Any Sock KAL 2

Ann: I am glad your boss is understanding and supportive. That means a lot. You will have times when everything makes you cry, or something triggers a memory that makes you cry. That happened to me a lot, usually with music, but sometimes out of the clear blue something would just jump into my mind and I’d cry. It still happens ocassionally but it does get better with time. Hugs Hon!!! My thoughts are with you.

Yes this is the mock cable sock again. My sister has wide feet and needs a pattern that is stretchy, so I decided this was probably the best one. I will probably make hers and then finish the second red one I started ages ago for me. It’s an easy pattern and I seem to get along with it well, so I’ll do that. I’m trying to build back up to the large stuff so I can do the blankets again.

Dustina: Good luck with the spring cleaning. I have to do that soon as well. Sorry to hear about the headaches. The weather changes play hell on migraines.

Sue: I’m glad you were able to get a pair of pants on discount. I need something to wear on our anniversary trip but I hate going shopping. Everything makes me look so fat!

Jackie: How’s the weather there?

Julie: How is the studying going? How many weeks do you have left?

Lisa: We’re still waiting to see some pictures of your trip!

Chris: Walking is very good for what my DD calls “Thunder Thighs”. So long as you get your heart rate to the right speed the walking will help you a lot. My DD used to call me Thunder Thighs when I only weighed 130 lbs. but now she weighs more than I do so thankfully she doesn’t call me names like that anymore.

Gina: How’s your neck and hands handling all the weather changes?

Well I’ve lost 4 1/2 lbs by going to the gym and eating veggies and dip 6 times a day instead of two meals a day. I also have one red grapefruit a day. Perhaps I might even get healthy!!!

I finished the gusset on my DS’s socks yesterday. The day before that the weather got to me and I ended up stuck in bed the whole day. I did some reading but the vertigo was bad so the letters on the pages kept jumping around. The knitting is not bothering me too badly unless I sit here too long and knit, then my neck and shoulder cramp up. I’ve tried just knitting for half an hour at a time and then walking away. That is hard for me to do. I was used to sitting here for hours knitting, but not any longer.

This weekend we get to go pick out paint colours and new flooring for the kitchen. I am excited!!!

Be careful Christine. Our bodies need a lot more than just veggies and dip. We need protein and grains too! Several friends who are nutritionists say to follow the Canadian Food guide and you will be healthy.

I had a major headache yesterday too. I sat up in bed and almost fell back down, but eventually I got up. It really plays major havock with your body when the weather changes so quickly like it did yesterday.

Ann: We usually have one meal a day that includes some kind of a protein. Also in the morning I have cream of wheat which is my grain and my milk. Ocassionally I have a piece of cheese as well. Sometimes instead of the veggies I have a handful of whole wheat crackers, like Triscuits and those are a grain as well. Thanks for caring. I said when I started this that six meals a day would make me HUGE because I am only used to eating two, but it seems to be working. Tomorrow we have the personal trainer for the time we are there and so we will get a really good workout then. He will set us up with a program we do for the rest of the week. Each Wednesday we will have him to teach us. I am looking forward to that. They say to loose only two pounds a week and I have done that, actually each week I lost 2 1/2 lbs. Something is working, so yay!!!

Gina, thank you so much for that video. It’s great. I’m definitely going to try it!

Ann, take care and only one step at the time:hug::heart::hug:

My neck isn’t doing any better now, but I’m kind of stressed about tomorrow. Fortunately, the masterpaper is done. DBF will look at it for me tomorrow and will correct it, so I can do some last-minute correcting and I’ll hand it in on Thursday. My tutor promised me that I would be ready before 5/1, so I hope she keeps her word. If I get hired tomorrow, I’ll start at 5/1 and I don’t want my paper to spoil that. Gotta get dinner ready now, I’ll have to leave for SnB in an hour…I’m really looking forward to that. I don’t want to think about tomorrow…

Hi all! Thanks for all the kind words, I am feeling much better today. My allergies come and go all year round, but today they seem to be leaving me alone.

