Any Sock KAL 2

good morning, :hot: Saturday morning. We are going bowling later.

Christine - Love the new hair cut. Nice colour sock.

Dustina - hope u get back to knit soon.

Sue - glad that u enjoys the night.

Julie - how Jacob’s first sleepover ?

Lieke - hope your neck isnt giving much pain today.

Christine, you look great! I love the sock too, nice job!

Ann, we love you!!

Emily, I hope you’re finding some good audiobooks at the library. I was going to suggest that too.

Julie, how did the sleepover go?

Everyone else- Hi! Sorry, I’ve been having horrible allergies today and I need to get to bed, but I wanted to stop in and check on my family.

The sleepover went great! He loved it and didn’t want to leave. However I guess they got to watcha movie about 8:30 last night and it was over 930 ish and so then they were to go to bed and he mama thought they’d sleep because they’d played so hard earlier; well long story short they didn’t fall asleep till 11 and then they were up just before 630! Jacob had so much fun, but I think he’s glad to be home to our family & he said he missed us. He has already asked Jaxon to spend the night on Monday (not happening) and then this evening he was asking if he could spend the night at Jaxon’s house again next week, or tomorrow. :roflhard: yea right, haha.

Ann  glad you liked the card, sorry it made you cry but we just wanted you to know that we are here and thinking about you often.

Christine the socks look great but not as wonderfully beautiful as that new haircut! It’s really flattering, Ithink you should keep it like that; really I think that’s the best haircut you’ve had since I’ve known you. beautiful!

As far as knitting news goes, I’ve knit 1 bunny, think you knew that, and then Ihave the body and ears knit on bunny #2 and started the first arm; then I just have to knit one complete bunny and finish the second one. If I have time I think I’ll knit a couple more for Jaxon & his little sister, maybe out of sport weight yarn, so that they’re a bit bigger…mabe a bear if I dont have achance before easter.

Talk toyou all later & hope you have a great night.

Lieke hope your neck continues to get better. How’s work?

Chirstine, so great to hear you can knit again:woot:. I love your socks. The pattern is beautiful and I love the color.

Carey, hope your allergies won’t bother you to much today. Take care:hug:

Julie, great to hear the sleep-over went well.

About my work. It’s only an 8-hour a week job to pay for my study, so I only work on Saturday. I sell pies, bread and meat. It’s easy work, but hard on you body. I hope I’ll get a decent job soon, because I really don’t like this job. Wednesday is the day I have to work at the place I had the job-interview and if that goes well, I’ve got myself a decent job (ok, not as psychologist, but as sociotherapist, which is a lot like psychologist).

My neck is doing ok. It still hurts a bit, but managable. And without pain killers. I slept okay last night, I was completely knocked-out. I didn’t even hear Steven come home.

I (finally) blocked Laminaria last night. Mom phoned me yesterday to tell she’s got to go into surgery next Thursday, so I had to block it quickly. It came out beautifully.
Laminaria has been hanging over the back of a chair for the last 3 weeks, and now it’s gone (blocked and then wrapped) my chair doesn’t look as good as it did. I think I have to knit more lace. I’ve changed my ravelry-que a bit so next project I’ll cast on will be lace:cheering:.

Morning everyone!

Ann-  :grphug: How are you doing? I think of you often and hope that you okay.

Christine-Your hair looks great!! Is it easy to style? It’ll be great this summer when it gets hot. Your socks look great too  Pretty color. I started that pattern about a year ago, and it’s still a WIP. Only the leg of one sock is done.

Lieke-Good luck on the job Wednesday! Hope it goes well for you. Glad to hear your neck was better yesterday.

Dustina-How did the play go? Hopefully his teacher will be back soon. Kids his age thrive on consistency and it must be hard on them.

Julie-Glad the sleepover went well and he had fun. They usually don’t sleep much when they stay at each others houses. They are too excited.

Carey-Hope your allergies are better. When I was in Florida, everything down there was in bloom and something bothered me. I don’t usually have problems with allergies, but needed to get some allergy meds so I could breathe. Take care!

Jackie-Have fun bowling? I haven’t bowled in years.

Sue-Did you find any good deals at Sears?

Yesterday was beautful here, sunny and 63*. I went for a run! :woot: For the last 2 months I haven’t been able to run because of severe shin splints. Tried to heal them up and the week before Florida my doctor cleared me to start running again, but very gradually. It felt so good to be outside yeaterday running. Today my shins feel good, so hopefully I won’t have too much trouble with them again. I haven’t knit in forever, but I’m actually getting the itch to do something. Maybe finish those socks?? :teehee:
Have a good Sunday everyone!

