nightly prayers.
“on his stomach for at least 14 days maybe more” he is definitely in training. But instead of metals, he will be getting postcards and prayers.

Hi everybody,
Iv’e had enquiries regarding the use of this pattern.
The idea was to help rabbit and her familly.
If rabbit is happy to allow the pattern to be used to help other causes thats fine, knitting for personal use is of course ok.
I will wait for rabbit to contact me before I send any response to the emails iv’e received so far.

Linda, I can’t get my email to go through to you, mailer-deamon, uggg.
Rabbit, Glad to hear that Fri Surgery went well…I send Austin a postcard the other day, but not sure what day. Your in my thoughts daily…

I had three returns before I finally figured out what was wrong. She had too many co.uk’s in there.
This should work.
We had the 2 day post op “let’s have a look” bandage change today. Dr. said everything looked great! :woot: They will look again on Wednesday to see how it looks. He is doing good on his stomach - he’s
sleeping more but he’s a stomach sleeper so I imagine that has something to do with it.
Yay!!!