Julie, I’m glad the sleepover went so well! I can’t wait to see all the bunnies.

Marilyn, great to see you! I’m glad you’re sticking with the sweater- you’ll get it done!

Lieke, I’m glad your neck is getting better. Good luck with working the (possible) new job tomorrow! Can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Lisa, I’m glad your shins are getting better! Personally I don’t run unless someone is chasing me… but I’m glad you enjoy it. I need to start walking more!

Gina, you’re right, I’m the one who loves Alexander McCall Smith. I did hear about the HBO special, but alas, I don’t have HBO either. Hopefully it will come out on DVD some day!

Dustina, wow, you’ve been busy! I could use some of your motivation, there are so many things we need to do around the house. I did fix the toilet last night, though!

Christine, like Ann said, our bodies need protein! It keeps your blood sugar more even. Also, if you don’t eat enough, your body goes into ‘famine’ mode and retains everything. I think you’re gorgeous the way you are, my friend!

Chris, you are too funny. Hope things are going well in your life.

Ann, I’m glad to hear you are doing well. It’s wonderful that your employer is being so understanding! Remember to be understanding of yourself- allow yourself to continue grieving. We love you!!

Who did I miss this time? I hope everyone else is doing well!

I knit a sock over the weekend! Boy, do they go fast using big yarn! A friend gave me a bunch of leftover ‘homespun’ and asked me to make her some slipper socks. One down, about 2/3 of one to go.

Christine, you posted your reply while I was typing mine. I’m glad to hear you’re not just eating veggies and dip!

Chris, your signature is scary! Your friends may start running away!

Ann, it’s gotta be hard. Nice that your boss is understanding. I haven’t seen that show. can you get it online? Link? Take care, my friend!

Christine, congrats on the weight loss. I’ve put on a few pounds over the last year and need to get them off. I’m having to wear my neck brace more with the weather change and have to do more hand stretches and reduce my knit time a bit.

Lieke, we’ll pray that your work goes very well tomorrow and that anything that comes your way you handle with grace and ease.

Carey, you and I have the same feelings about running!:roflhard:

I started Amused!:cheering: I’m putting the MIL sweater in time out.:wall:

Good Afternoon to everyone

Dustina: I felt really tired ready about all your spring cleaning. Wish I could get motivated.

Gina: Sorry about MIL’s sweater. Very frustrating.

Ann: Glad to hear that you are going back to work gradually. It certainly will take time to adjust, but just try to keep all the happy memories alive. You are right the Martha yarn show was not great, a couple of interesting things but certainly not up to expectations from the promos. Today she had another all craft show, but I could not watch it. Rosie O’Donnell was on and she did not stop talking, Even Martha couldn’t get a word in. I couldn’t stand it and switched it off.

Christine: Glad the gym membership is giving results. I should try to eat better. My biggest downfall is cheese, which I just love, could eat it for every meal. I eat hardly any meat, but do love eggs. Not a big fruit eater either. Tomorrow I am going for fish and chips at lunchtime, so will just have salad in the evening. I hate shopping for clothes these days too.

Carey: Glad you are feeling better, allergies can be miserable.

Lieke: Good luck for tomorrow.

I am getting terrible headaches again due to the weather, it makes you feel miserable. Yesterday I had to stay home foe the plumber to fix a leak in under the bathroom sink. $105 before they step in the door, but you have to get these things done. Some friends stopped by for lunch so that was nice. I haven’t done much knitting, just haven’t felt like it. Tomorrow is another day.

Hi y’all!

Ann  glad your boss is understanding. I heard that when you loose someone close to you that you should continue to talk to them & let them know how you’re doing as you did when they were still living. Hope that is helpful advice & not some that will hurt you more.

Chistine you’re doing good, expect the weight loss to slow down over the next few weeks and for he pounds to hang on a bit longer; usuall the first week or 2 is just ‘water weight’ eep up the good work! Eating healthier will help you feel better too.