Hey Socksters. Yep it is Marilynn. You guys are just as busy as ever, I do keep up with your posts. And enjoy.
If you remember I am the knitter who can’t seem to knit a sweater, but I can knit socks! And I always fall back to socks in time of despair.
I had another sweater faliure and then told myself there is no reason why I can’t do this. So I took a top down pattern I had and some yarn I had, measured a sweater that I had that fit me good and got gauge. And I knit the body of the sweater. Looked wonderful, tried it on and it was 1 1/2 inches to wide on each side. (It actually made me feel like I lost weight LOL) So, I got out the sewing machine and took it in on each side, it fits perferct.
I took the sweater to my knit shop and asked the owner what happpend. My favorite sweater measured 48" circumferance so I made the size 48 in the pattern. She explained that most patterns have built in ease. Ok, how am I suppose to know that, the pattern doesn’t tell me that. So I could have made a size 40 and it would have been fine.
She helped me figure out use the size 40 directions to cast on for the sleeves and finish them. So they come out right.
Knitting a sweater is such a learning curve for me, it is one thing after another. I so appreciate seeing other knitters projects, I love them. And if you will have noticed, I still have not given up on the knit.
Someday I will get it right and post a pic of me in a sweater I made. Yeah!
Thanks for letting me stop in and post this. You guys have a great day, I am going to go and try to knit some sleeves.
Marilynn

Good Morning everyone.

Christine: Your hair looks great. I keep mine short these days. The socks are such a pretty colour.

Julie: Glad the sleepover went well. Did you sleep while he was away?

Dustina: I just got one pair of pants for $32.50 instead of $65. I really was not in the mood for clothes shopping, but almost everything seemed to be reduced.

Ann: How are you doing? Think about you often.

Lisa: Glad the legs seem to be better. Hope you can get back to some knitting soon.

Lieke: Good luck for Wednesday

Carey: I hope the allergies are better today. It is grey and raining here, so I have a headache. Weather changes effect so many people.

Did anyone watch Martha Stewart’s yarn show last Monday? I taped it and watched yesterday. She went to the Lion Brand store in NYC, looked interesting. They have a sample wall where you can take small amounts of their yarns to try. The strangest though was a male crochet artist who makes masculine things with yarn, He had a lawnmower and a tool belt full of crocheted tools. The funniest though was a crocheted urinal. Here is his site
http://nathanvincent.com/section/59846.html
Goodness knows what he does with these things but he did say he was going to have a show in VA next year. She also had the lady who makes miniature sweaters that sell for $1000. Here is the site. http://www.bugknits.com/
They are incredible but I can’t imagine paying that kind of money.

Lisa, great to hear your shins are better. I’ve had shin splints a few years ago, so I know it’s no fun. Don’t overdo the running, even though the weather is nice. Enjoy your sockknitting.

I knitted a bit today, but Sunday is our D&D (dungeons and dragons) day, so I was busy playing that most of the day. We had a great time.

Lieke, hope your neck is all better soon! I, too find that too much in ANY one position/activity is bad for me!

Christine, cute hc! your glasses are very similar to mine! NICE sock!!!

Jackie, how was bowling? Fun?

Carey, did you see that the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency is now a series on HBO? Unfortunately, i don’t get HBO! (I think you’re the one who also likes Alexander McCall Smith.)

Julie, glad the sleepover went well. How did YOU do?

Lisa (love your avatar), glad you got to run again! DH and I have been out walking the last few days. Feels so good!

Marilyn, you CAN be successful on a sweater! I LOVE sweater knitting–it’s what I do most! So if you have questions, come on and ask! I think I’m on sweater #17.

Sue, that nano-knitter is AMAZING! 80 stitches to the inche! WOW! Marilyn, FIT wouldn’t matter!!!:roflhard:

I frogged a few inches of the MIL sweater and re-knit a couple inches smaller. At least I didn’t have the seams done yet! Glad I blocked before seaming. I also received 2+ balls of Nashua Cilantro and it looks like it’s the same dye lot, so I’ll be starting Amused soon! Jess, weren’t you making that? Or am i thinking of someone else? I never saw the FO!?!

Lisa I have a simple solution to shin splints - don’t run, but then does any one have a cure for butt-spread?

morning,

Yeah, bowling was fun and with my mum and my dad, it has become a family weekend sport.

Chris -simple, just dont sit :roflhard:

Lieke - glad that ur neck is feeling better. Still, dont stress.

Marilynn - :cheering: dont give up, u can finish yr sweater and dont forget to show off here;)

Gina - :happydance: for Amused soon.

Julie - for mummy, you made it for Jacob’s first sleepover.

Sue - he is a amazing guy with delicate hands. :noway: Price is heafy.

