Because the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter is aligned with Mars.
I’ll send the snow your way.
We put in the application and security deposit for the apartment today!
My dad is VERY worried that I will find the place too small, but I think it’s splendid and it’s priced right. also, it has a dishwasher. (and allows dogs.)
Anyway, the lease gets signed by the 20th and then I can move in any time. I’m really excited about getting to decorate, IF I can keep my parents from imposing their idea of what they think I like (which is, basically, their living room…). I know exactly what I really want in the room - mostly hand-me-downs or things I already have - but I’ve still managed to offend the style sense of both of my parents.
sigh I don’t want to seem ungrateful or anything… I really, really appreciate my parents help with this, and I’m really, really excited about FINALLY having my own place (that allows dogs.)
Did I mention I’m going to live in the place that allows dogs?cloud9
Not that I’ll be, you know, eating ramen noodles for a month so I can afford the dog that much sooner… I mean, why would I eat ramen when I could instead just “borrow” some flour and eggs from my mom and make noodles myself and save the 8 cents?
THanks Chris, anyone else wanna send me snow on the 10th and 15th?
Gina you’ll be proud of me because im studying lots and your tip of taking apart the words seems to be helping, thanks again. NOt sure why I didnt think of that before.
Jess so glad you’re getting your appartment (that accepts dogs) & there’s nothing wrong with Ramen, my kids love it and it makes a quick hot lunch when we’re out of bread and I dont want to feed them mac n cheese. I think by now they’ve eaten their weight in that stuff. (sad I know)
Jess it is too bad that you couldn’t find a place that allows pets. Do you think you could sneak a dog in?
Have you considered the local pound or Humane society? You might be able to get a FREE puppy or check the newspaper for “looking for a good home.”
Congratulation to the new home, I can still remember my first apartment, decorated in early Goodwill.
Hi Socksters,
Julie, KEEP STUDYING! You WILL get this stuff! Take it apart, explain it from memory, putting it back together as you do. You’re SO smart… YOU WILL GET THIS! But it will take a lot of TIME! So we don’t want to hear about you finishing your WIPs right now. We want to hear about you STUDYING! Feel free to explain stuff to us! We will ALL celebrate with you when you NAIL this stuff and blow em away on your tests! Snow shmow. You don’t need a miracle. You need to STUDY.
Nobody will mind getting yarn and promises for Christmas!
Knit2b, I LIKE seeing plain vanilla socks. Show em off, girl!
Christine, I can just picture you in your scarf. Red’s a good color on you! I’m so glad your computer is faster again. I need to clean mine up.
Emily, YAY on the apartment! I think your parentals want to re-decorate, so they’ll pawning all their old stuff on you. (You could always take and sell it on Craig’s List to fund what you really like…But don’t do that on antiques or family heirlooms!) Don’t you DARE tell my kids I said that! They’re getting furniture that doesn’t fit in this house!
I actually got to knit for awhile yesterday and this morning at church. I finished knitting DD’s Knucks and have to sew up the gaps between the fingers and I got four fingers done on DD’s BF’s Knucks. Feels good to knit again! I need to do some shopping today and DH is coming along, so I’ll get to knit while he drives.
Have a great day!
Are you an old rocker? I’m pretty sure those are the lyrics of an ancient song, I’d have to think to come up with which one…
LOL!
There is no way I can afford a dog until at least March, yet I’ve been reading petfinder adds and adds on a few breed-specific rescues. I promise I will not go to any humane societies, shelters, pounds, rescues, or kennels until March. The problem with affording the dog is not the adoption fee. It’s the pet deposit. So I have to have the money in my savings for that, plus some extra cash in case of emergency, before my budget will maintain a dog.
Well, it will be ecclectically decorated: my desk will be a black desk top held up by two filing cabinets; my chair may or may not be my grandma’s “pink rocker” (ugh, pink… but yay free!)
there was some discussion of my getting the old sleeper sofa that lives in the guest room in the basement (late-70’s yellow floral print)… but it was decided that it is too heavy to carry back upstairs and it will probably be deeded to the next owner of our house. So I think I have the parents convinced on the loft-bed-and-futon idea, and we seem to have much of the furniture worked out. I’m OK with hand-me-downs, but dad is thinking about building me a loft and I’ll be darned if I’m going to let him put that much effort into something that I don’t love. Or that much money, if they buy one for me.