Dustina sounds like fun.

Gina thanks for the link, it’s in my youtube favs. Sorry about the MIL sweater. when you said it was in timeout I :roflhard:

Lisa I thought about you too on Sunday. Dh’s car still isn’t running right; only on 4 cylendars (sp?). I think he’ll be running mid 8s or 9’s (can’t remember) but at our altitude that’s realloy fast, we’re about a mile high here.

Lieke you’ll do fine.

Sue

Carey how are the girls doing? Can’t wait to see sock pics!

Jackie thanks. I’d love to see pictures of your tiny sock!

I finally finished my study guide for the darn 3rd exam, 5 pages later (all typed, 10 font). Now I need to study that and then finish my lab homework. 4 more weeks left!!! finals are on 4/25!
no knitting here this week, but hope to soon.

Sue: Sorry your head is bothering you. My ears went wonky but they seem better this morning, now this afternoon they are going crazy again. Don’t you just love being a walking weather forcaster? I also LOVE cheese. I don’t eat a lot of fried foods but please don’t take away my cheese, especially swiss cheese, it’s my favourite. I’ve still got two weeks to go before our trip so I won’t worry about it quite yet, perhaps on the weekend I will go clothes shopping, yuck!

Gina: Thanks, I am trying hard to be sensible and smart about all this. I just hate being this overweight.

Julie: I knew about the water weight. I take water pills for the Menieres but had run out so perhaps that is why I am so overweight? I should get the pills and start up with them again.

Carey & Ann: I follow the Canada Food Guide and eat some of everything I am supposed to eat each day, but now I am eating 6 little meals a day (I call them more like snacks than meals). It’s not all veggies and dip. I have 12 grain bread, triscuit crackers, cream of wheat, milk, cheese and eggs as well as chicken sometimes. I don’t eat red meat. I also have tuna ocassionally. Tonight we are having vegetable lasagna for supper. I only said about the veggies and dip because that saved me time on typing out all this stuff I am eating lately. I wonder how eating so much can possibly make me loose weight, but it is working, or something is anyways.

The Lauren Hutton makeup I ordered came today by UPS and the purse is supposed to arrive tomorrow by Canada Post. I was lucky to get a cute purse for $29.99 and the makeup was only $34.98 for breathable gel foundation, spot concealer/sheer concealer duo and mineral powder foundation “on the go” touchup, on The Shopping Channel. I already had a new lipstick, some blush, an eye pencil, eyebrow pencil and shadow, so I am now all set. I’ll have a manicure the day of our anniversary at the plaza next door to the hotel. They only charge $10 and I have one every year there. I’m going to test all this new stuff one day this week so I am comfortable putting it on and don’t look like a painted clown on our trip.

I only got a few rounds done on the sock today and then I got dizzy and had to lay down. I don’t want to mess the sock up when it’s this close to being finished so I put it aside for now.

Here’s a picture of the makeup. I’ll post a picture of the purse once it comes tomorrow.

I have to say this… HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY CHRIS!!!

I hope you have a really good day. Tell DSWMBA&O to treat you special tonight! :muah:

:present: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHRIS! Here’s a big birthday hug and some virtual brownies. :balloons:

Here’s a healthy food that you all are welcome to try out. It’s a work in progress but was sufficiently delicious for me to plan to make it for my friends some time in the near future. It’s easy, high in veggies, and low in fat!
I bought a container of cherry tomatos and a box of whole, fresh mushrooms, and chopped them all. Next time I’m getting a vidalia onion, too. Anyway, I added rosemary (my very favorite spice ever), oregano, basil, onion flakes, and a very little bit of salt. I diced in 3 cloves of garlic and then added a little bit (maybe a tablespoon) of parmesan cheese.
Next, I mixed up a batch of noodle dough - egg, lots of flour, a little salt, and some water because I only had two eggs and I needed about twice that much dough. Roll it out and make little raviolis! I don’t have a rolling pin at school, so my raviolis were pretty ineligant, but anyway, I boiled them up for maybe 10 minutes at a rolling boil and served with a little bit of pesto sauce. It’s virtually fat-free, just the olive oil in the pesto sauce, and the parmesan cheese (and both of these could really be left out!), can be made with whole wheat flour for added healthiness, or whatever other veggies you like can be added.
Now, the drawback here is, of course, that I did all of this by taste… so it can never be replicated exactly… but that makes it fun!
Happy Birthday Chris!

morning, i have upload the weenie tiny sock key chain in my blog. all are welcome.

