Coming to this late, but I’ve decided to join in! I’ll post pix when I have some done. :cheering:
Hey there Del! Way to go on getting one done! I completely agree with you on the seaming issue. I wondered about doing this ITR too, mostly because seaming is just an extra time factor, and I’ll do anything to save a few minutes (that could be the difference between 1 more hat, you know?)
If a few of us give it a try knitting in the round, let’s share what we found out while converting the pattern.
Welcome Jan!! We’re glad to have ya!
Hey all–they actually refer you to the www.warmupamerica.org website for the pattern in the round–that’s what I’ve been using! Here’s the direct link.
Mer–
Now you tell me, LOL.
Well, here’s the 2 I did in the past couple of days. The one on the left is seamed; the one on the right was knit ITR.
I had a weird, loose-ladder thing going on on the ITR cap; I think it was a combo of the needle size & the yarn because I knit a lot of socks ITR & have never had that problem. I may try both ways again when I knit my next ones.
Del those are so cute!! Great job on both…weird about the ladder though. :??
Mer, thanks for that link!
Alrighty, here is my first cap. I am starting the decreases on the second one so I can finish that when I get off work.
The pattern is sooo easy!
Nice work Steph! What yarn is that you used? It’s Purty :teehee:
Our count is at 18! I’m so happy!! :cheering:
I’m going to bump us up in the General Thread so that others who may want to join will find this KAL.
I dyed it myself with koolaid
Oooo…even better!
I’ve got one down! They’re a piece of cake to knit and they’re so tiny!! Many more to come!!
What a wonderful cause. Here’ my first one:
Lindsey & knittinreed - WELCOME!! :waving:
Both your hats look so cute (love the doll model too DL :teehee: )
Our ticker is at 19 if my counting is correct so far…it is SO cool that our forum will be well represented in this great cause!
Count me in! Sounds like a good project for in the car on a road trip.
I’m still a fairly new knitter, and haven’t tackled knitting in the round yet. So when I’m doing the seam on a hat, is it possible to finish it in a way that the seam doesn’t show when the cuff of the hat is turned up? :??
Please add this itty bitty lemon yellow to the count
Cute hats! :cheering:
I wonder if we could put some fair isle into the hats to make them more intresting… I got bored of knitting st st. :pout:
I’m planning on doing that. The trick will be to figure out how to get it to work on different numbers of stitches. I’m doing my first one on DPNs and I have 44 CO stitches. Have to think on this a bit…
Maybe hearts or sailboats?
I’ll look at some fair isle charts tonight to see if any spark my attention. I’ll be sure to post them here if anyone is intrested.
I printed out a chart with 44 “stitches” so I can play around with patterns. If you do find something works that would be neat, too.
ETA: I just did a a fair isle double gingham ribbon (yellow on white) and it came out pretty! It’s a start anyway.
Jan - is this another hat to add to the ticker?
Jenelle - I like that you’ve introduced an idea to make these KH originals
I love these great, creative ideas. It makes it that much more fun. I’m also going to look through some books this weekend.
