Any Sock KAL 2

Lord help and protect us from DSWIAR’s who believe every bush with in 5 miles must have lights and every surface within the house must be decorated for the Holiday’s.

What have I done, OH Lord, to require this continuing punishment, what must I do to atone?

:angelgrin::notworthy::angelgrin::notworthy:

Chris you can come here for the holidays, we haven’t put anything up yet, which is wierd for me. But even then I only do stockings, a tree & an oval painting thing that hangs on the door, but it is mostly just for the winter months, because it only has snowmen sledding on it and says something like Winter happiness or something.

Dustina (& others with kitties) how do you keep your cats off/out of the trees?

Hi all:

I don’t forget you, I look in now and then… but now I am going for physio every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The handicapped bus picks me up and takes me there and then an hour after my appointment it picks me up and brings me home. Sometimes it takes other people as well as myself, so it takes a while for me to get home. Sometimes I end up in the strangest places on my way to come home, yesterday I was at the international airport!!

Yesterday DH and I went to a mall and did the shopping for each other for Christmas. We know what we got each other, but who cares, at least the shopping is done. The grandchildren are going to get presents but all adults are going to get gift cards from places of their choosing. So the last of my shopping is to get the babies their gifts and that should be a pleasure (I have a list already).

A friend of DH’s decided that instead of sending me flowers or candy or books for a get well gift, she would give me four hours of maid service, so I am sitting here watching as the maid cleans my kitchen, bless her heart. She is going to clean the blinds throughout the house, wash the bathroom floor, clean the fridge and stove and she wiped down all the cupboards because she said they needed it and it is a hard job to do if you can’t stand up. I really like this woman. She is using a product called Vim Power Cream and everything in my kitchen is sparkling now. I have to think up a really nice thankyou gift for this woman who sent me a “Maid for the Afternoon”. If I could knit I would make her socks or something, but seeing as that won’t be happening for a while, I will have to come up with another idea (and I am open to ideas please).

OMG the maid just found a yogurt in the very back corner of the fridge, under the meat drawer, that expired in 2005. Yuck!!! I think it’s time I learn to check ALL the fridge. I swore I would not be one of the people who would clean the house BEFORE the maid came, but perhaps I should have been.

I have been getting much use from my beautiful scarf and the fingerless gloves when I go out to my physio, so I thank my Texas knitters and Dustina. Also when I am cold (which is not as often now that the new windows are in the house) I wrap up with the gorgeous afghan you ladies made for me. How cherished and spoiled I feel with all these beautiful home made treasures to keep me warm. Thanks again!

I hope all of you had wonderful Thanksgivings and that you have a lot to be thankful for. Bless you all!!! xoxo

 Christine  we love you! Glad to hear that you have someone cleaning your house, that’s kinda scary about the '05 yogurt though  but it’s ok, things happen & get forgotten.
As for an idea, what about a gift card for her to go out to supper or make her a pie or something like that?
Besides your PT how are you doing? Miss talking to you on the im, just downloaded the newer version but you weren’t online.
How’s your “Minnie ears” hopefully not acting up now.

Well I need to knit on Brian’s socks today, Christmas is only 24 days away! & I still have lots to knit on his darn socks. I’m doing them 2 at a time on one long circ, think I’m faster at just doing them 1 at a time, o well. 1 thing’s for sure they’ll definately match (row wise) this time. I usually count each row from the last decrease to where I need to start the next decrease etc. but I dont have to do that now, but I have to keep turning the socks/needles clockwise, then counter clockwise so I dont get the yarns twisted in a big mess.

Can’t quite figure this new acronym out?

my guess is, dear she who is always right

Hey Socksters!!

Julie, Jackie, and knit2btied thank you for the comments on the trees and my kitchen . I wish it had more cabinet space they are not very deep so I still don’t have it how I want it all organized and stored. However, I really enjoyed fixing Thanksgiving dinner on all that counter space no more being crammed up or having to clear to make room :yay:

Julie~Bella use to stay in the tree but I started squirting her with a water bottle…now she will lay under the tree and knock the bottom ornaments but watch me out of the corner of her eye to see if she will be in trouble…

Chris~:teehee:

Christine~:hug:so good to hear from you…always in my prayers and thoughts. I think Julie’s idea of the gc would be nice. Its nice to get the shopping out early…

I have JD’s shopping done and the kids…and the parents and grandparents…but I can’t come up with a gift at all for the 13yr old boy and 11 yr old girls…thinking maybe GC or something…I thought maybe fingerless gloves for the girls since they love when I make them something but not sure if that’s what they would want for Christmas

I got some exciting news yesterday I tried out for a sampler knitter and heard last night that she has 3 projects she could use me on but they gotta be back to her on Jan. 4th :teehee:

This morning was crazy started off we had plenty of time everyone was dressed, I was browsing the internet…and then the kids got in slow motion and didn’t want to go to school…so I ended up having to take them…and then run home take a shower…then run back for the woman’s fellowship I’ve been attending…then the weather is suppose to turn tomorrow so I wanted to get my shopping out of the way plus I knew on Friday I would be doing last minute things before mom got here…so glad to be home now trying to get something caught up…

I hope you guys have a great evening of knitting :blooby:

Hey all! Sounds like Christmas preperations are keeping everyone busy! I’m going shopping tomorrow night
My cousin Megan stayed with us last weekend and begged to make Christmas cookies (she’s 18 and goes to the same school as my brother). We haven’t made cut-out cookies in years, but broke out the recipe and made two big batches. I had some fun with making unexpected shapes, like the Christmas turkeys. When we decorated them, one of my brothers high school friends stopped over. Mom kept getting frustrated because all of us were decorating like little kids. You know, pink and blue Christmas trees, orange spotted reindeer, and so on… although when we were little I don’t think my brother insisted on anatomically correct gingerbread men or snowpeople. Or camels.
My family is going apartment shopping this Saturday. I know there is at least one place where I can get a studio apartment within my budget, that allows small dogs! :woot:
Hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow!

