Any Sock KAL 2

We were April Fooled by nice weather inMarch, now it feels like winter. Sad news is that we’ll have icky weather the rest of the week and weekend. blah!

Hi everyone,

I finished Lucy’s Kitty Pi last night and I felted it right away. I’ll take pictures and post them tomorrow. So far I haven’t seen her sleeping in it, but it is just dry, so I think I am over anxious.
I had a surprise visit from our Loss Prevention officer at work today. She came in to do an audit and doesn’t tell anyone before she comes. It went well though and she praised me to my manager (who wasn’t there), who proceeded to tell me that she doesn’t want to lose me as an employee. Too bad they can’t pay me enough to stay then I guess, eh? I didn’t go to school for 5 years to work in retail forever.

Julie- Those bunnies are adorable and the bath tub picture of the kids is too cute. I have been having baby fever lately (don’t tell Josh) and I got to hold a friend’s baby on Sunday during stitch n’ bitch- it was great!

Christine- Glad you’re getting ready to have a great weekend away with Frank. You two deserve it.

Chris- Happy Belated Birthday! Sorry I missed it, I haven’t been on my game lately.

Gina- What happened with your student? Did you get to do your April Fool’s joke?

Carey- I love that you forgot to bring something from home and now have to go buy something, completely defeating the point. That is so something I would do and NOT feel bad about it. There’s too many other things in your day.

Lieke- Fingers crossed about the job- you deserve it.

Carla- I used to knit tons of dishcloths, but now I can’t even make myself!

Well it’s been two weeks since my mom died and one week since the funeral. Even just saying that feels weird. It makes me feel very alone, even though I know I am not.

Ann: My DH would have a comment about the feeling alone. When I make that kind of comment he says to me “you’re never alone, listen to the voices in your head”. Of course he is just joking. I do understand what you mean though. It’s a kind of empty feeling, and I think that possibly your system is still in shock. Give it time and you will see that you are not alone. Whenever you need, any one of us is here for you. You have both my phone numbers if you should ever want to talk. Feel free to use them!

Chris: I hope you don’t have a really really good best friend… and where is the body??? You didn’t do in DSWMBA&O because she wasn’t home for your birthday did you?

Julie: I love the purse too! It is almost exactly what I was looking for. It only has one thing I don’t like and that is the lining on the inside won’t stay still. It roams all over the purse when you are trying to get things into the pockets. Other than that it is quite nice and I really like the fact that it has handles as well as a strap. Now I have to get brown shoes to match my brown purse, hehehe (shhhh don’t tell him yet, he’ll see when I come home with them). He gave me $180.00 to spend on an outfit and I would not spend that on one outfit if my life depended on it! P.S. The bunnies look really cute. The kids should like them!

mare-nitt: I look forward to seeing your finished sweater.

So tomorrow I have to be up when DH gets up and get ready, drive him to work and then drive to Cambridge (approximately one hour away). I am supposed to be there for 7 a.m. I will go “shopping” in my friend’s closet and see if she has something that might fit me. If not then we will go shopping to see if I can find anything to wear for my anniversary. I’ll be gone all day but have to be back home here for 7 p.m. when DH gets off work. I will take my sock with me in case there is knitting time.

Have a great day, see you all Friday!

morning,
mine mine, why so humid … :hot:

Marilynn - :cheering:

Julie - cute bunnies and love the kids pics in your blog. Thkx.

Dustina - kids going to Jackson’s, bet they have fun.

Ann - :muah:

Chris - yeah, where is the body ?

Christine - feeling better today ?

:grphug::grphug: :grphug: :grphug: :grphug: :grphug: :grphug: :grphug: :grphug: :grphug: :grphug:

Look, see^, lots of people hugging you. Even though I know it is entirely possible to feel totally alone even in the middle of a huge crowd of loving friends. But I’ll say it anyway - we’re all here for you! <— and one more non-group eHug, just from me personally.

I collapsed into bed right after I posted here. Still got that head-ache, but my neck hardly hurts anymore (me stressed, no way :teehee:)

QOTD: No april fools here. I was afraid the men at the job would do something to me, but no, not at all. I was to overwhelmed to do something myself.

QOTD2: I don’t know about wool, but cotton makes your feet sweat as well. My cotton/bamboo socks also make sweaty feet. I thought they got sweaty, because there was no wool to help the moisture go away, but I guess if you get sweaty feet in wool socks, it might be because they are thicker than commercially bought socks.

Julie, they are CUTE!

Ann:hug::hug::hug::hug:We are here for you (altough we can’t substiture your mom)

I’ve got some last bits to change about my paper and then I’ve got the day off. A friend of mine will come over to visit. Now, I’m going to get breakfast.

:sun: Good Morning Socksters!!

Ann~:heart::hug:wish I lived close enough to give you a big ol’ hug!

I missed some things yesterday, I’ll blame it on the little screen of the eeepc :teehee:

QOTD2: I don’t really have a problem but it’s prolly colder here…as soon as I can I switch to sandals.