I love Cat B’s Magic Loop 's animated story.

Chris - Now i know what makes you a wise man - HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY :cheering: :happydance: :clink: :balloons: :present:

Morning everyone!

Ann~ Glad to hear you are slowly getting back to work and that your boss is understanding. It will be a roller coaster of emotions for a while. Like Christine said, you’ll be going along in your day and then something will trigger a memory or something and it will hit you all over again. It’s all normal and happens to us all. Take care!

Sue~Hope the headaches ease up soon. Mine haven’t been too bad lately. I’m surprised because our weather has been crazy too.

Christine~Good luck with the personal trainer. Make sure you tell him about your neck/shoulder problem. Congrats on the weight loss! DH is losing weight too and it’s a slow process.

Lieke~Good luck today!!

Julie~The higher the altitude, the slower the car. Your DH’s car would fly here! We are only at 500 feet, but in the summer when the humidity gets high, our adjusted altitude can get up near 3500 feet. I never realized what impact the weather and humidity have on speed and engines. A friend of ours just built another (he crashed and rolled his car last year) twin turbo pro mod. Will be in the low 6 sec range.

Hi Dustina, Carey, Emily, Jackie and everyone reading along!! Hope you all have a good day!

:sun: Good Morning Socksters!!

Happy Birthday Chris :woot:

Ann~Your in my prayers, I’m so glad to read that your boss is being understanding and working the schedule out best for you…

Julie~You will be done soon hang in there :happydance:

Christine~Congrats on the weight loss!! YAY for make up :yay:

Sue~ick on the plumber! I hope you get some relief soon, I know what you mean I love spring but feel blahh till it figures out what it wants to do…then I have the same issues in the fall. My left side of my face has been swollen this time with it…:wall:

Gina~I can’t wait to see your Amused, I have to start on my dad’s sweater so I can have some progress to show him next weekend :oo:

Lieke~You will do great!! :yay:

Carey~YAY for knitting :happydance: and fixing the toilet!

Emily~sounds yummy!

Hi everyone!!

I worked on a microwave hot pad yesterday…they were fast and easy to do…today I need to work on the 2nd mitten or start dad’s sweater.

I wish I did have enough energy to be like that all the time I’m done for the week though :rofl:

I’m about to take Isaiah to school and then go after some items I forgot on my list. The kids are fighting like crazy this morning…fingers crossed for Isaiah today he has two big tests…his spelling words were kinda hard I thought this week for his grade…and then they have one the American Revolutionary War…

Roo has a big day tomorrow we have dance, dr appt for kindergarten shot, gotta pick up her birth certificate, find shin guards, and then end the day with her first soccer practice…I’m going to have to come up with some fast for dinner tomorrow, we will get home when JD is coming in…

It’s rainy here today…but still warm

I hope you all have a wonderful day of knitting :sun:

:balloons: Happy Birthday Chris. :present:

Dustina~If not running all the way by then, I’ll probably still walk it. Going to wait until the last minute to register to see how my shins are holding up. Ours is very crowded too.

DSWMBA&O spent last night with a friend that needed a ride to a Dr.s appointment first thing in the morning.

I’d rather have Girl Scouts, Brownies are just to hard to train and can’t reach the tops of the windows when cleaning.

ExxxCUSSssss me this is the 31st anniversary of my 29th birthday. Since I refuse to grow-up I also refuse to to get old.

Thanks to all
