Never leave home without my knitting

I think I’d be inclined to just not doing anything with them. She hasn’t been nice to the girls and obviously they are so aware of it they don’t want to be around her either. If she’s offended then so be it. You’ve done your best, but you need to think of yourself and your family, too. One can always hope that she’d get the hint. Did DH have any luck with her?

Brenda, I started at the beginning of your blog, and read it through and through. You are such a strong person. You seem to handle any adversity that comes your way with grace. (…and venting in a blog does not take away your grace.) I had a MIL something like yours. At times, we got along fine, but at other times I had to walk on eggshells around her. She even threw me out of her house a couple of times!!

She introduced me to the show “Everybody Loves Raymond”, and asked me if she was anything like Marie. (You should see the scars that I have on my tongue from biting holes in it!!) :teehee:

I’ve been married to her only son (only child) for almost 31 years. Over the years, my MIL and I bonded, and the last few years, she actually told me that she loved me, and that I was more like a daughter to her than a DIL. Whenever she needed a hug or help, she called me. We grew to love each other over time, and recognized our differences too. She passed away about 1 1/2 months ago, and if anyone would’ve asked me years ago if I would miss her, I would’ve laughed at them, but guess what…I do miss her. I don’t miss the foolishness and moodiness, but I do miss the good times we shared over the years. So, don’t ever give up. You just never know what can happen. (I’m a Catholic, and I even once confessed that I hated her.) :aww:

Also, you make me want to go home and clean house and knit. (I have 2 daughters too, but they’re grown…26 & 22 years old)

Keep on blogging. I feel like I know you.

:roflhard: I told Brenda that’s who her MIL sounded like! I suspect if your MIL asked about it she KNEW she was like her and was baiting you! :teehee:

My MIL is a piece of work, but she’s not like Marie. Thank goodness she lives in Tucson. :teehee:

Thanks, Melanie, for all of your nice compliments. You have given me hope to keep trying. Tonight we took Easter dinner over to my in-laws so that our girls could celebrate the holiday with the only grandparents they have. I made a big ham, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots and watermelon. It was a very nice meal and we had a good visit. Thank God that this was a good visit for all of us but mostly for my girls.

Rachel got an accoustic guitar for her 12th birthday. She has learned 2 songs already and practices everyday. Rebecca now wants an electric guitar for her 14th birthday in June. That gives us time to save up for one. Right now she can practice on DH’s old one that has a big crack in it. What a joy to see the girls share something in common and spend some quality time together.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter.

We had the most wonderful day with our good friends. We took a drive to the hill country to see the Blue Bonnets, went to the birthplace of Texas, and the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham, TX. I finally get why people love living here, it is soooo beautiful. It was a day that I will cherish and remember always. To check out our adventure you can look at pictures on my Flickr page. Here are just a few pics to wet your appetite.

You went to Blue Bell…And they were open…and there was…ICE CREAM??:woot: :woot:

I’m jealous…I’ve got to get there some day!

Oh I love Bluebonnets!! So pretty! We have a similar flower we call Lupine. I think they are the same family.

So where is your Flickr page? :tap:

We didn’t get to take the tour of the creamery because they were full for the day :pout: But we did have Ice Cream :woohoo: It was delicious :mmm:

 Sorry about the flickr page. My user name is: “brendapaulsel” if that helps any. DH and I want to blow up some of the pics I took today and hang them in our bedroom. We have off white walls with hard wood floors and a denim comforter. I thought that the pics would look lovely in there. We’ve lived here for almost a year and I still don’t have any pictures hung in our bedroom.

Tonight I started a new dishcloth. I’m kind of getting a late start on my shamrock dishcloth since it’s already April :teehee: but that’s what I’m working on. I have lots of green cotton yarn so I thought that I’d start to use some of it.

Shoosh… took me a bit to get in, but here’s the link for anyone else who wants to see the pretty bluebonnets!

