Never leave home without my knitting

Oh poor Rachel! Poor you, too. It’s tough when you have a sick kid! I’m glad DH maybe is beginning to understand!

It’s slow going but Rachel is improving. Both girls are supposed to go on a youth retreat this weekend. We went back and forth on if we should allow her to attend. She is feeling well enough to attend, but we just don’t want her to get worn out and sick again. She has her suit case packed and we’ll see how she is doing tomorrow afternoon. We also don’t want her to miss out on all the fun stuff in life because she is always sick. Gee, I guess that no one ever said that raising kids was an easy job, did they?

Today was our first day of Walk-A-Thon at school. It was a zoo with all those tots running around in a circle. You’d have thought that they would have gone to sleep at nap time from exhaustion but they didn’t. It’s like the walking/running just wound them up. One more day this week and another day of Walk-A-Thon and I may have a free weekend :cheering:

Today was my 40th birthday :woohoo: It was a good day, filled with happiness and well wishes.

I hope you had a great day!!

Sorry I missed your birthday, Brenda!
I hope it was a wonderful day for you. :muah:

Happy belated birthday wishes to you! :muah: :balloons:

Boy, has it been warm here! Yesterday it got up to 82 and today it is in the high 70’s. We are clearing a spot in the yard for a garden and sweating like crazy. SIL was supposed to bring the tiller back to the in laws but hasn’t done that yet. Oh well, when she does we’ll be ready to till up the garden and start planting :woohoo: Fresh veggies are the best!

One more week of teaching until Spring Break :woot: I can’t wait to have a week off with my girls. I’m planning on going to the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory one day, and to see the Blue Bonnets one day and then up to Austin to visit my Great Aunt. The rest of the time we’ll probably find some free things to do in Houston. I’m also going to try to find the Alpaca farm that is near the Blue Bell place that my friend keeps telling me about. :happydance: Alpaca Yarn, just what I need, more yarn :roflhard:

Off to Houston Garden Center to look at fruit trees. Have a great weekend.:muah:

Happy Birthday Brenda! My 40th is creeping up in August. I’m not really looking forward to it tho…

It always seem so hot in spring when it hits 80, but by fall you’ll be praying for 80 again!

I love fresh veggies!

I’m taking my great aunt’s advice on aging, “you are only as old as you feel.” She will be 95 years young this July! Age is a state of mind and my mind tells me that I’m still young :teehee:

3 more days untin Spring Break :woot: I can’t wait to spend a whole week with my girls exploring parts of Texas that they have not been to yet. We are planning on taking little one day trips throughout the week.

Tonight we planted our garden and discovered that we didn’t make it big enough~UGH! It is 16’ x 17’ and we still need to make it bigger. Not sure where we will dig up the yard next but I need to get my peppes and tomatoes into the ground and out of pots. I also want to plant some flowers and add some color to the back yard. We are expecting rain the rest of the week so it will have to wait until next week. Houston could really use the rain, we are at least 6" under and it’s DRY!

Off to bed so that I can function tomorrow.

Spring Break officially began at 2:30 pm today :happydance: :woohoo: :woot: :cheering: :yay: Gee, can you tell that I’m just a little excited :roflhard: I started it off with a bang by going to Micheals and Hobby Lobby then home to knit and watch That 70’s Show. Life just can’t get any better than that

I read the title and thought it said “spin break” and I was going to say that I didn’t know you spin!

My DH is on spring break next week, too. He’s not happy about it though. :teehee:

:teehee: oops, I guess that I missed the “g” in Spring. Oh well, we are back from Galveston where we had a nice time. Rebecca caught her first flounder off the pier, DH was so proud of her. I finished another baby sweater and it is sooo cute. Rachel and I started new blankets. Her’s is a granny square blanket in brown, rose and off white. Mine is a bolche blue and the pattern is out of one of the Debbie Macomber books.

Now it’s time for a week’s worth of laundry, unpacking and writing lesson plans.

Where does the time go? It just seems to fly right by before my eyes. There just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day to accomplish everything that is on my “To Do” list. Or is it that my “To Do” list is just too long :?? ? Either way, I just can’t seem to get enough done. Even though life is busy there has been time to knit, thankfully. My baby blanket is coming along nicely. Speaking of that, I think that I’ll go work on it before I head off to sleep for the night.

I am so torn between the hours at work and trying to homeschool my girls. I want to do a good job and be a good employee but I also want to do what is best for my girls. I wish that I could afford to quite and just concentrate on homeschool. Sorry to bore everyone wtih my sob story. I just needed to vent a little bit.

Awww…I totally understand. It’s hard to be a working mom.

This has been one of the hardest weeks in a very, very long time. I guess that when it rains, it POURS! Tonight DH went to talk to MIL about her behavior that we are getting tired of having to deal with. He left over an hour ago and still isn’t home. I just hope and pray that things are going well. She was in a very bad mood when we were over there earlier this evening.

DD2 is turing 12 on Sunday. It should be one of the happiest days of our lives, but it is a bitter sweet day. My mom died on her 5th birthday. This Sunday marks the 7th anniversary of her death in addition to DD’s 12th birthday. We always try to make it extra special for her but there is always a bit of sadness there too. To make matters worse poor DD doesn’t want MIL or any of the in-laws to help her celebrate. I can’t say that I blame her one bit. We did invite them just to help keep peace. We’ll just have to wait and see how things go tonight, they may not show up. It’s been a month since my b-day and I never got a card from the in-laws. I really don’t expect them to show and that makes me sad for DD and very angry at the same time.

So sorry that this is turning out to be a big vent session. I have no where else to turn. I try not to bog down DH with all of this because it gets in the way of our relationship after a while. And believe me, after 16 years it has really taken a toll. Some days I’m still amazed that we’re still together.

Thanks for letting me blow off some steam.

Ugh. MIL is at it again, huh?

That’s an understatement. It is so hard to remember why we moved back. I enjoy where we live but not the in-laws. Does anyone want to adopt me and my girls? :teehee:

Tomorrow I need to go shopping for DD’s b-day present. I can’t believe that my baby will be 12 years old on Sunday. Where does the time go? Too fast, that’s where!

Right now I’m working on a baby blanket and a dish cloth. The knitting time is so little these days that I need to really cherish it when I do get to knit.

Our garden is doins well. Everything is up and growing fast. I can’t wait to have some fresh veggies from it. We need to expand it this weekend and get out peppers and tomatoes out of their pots and into the ground. Weekends just go by way too fast.