That is right! :cheering::cheering:

Emily good luck on apartment shopping, I’ll keep my fingers crossed about the one for small dogs!

Just realized last night that tomorrow is my last lab before the final :thud: And that I have 2 more lecture classes before the final :thud: :thud:o and I also calculated that I need at least a 60% on the final to pass. prayers please!!!

Christine
It is good to hear from you. Hope you realize that you are in all of are thoughts and prayers every day and wait on pins and knitting needles looking for updates from you.

How is your DH doing with all that is going on. Make sure that he and your daughter know how much we care and are concerned about them and their effort.

Keep up the therapy and stop in when you get a chance.

Hugs from every one of us girls.

Hi Christine! I managed to miss your post last night. I’m so glad to hear from you!
Julie - good luck in your finals!
Chris, in my household, it’s the man of the house who believes you can never have enough lights. As long as I can remember, he has always loved excessive christmas lights… there used to be one tree in town he always wanted to emulate, which I think was more light than tree. when the people moved, dad kept threatening to go see if he could have their tree. I would have been all for it, except that I know who gets to check every single bulb to see if it’s burnt out.

Hi, Socksters!
Sorry I’ve been MIA. I’m just overwhelmed with all I have to do. Not just the house stuff, but with other stuff too. I sing in our church’s band and we’re recording a CD in January, so we have rehearsals three or four days a week for several hours each time.
On the house front, remember when I told you we found termites when we did the kitchen sink? Well, it turns out, WE have to pay for further treatment. $500+ for baits and another $500 if we want a permanent treatment. Not something we budgeted for, but what else is new? I’m so tired or surprises!
On the good front, I have the kitchen set up the way I want it.

Dustina, when is the party? Were you able to get some kids to come? You got some great deals shopping! YAY! I don’t know how you get projects done so quickly!!! You amaze me!

Carey, how nice to have a new friend! Don’t forget about us here, though!

Julie, HOw’s the studying going? It’s going to take a LOT, but you CAN do it!!! (Unfortunately, you’ll probably have to cut back on knitting until after the exam!) We’ll pray, of course, but STUDY, girlfriend!!! DH’s socks can wait!
QOTD: Real! LOVE the smell of a fresh Christmas tree! Traditionally, we go cut a tree the day after Thanksgiving. Not this year, though. I bought it at Lowes when I was getting stuff for the house.

Rache, hope work gets better for you. You sound busy!

Hi Jackie and Knit2B! Nice to hear from you. Are you knitting anything?

Chris, you’ll have to send pics of your lit up house! Too bad you don’t live closer! We have a few bushes and trees that could use lights! :roflhard: Nice that you consider yourself one of the girls. Does your wife agree?:roflhard:

Christine, it’s SO good to hear from you. IMHO, I think you don’t “owe” the person who gave you the housecleaner anything. She GAVE you that as a gift. A heartfelt thank you note would be enough and then when you have opportunity, pay it forward.

Jess, it’s SO nice to have you back. Your cookie-making sounds like a blast!

Now, what to do next? I think I’ll try to tackle my office. UGH.

A friend of mine came today and spent several hours working on my computer, which is now working like a charm, thankfully. Now I will be able to spend a bit more time on here, hopefully. Tomorrow is my physio and so I will be gone in the afternoon. I’ll stop by in the morning though, to say hello.

Hugs to all, and have a great weekend!

Christine isn’t it frustrating how quickly computers get slowed down by all the junk that everyone wants to include for their, not our, convenience.

As always looking forward to hearing from you.

Gina my knitting list keeps growing, but as I told Jacob there will be no knitting until after the exams. Brian may just have to open a package with half knit socks in there and a promise to finish them, he’ll understand. I figured out that I need a 60 or above on both finals to pass with a C.

Not much else going on here, our temperature this morning is REALLY COLD, 4*. :thud:

Hi! Talk about those who do great accomplishments! I can’t believe you got a whole kitchen in order and set up already. Good luck on your office.

I’m knitting lots of plain vanilla socks. Boring to look at, nothing to brag on but just the way I like them! For some reason lately I’ve also taken to crocheting lots of doilies. It started when I dug through my WIPs looking for projects to finish and to get old yarn/thread out of the house and has ended with the purchase of more threads…

Oh, and to Jberry, good luck on those tests!

I have been sitting here wrapped in my fantastic Any Sock KAL afghan, waiting for the duct cleaners to finish freezing the house and everything inside it, and I have been examining my afghan. I’ve been trying to put a name to each of the beautiful stitches, and I suck at that job because I haven’t gotten very far. However, I did want to say that the blanket is beautiful, kept me warm when the front door had to stay open for two hours, I LOVE IT and I love all the wonderful people who knit on it or helped in any way. Love and hugs to each and every one of you.

Also, I’ve been wearing my scarf when I go to physio and my neck is lovely and warm and I’ve had several comments on the beautiful hand made scarf I am wearing, so to you three ladies who knit my scarf I say I LOVE IT and I love you as well.

My DH is upset because I won’t share either my afghan or my scarf with him. I told him he is doing a fantastic job of taking care of me, but I am selfish and won’t share my hand knit gifts with him. He is pouting!!!

Its snowing :waah: :waah: :hair:

why is that a bad thing? I need snow on the 10th and 15th so that we dont have to take our finals.