Those are great pix! They’d be beautiful framed!:yay:

We get bluebonnets up here, but not like that. My husband and I are driving to Houston this weekend and I hope to see some fields of bluebonnets on the way down. Great pics!

These are beautiful pictures! Brenda, I even used one as my Desktop wallpaper. Thanks! :cheering:

Wow, beatiful pix! My brother lived in Houston for 15 yrs before recently moving to Austin. When his kids were little, they would plop them in that very same field and take their pictures each year. How funny!

It has been raining really hard here the past two days. Our garden is flooded and so is the back yard. DH took the girls to a movie today and had to use back roads to get to the theater. The feeder roads were so flooded that our Expedition wouldn’t have made it through. Now that’s some high water!

Thanks for all the nice compliments on my pictures. It was lovely day! Thanks to Jan for posting the link to my Blue Bonnet Pics. You ROCK Jan!!! :muah:

This weekend I finished three dish cloths that I’ve been wanting to work on :woot: I figured that since it was raining it was as good as time as any to stay inside and knit  Tomorrow I’ll have to work on laundry, lesson plans, etc. YUCK!!!

Hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Tonight I spent the night in the ER with my dear friend, Kristi. She teaches the toddlers in the room next to my classroom. While eating her dinner she aspirated on some food. Her DH stayed home with their three kids while I took her to the ER. We were there for 3 1/2 hours, which wasn’t too long of a wait. She was fine and they let her go home. Praise God that she is fine. The only bummer about the evening was that I left the house without any knitting  I can’t believe that I did that. I never leave the house without my knitting. My poor little hands just didn’t know what to do with themselves so I played with the blood pressure cuff and got caught by a nurse :teehee: At least we had a good laugh over it :roflhard: I had to confess that I was a frustrated knitter without my needles and yarn but I don’t think that the nurse understoon  It was definately a learning experience, never leave home without your knitting!

Oops! :teehee: I have a hard time remember it, too.

Glad your friend is okay!

This has been such a stressful week at work. Then to top it off things are just as stressful at home. DD with Asperger’s feels my stress and that makes her upset. So much so that she wants to hurt herself. I’m afraid for her safety right now and feel like its all my fault. I am so overwhelmed with all that I have on my shoulders and feel close to a nervous breakdown myself. DH and I are going to do some serious talking about me quiting my job and staying home with the girls. I really want to concentrate on homeschool and them for a change. I pray that it works out for us so that I can do that.

Ohhh I’m sorry, Brenda! I’m hoping things get better for you and hope that staying home will work out for you!:hug::hug:

Hang in Girlie! :waving:

It will get better. I do hope you get to leave your job and stay home with the girls. I was home with mine for most of their childhood. Then, DH got laid off and I had to go back kicking and screaming into the workforce (which didn’t include computers when I left it!!!). I hope you and your daughter feel better soon!

:grphug: Thanks Everyone! You are all so wonderful to me, I’d be lost with out you.

Today my boss came back to work after her back surgery. She called me and my DD’s a “bunch of sickies,” because we are always sick. :noway: I’ve come to realize that Texans say what is on their mind and don’t realize how rude they come off. I blew off her comment and said, “Why, yes, we have been sick a lot but we can’t help it.” I had to miss work last Friday because I had an inner ear infection and I still can’t hear. I feel like my head is under water and the world is spinning right on by me :eyes: Not a fun feeling. I really wish that I could quit my job but I’m telling myself that it’s the 1 year itch and to just hang in there.

DD is feeling better but has hit the teenage attitude! Big time!!! If she isn’t careful she will start to loose computer time, I-pod, TV and cell phone. I sound like such a mean mamma but I will not have my child sass me and roll her eyes. Not every conversation we have has to end in an argument. I don’t care if she is a teenager. Ok, now I feel better that I got that off my chest :teehee:

Off to make dinner and then finish homeschool for the day. I sure hope that I get to do some :knitting: while watching Dancing With the Stars tonight
