Add another one to the count my friend crocheted her first one! :cheering:
I haven’t had time to post much lately ( darn midterms) but I finished another one!
I also found out that one of my lys is having a knit night devoted to Caps for the Capital! :cheering: I thought that is such a great idea I had to share it with ya’ll! Our knit night get a fairly good turn out so if every body made just one… I get chills just thinking about it!!
Oh my WORD! I haven’t been getting the notification for this, but WOW!!!
You guys are cranking along, and :woot: for us reaching more than 100 posts out here. I’m off the update the ticker :out:
This is FANTASTIC! I’m going to suggest it for Knit Nights at my LYS too (where I start working part time tomrrow by the way :woohoo:)
I updated the ticker…who will post about hat #50 I wonder??? :shifty:
My friend and I just finished one more a peice so add them to the count!
…aaaaaaaaaaaaand HAT NUMBER 50 is on the ticker!!!
Great job! :cheering:
These hats knit and crochet really fast! They practically knit themselves!
I’ve had another one done and one on the needles for a week, but haven’t taken the time to post a picture yet. I will soon!
After I just posted in General Knitting about not taking on any more knitting projects until I finish the one I’m on, I read about this. I’m way out of the loop… I had no idea what this project was. But I definitely have to do it!
YAY! Welcome Becca!! :cheering:
If you’re able to post pictures of your finished hats, please do…otherwise, just keep telling us how many you have completed so we can add yours to the ticker in my signature.
Ok, I REALLY wanna do this but I’m having trouble with the gauge. The first one I knit came out super small, but I realized I used sizes 6 and 8 needles instead of 8 and 10. The next time I used 8 and 10, but it was STILL coming out around the same size. It measures 3" across. That would make it a 6" circumference right? And they said it needs to be 9" to 11" circumference. Should I try size 11 and 13 needles? That would be a bummer, because I don’t HAVE 11 and 13 DPN’s.
Rather than using larger needles which would make the whole thing looser you could just increase the number of stitches. If they are that small maybe start by adding 10 and see if that works.
You must knit really tight or are you using small gauge yarn?
ETA: BTW …I’ve been using Caron Simply Soft or Bernat Softee Baby
My hats are about 4 and a quarter inches across, and I used Caron Simply Soft yarn for them.
I used Caron Simply Soft too, so I must knit REALLY tight. I think I’ll take your suggestion and try adding 10 stitches, Jan.
If 10 isn’t enough you can increase more. Just try to increase evenly for the ribbing. Size is more important than the number of stitches, but even the size can vary some since babies are different sizes. :teehee:
I’m in! I have already downloaded the info from their site! I’ll keep you posted on how many hats I get done. I have around five done and just have to seem them up (ugh ~ I’m not great at this yet). I don’t know why I’m having such a hard time figuring out how to do mattress seaming on them and having them look good. :wall:
Welcome SusanC :waving: glad to have you on board!
Congrats on 5 hats already! I find the trick to mattress stitch is making sure I’m always in the same line of stitches searching for that illusive horizontal bar! I spread out my stitches as wide as I can and thread my seaming yarn under the bar that way. Just a little tugging usually makes the path clearer :teehee:
Keep up the good work! :cheering:
Thanks jamadian75! It’s getting that elusive line of stitches that is making me go crazy! I’ll just keep at it and I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it. It can’t be that difficult!
I look forward to chatting with you and keeping updated on everyone’s progress!
One more done, one on the needles!