Dad chose a cabled turtleneck…hereit is on ravelry, but no pictures…when I first started knitting he said I want you to knit me a sweater in a dark gray…I’m finally getting around to it :teehee:

Lieke~Enjoy a visit with your friend today

Jackie~they did and didn’t want to come home :teehee:

Christine~ohh shopping sounds like fun, hope you had a nice day! :happydance:

Julie~Those are very cute!! :yay:

Marilynn~YAY for the sleeves! :happydance:

Emily~

Gina~How is Amused coming :happydance:

Hi Sue, Lisa, Carey, Chris, Carla and everyone!

I can’t seem to start anything right now knitting wise…I finished the microwave hot pads and yesterday just looked at my knitting bag like sigh…today I really could use a project started since I have dance class wait, dr wait, and might have one at the pick up for birth cert and will finish the day out with a wait at soccer practice… I gotta hurry and decide what to cast on…

It’s suppose to be 70 here today :happydance:

I hope you all have a wonderful day of kntting :sun:

I know nothing about a body.

However, on a recent trip, I noticed I got a head of schedule in Maryland, then a little behind in Virginia, but a hand out in Georgia got me on schedule. I needed to do some fancy foot work as I fed the gators in Florida, and then walked arm and arm long the swamps outside of New Orleans. It took a shoulder to the wheel to get through Texas as I backed into New Mexico. There was some fancy leg work as I passed into old Mexico on my way to California. As I drove up the Pacific Coast I exorcised my fingers to help my knitting. In Washington State I walked out chest deep in the ocean. All in all it was a nice trip and lighten the weight on my shoulders.

I just amalgamated 3 flower arangements into 1. It was a little messy and now the flowers aren’t nearly as pretty, but I had to get rid of the dead ones.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to give flowers to someone who has had someone die? They’re beautiful and smell lovely, but then they’re dead!

Here’s some pictures of the flowers. The one with Lucy in it is the flowers from my brother and I. It’s a huge arrangement and I haven’t actually touched it yet.
The second one is from my dad and my stepmom.

I also got flowers from Josh’s friends, his brother and sister in law as well as another arrangement that I liked from the funeral.

P.S. Lucy LOVES the flowers and has knocked them over a couple times. She loves putting her face in them and taking a big whiff! She now has a big yellow stain on her head from the stamen of one of the lilies!

Juliie: Great sleepover pics. He certainly enjoyed himself. The bunnies are cute.

Chris: Great signature. I am lucky to have one very special friend who I could rely on for anything , but I don’t know about the body part.

Lieke: Glad you enjoyed the job. Will keep fingers crossed for you.

Gina: Hope your wrist is better today.

Christine: Cute purse. Shopping in a friend’s wardrobe is a good idea. I may be doing the same thing next week if I can’t find a reasonable dress to buy. I hardly ever wear dresses and hate to spend money on something to just hang in the closet. Hope the shoulder is better today.

Ann: Good to see you around. :grphug: It will take a while for you to really accept things. I hope you have a lot of good friends close by who will listen to you when you need to talk. As others have said, you can come to us anytime you need to talk.

Dustina: You are always so busy. I don’t know how you get so much knitting done.

Hi to all. Happy :knitting:
I had a great fish and chips lunch yesterday but I mustn’t do that again for a while. After lunch we wandered around a new to us dollar store. Those places attract me like a magnet. It amazes me what you can actually buy for $1.

Had to share with my knitting family a picture of my family that we took about 1 hour ago…

Beautiful family - but there no knitted item?

Jess, that recipe sounds fabulous!

Gina, I love basil, I plant it every year and end up freezing a ton, giving away a ton, and cooking up a ton of it all year round in various recipes. I’m always looking for more recipes, though!

Lieke, good luck! I’m glad the job went well! Enjoy your visit with your friend today.

Christine, cute purse! I love “shopping” like that.

Julie, the bunnies are SO CUTE! That is a great family picture!

Marilyn, good for you for already thinking of the next sweater!

Ann, that’s great about the loss prevention person praising you! Funny about the baby fever- don’t worry, your secret is safe with us. I got to hold my friend Michelle’s 4 week old baby for a couple of hours last night during our mommy meeting, it was wonderful. The flowers are beautiful, but I’ve always wondered the same thing about flowers at funerals… BIG HUGS from Texas!

Sue, mmmm, I love fish & chips!

Jackie, sorry about the heat! I’ll be suffering right along with you pretty soon!

I had a great time last night. Got to hold Michelle’s gorgeous 4 week old baby girl for a couple of hours, which was lovely. I don’t want another baby of my own, but I sure do miss when mine were that tiny. We had a great mommy meeting, and handbell rehearsal was fun too. We’re playing a really hard piece this Sunday, involving 3 different sets of bells… and it sounded really good last night!

Tonight Em has gymnastics, so I’ll get an hour to knit.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening!

Ask this question again in 6 months and you will slap your forehead when you hear the answer.

But for now thank the florist industry.

Ann big hugs from South Central PA.