Do you suppose I would get negative brownie points for selling grandma’s pink chair on Craigslist to have extra dog money? (No, I know better… I remember the “Impractical Chair” debaucle when I lived with Jovon. I’ll make a slipcover for the chair).
Dont worry Gina, no knitting time for me; well except for about 30 minutes today while we were waiting for supper to be done at Brian’s Dad’s house, but that’s ok because I’ll be offline here in a few and study till I go to bed. I got to discect a cow’s eye on Thurs and it was AWESOME. I’ve already come to the realization that there’s no knitting for Christmas this year, except Dh but he’ll get half knit socks probably anyway, so such is life. I doubt it will snow enough to cancel classes but I still like snow. (occasionally)
Ok off to study now, to all y’all!
19 day’s till Christmas!
5th dimension - Age Of Aquarius Lyrics
I’m old and I have a rocker, does that count?
:blooby:Good Morning Socksters

Emily~That’s wonderful :woot:
Chris~The snow missed us…Roo wants to make snow angels…it is spitting snow today though
Hi everyone hope you guys are doing good miss hearing from you all!
I hope you guys had a good weekend we had a busy one. Mom came up on Friday and we had play practice that night…then we had Roo’s tea party on Saturday and the play that night…we also had Haley and Katie (nieces) up…I posted pictures and a video of itall on the blog
If some of you follow my blog then you prolly have heard of Jackson he is a very close friend of Isaiah. His mom is really just having a hard time right now she was in the hospital over Thanksgiving with something going on in her liver. They thought they got her stable enough to go home but once home she had a bad spell and now is in the Cleveland Clinic and they just can’t figure out what is going on. She is having fluid removed today…just keep them in your prayers she has just had a rough go a few years ago she had cancer and then she had a bad accident that almost killed her…now this…she was also the one who was helping me with the stockings for the Salvation Army I’m meeting with her mom (was gonna be today) tomorrow to get Jackie’s items. We were going to have our kids hand them out but now I don’t know what is going to happen gotta call the SA and see how they would like to work it, hoping they will just let me drop them off.
I finished a hat for the lys will post pictures in a bit…I gotta do some sample knits now…haven’t even got to my Christmas knitting :teehee:
Hope you all have a wonderful day of knitting :blooby:
An ancient song? The Age of Aquarius? Oh my, now I do feel old! Chris, I used to love this song. I’m humming as we speak.
Got a funny for everyone. Here is wording of my grandson’s letter to Santa:
Dear Santa… Let me explain
I laughed so hard I almost peed myself. The child has a very good sense of humour!
:roflhard:
Jess, good luck with the new apartment. Most people’s first apartment is decorated in early Salvation Army or Thrift Store, I know mine was. It’s half the fun of starting out, then you can say “I bought this stuff myself, and I can’t wait to replace it.”
I have found that I can probably do cross stitching as it is not heavy at all. I am going to get a small kit and give it a try. I used to do it all the time but stopped after a cross stitch overload when I made 10 cross stitched Christmas gifts one year. I started in July, was cross stitching on Christmas day and have never done any since then. I will try it on pay day. Perhaps then I can do something productive. We shall see!
Gina I think I’m finally getting “it”! :happydance:
:cheering: friends,
sorry for the before holiday sydromne and, MIA in Japan :happydance:
how is everyone ? done up with all your festive holdiay decorations for the house
We’re done decorating Jackie, how about you?
Hi everyone.
We have had snow here today so I am at home for a change. No knitting or anything to show you. I am still finishing my cards but have completed my shopping I think. Tomorrow and Friday I am helping at the local school with the Christmas sale for the children.
Julie: I looked at your blog. All your trees look wonderful. I have a hard job decorating one, and a small one now too. Glad Roo’s party went well. Everything looked wonderful and I’m sure they all had a great time.
Gina: Glad you are all moved in. Too bad about the termite problems. I thought you had all that taken care of before you moved.
Julie: Good luck with the exams. Your Christmas card is cute.
Christine: Glad things are progressing for you, also that you are enjoying the afghan. I made the 4 pink squares, I know they weren’t red but it was suggested that I use pink to break up all the reds. Your grandson’s comment is funny.
Carey: Glad you have found a special friend. My closest friend is like a sister to me.
Jess: Congrats on the apartment.
Chris: I am sure you really love all the Christmas decorating.