Well, I didn’t April Fool the kid, cuz I was so PO’d at him! He brought ALMOST everything… I lectured him instead. He’s coming back today.:wall: If I didn’t need the money, I’d send him packing!

Julie, sweaty feet are sweaty feet. You can get some anti-perspirant foot sprays that might help…

CHristine, pretty purse. I gave up dying my hair. Can’t stand roots showing and my hair is so short I had to do it once a month. Have fun tomorrow!

Julie, the bunnies are ADORABLE! Your description of your learning style seems to indicate that you’re a kinesthetic learner with strenths in visual and auditory as well. That means you need to MOVE while you study and DO whatever you can to learn. I can send you more information if you want. CUTE pic of your family!

Mare, Ease is space for stretchiness or looseness. For example, many sweater patterns say FINISHED measurements. That means the sweater will be the measurements given when finished. If you’re BIGGER than the measurements, it will stretch. Some sweaters have negative ease (like ribbed stuff) so they’re meant to stretch. Some have positive ease which means if your measurements are SMALLER than the FINISHED measurements, it will look a little looser on you. Does that help? Let me know! You have to read carefully how they word the sizing. Some say SIZE and some say FINISHED MEASUREMENTS. I really wish they’d tell you what size they made and the model’s measurements!

Lieke, any word on the job? My prayers are with you!

Ann, honey, I feel for you. I wish I could give you a big hug in person!:heart::hug: The flowers are beautiful. I’m more of one for giving plants than flowers. they go on living (at least for a short while in my house!). So nice that you got complements from the higher-ups!

Carey, my basil re-seeds itself. I haven’t planted any in years, but still end up with plenty! Does yours? I let it flower and then shake the seeds over the ground.

Sue, hope youre feeling well!

Jackie, stay cool! Do you have Air conditioning?

Gina, maybe shaking the seeds is the secret! Mine has never reseeded itself, I always just buy a couple of new plants each year. I’ll give that a try this year!

Here’s a yummy sounding recipe that I just found on http://www.tastespotting.com/

Salmon with Pesto Spaghetti

olive oil
1 salmon fillet
3tbs pesto
200g spaghetti

Pre-heat oven to 350. Line baking tray with foil and spray salmon with oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook for 12mins or until your liking.
Meanwhile boil water, oil and salt in a large saucepan. Add pasta and cook until al dente. Drain, leaving small amount of cooking water and return to pan. Stir through 3tbs of pesto and flaked salmon. Serve with grated Parmegiano Reggiano.

Gina; thanks. I’d love more info.

Chris; it’s pretty warm here today, I put on my CPH after the pic though. still gotta take the kids Easter pics.

The KH mods posted a KAL wanting people to volunteer test a new “waterproof” yarn to make scrubbies and shower caps with. They would send the yarn and the pattern for what they called the “April Shower Cap KAL”. Several of us volunteered for this test knit. Then the next day Shandeh admitted that it was an April Fool’s joke but that she was a good sport and anyone who had volunteered would be getting a skein of yarn mailed to her. It was well done and tastefully done and a good joke. That’s the only April Fool’s joke that was pulled on me yesterday and I fell for it hook, line and sinker! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS WATERPROOF YARN!

The trip went well. I now have a few more things for my trip. I have new shoes a few more bits of makeup (and a free makeup bag to go with them), a “borrowed” suit that does not fit my friend anymore but sure did fit me well (so well I told her she might not get it back), some new moist towelettes for washing my makeup off and a lipstick brush and lipstick. I am finished now and have everything I will need for my trip.

No knitting got done today but I did get her front door lock changed, so the trip was a success all around.

Julie, what a great picture!

Carey, enjoy your waiting/knitting time

Gina, still no word on the job…I hope to hear from them today. I have to work my weekend-job tomorrow and I really want to tell them I’ll quit. But I can’t if I’m not sure about the fulltime job.

Christine, I saw the thread and I was wondering how knitwear could be waterproof. I mean, you’ve got tiny holes in your knitwear. It definitely isn’t wind-proof, so I couldn’t imagine how it could be waterproof. It was a nice joke however.

I had a great time with my friend yesterday, although she’s having some problems with her boyfriend (they just bought a house together). It sounds like me he’s working to much and going for a burn-out, but she says he doesn’t want to hear anything about that. Apart from that, we made some home-made pizza together and chatted a bit. It was nice to see her again. We don’t live that close together, so we don’t get to see each other a lot.
My masterpaper has been declined again, so I’m off to correcting some more. I totally hate the thing now.
Mom has been in surgery for her shoulder yesterday and all went well. Talked to her for a few minutes yesterday, but she was really tired so I couldn’t get a decent chat with her. I hope she’ll start feeling better soon. She was really happy with the shawl I gave her and I know that’s all I could do for her, but it still isn’t nice to see her in pain.

Lieke: Sorry about your paper. Why do they keep refusing it? Just think how pleased and proud you will be once it is finished and they accept it. Glad to hear your Mom came through the surgery well and that she liked her shawl. Have a good day!