Will kook in again before Christmas.
morning,
:noway: Harmony Set Sale is on…save up to $10 :wall:
Julie - with the vacation rush packing and unpacking, there isnt any xmas decos yet, no :knitting: too
Sue- pls keep warm. nice to have snow during the christmas :cheering:
Emily, keep saving! Pets are expensive and you want to have a “just in case” fund set aside. Not to mention the price of food…
Julie, YAY that you’re getting it! What are you currently working on? Do you have down the chapters you sent me? Have you started the next set yet? Be sure to talk to the prof to make sure you’re on the right track!
Chris, yep, that counts!
Dustina, your friend is in my prayers. How very difficult!
Glad Roo’s party was a success. The pics were great!
Christine, LOL on your grandson’s letter!!! How old is he? I hope cross stitch works out for you. I used to do a lot of it, too.
Jackie, yes, my decorations are done. We didn’t put much out this year.
Sue, good for you for having your shopping done! I’m nearly finished. I’ve ordered most stuff online and stopped at the mall for a gift for DD today. The termites were SUPPOSED to have been taken care of. I’m NOT HAPPY about having to pay for treatment!
In house news, they finally got the bathroom cupboard ripped out that was all moldy because of the shower leak. It smells TERRIBLE in there now. We keep tape over the door so we don’t have to smell it and I got a gel thing today that’s supposed to absorb odor. They promised they would get it all clean and we’d have no smell. We find out tomorrow exactly where the leak is and what it will take to fix it.
In knitting news, the Knucks I was making for Amit were too small (I think) so I started over with different yarn. I seriously doubt if I will be done by Christmas. Oh well.
Hi to the rest of you. Anyone heard from Ann lately? Christmas is a tough time without those you love…
Hello all!
I’m sorry I haven’t checked in. I have been popping in from time to time to read how you’re all doing, but I haven’t felt like talking about me. Not only are the holidays hard, but my 24th birthday is on Sunday and I realized while checking the mail on Monday that I won’t be getting a card from my mom. This might seems silly- of course I won’t be getting a card from my mom, but I sort of expected one. This of course set me off, but I’m doing better.
Anyways, I have been knitting up a storm for Christmas. I have made mittens for Josh’s SIL, mittens for his sister, socks for my brother, a shawl for Nanny, a scarf for Josh and I’m making fingerless gloves for his mom. I figure if I keep myself busy knitting I can’t think about much else.
Gina- it sounds like you’ve had a few headaches with the house! What a pain. Hope you and your family are doing well.
Sue- Nice that all your shopping is done! I have done most of mine, but still need a few things.
Emily- Yay for a new apartment and yay for a dog come March! I know when I got my cat I had to take her to the vet about 3 times in the first month, so save up!
Julie- It’s the 10th and we have snow- I’ll try to ship it express for the 15th, does that help?
Christine- Sounds like you’re doing better. Glad you’re on here and keeping positive
Dustina- I hope Jackson’s mom is okay
Hi everyone else :waving: Sorry for staying away so long. I guess avoiding people doesn’t make the hurt go away either.
Oh, Ann, honey, I SO feel for you! I was wondering how you were doing. You’re in my prayers. I think of you so often. I’m glad you’re knitting (pics, please!) but you’re right…avoiding people doesn’t make the hurt stop. We can share it, though. Know that we love you.
Today, I’m waiting for repair people and doing some editing for DH. Maybe I’ll get some knitting done. I’ve been taking it to rehearsals and have about 1/3 of one of the Knucks done. I wish I was a faster
knitter and had more stamina. I have to quit way to soon! and I just found out that DS’s GF’s birthday is next week and her family is coming to dinner. I’d LOVE to get a scarf or hat on the needles for her. Any suggestions? She’s turning 20. At least I could use bigger needles. These size 4s are not helping my hands.
Gina, he will be 10 in February! He is quite the character. I love him to bits. I got a cross stitch kit while I was out Tuesday night. I will start it some time today to see if I can do this kind of work. I got most of my Christmas shopping done too. I only have a box of chocolates and a can of nuts left to buy and I am done totally (except for the Christmas food).
Hugs Ann, the firsts are always the hardest. Try to keep yourself very busy and the next thing you know it will be the New Year. Remember we love you and will be here if you want to chat.
Yesterday we had snow, then freezing rain, then rain. Today it’s just started snowing again. When the handicapped bus comes, they are much more careful loading people onto the bus in this weather. I got some Tender Tootsie boots that just slip on and velcro closed so my feet WILL be warm this year.