Lisa - How about taking a stroll instead of run ? or go bowling ? Yeah, is time to knit and cant wait to see your next project…

Ann :muah:

I did ok, got teary eyed a bit but was glad (and so was DH) that I wasn’t pms-ing bcause we all know what hormones are like then; we’d have had a flood in our house.

going back to the chiropractor in a min so I’ll talk to you all later.
2 bunnies are done, gonna hopefully co & finish 3 today.

:sun: Good Afternoon Socksters!

I haven’t caught up from the weekend but wanted to jump on and say HI. The play went really good both Saturday and Sunday…in between we have attacked the kids rooms and closets…getting a jump on my spring cleaning…my basement is full of boxes and trashbags, I kept saying if we do find a house and we have to pack do I really wanna bring this with me? I think now I’ve gotten to the point to just get rid of it…i scrubbed the downstairs this morning…upstairs this afternoon…but I think all I have left to do is put out my spring decorations, wash the curtains/blinds, and throw all my raggedy ann/bears into the dryer for a fluff : )

If I get all this done today then tomorrow I’m doing nothing but knitting :teehee:…also I want to re-touch the doorways and get Isaiah’s room primed the re-touch will happen this weekend…the primer might have to wait till after Easter though.

I hope you guys are having a great day of knitting :sun:

wondered where you’d been, Dustina.
You’re gonna re-paint before you move? wow you’re a super nice renter!

no knitting done yet today. I’ve started making up my exam 3 study sheet & have fixed the bridal shower invite list (that took a couple hours) and so now I’m gonna try to do some more homework; the older 2 are going to watch “Bolt” Katie’s down for a nap & well see how that goes.

morning,

i knitted a Tiny Wee Sock keychain last night, o my, is so fast than a regular size sock. :happydance:

dustina - are u moving far from you stay now ? your backyard hill is REALLY a nice place

julie - y are so a hardworking mum with your studies.

First, this is a sock KAL, right…So I was looking for a video of a provisional cast on and found a FANTASTIC video for toe-up cast on! It’s Cat Bordhi demonstrating Judy Becker’s magic cast on. REALLY good teaching and EASY!!!

Chris, cure for butt-spread is walking! No shin splints if you don’t go too fast, but go far, my friend!

Julie, can’t wait to see the bunnies!

Dustina, you’re painting a rental?!? Who pays for the paint?

So I re-knit the tops of the front and back and sleeves of the MIL sweater using the same yarn I knit it in before, but making it shorter, right? It looks TERRIBLE!!! I should have used new yarn. :wall: I was at work when I finished and had some time to start seaming, so I did. Big mistake. I should have at least re-blocked it first. Now I have to rip seams AND re-block and most likely re-knit. :hair: So I’m setting it aside and starting Amused.

Hi to everyone!

Ann, I’ve been thinking a lot about you. You okay?

Ann~:hug::heart::hug:

Jackie~ I know I love it out here, we haven’t found a new house…we are taking a break from looking :teehee:

Gina~Prolly if I went to them they would have but we did…they have been so good to us and have become like grandparents to the kids…I like that cast on, I’ve done it on a few test knits and it looks good too:thumbsup:

Julie~yeah that’s going to be hardest part when we do find a house…saying bye to them, I will worry about them. We help them with the grass cutting and then I try to beat him down the hill to get the empty trash cans and take those back up to them…we have become pretty close to them…Mom is bringing Bolt up for Isaiah…it looks cute

Lisa~We have been in the 50s and been taking walks in the woods…it does feel so good to be back out and about…JD has been running trying to get ready for the Susan G. race.

Marilyn~ I’m going to be making my first adult sweater soon, you can do it!!!:woot:

Lieke~fingers crossed for ya, hope your neck is still doing better

Carey~I hope your feeling better this time of year and fall drives me crazy

Sue~:wall: I forgot to set the tivo up for her show…thanks for the links…

Hi Christine, Chris, Carla, Karina, everyone!

Also for the touch ups it’s more for me than them, it’s driving me crazy :teehee:

Well I’ve done everything on my list except wash the curtains…JD’s plan for my computer didn’t work so now he is on to Plan B…it might be this weekend till it fixed…I told him not to worry about in the evenings this week, he has such long days when he comes home we all swarm around him and I don’t want him fussing with the computer :teehee:

Isaiah’s teacher sent home a note today for her days missed it kinda sounded like maybe complaints were coming in…but she went on to say she would be out again this Friday :teehee:…I really like her and trying to stay positive on it, but I can tell it’s hard on the kids…

Ok I’m off to fold some laundry and then head to bed soon…Jd meets with the sedation dentist tomorrow…oh and Roo found out tonight who her soccer coach is…practice starts Thursday at 5…we are still waiting to hear from Isaiah’s coach…

Have you been talking to DSWMBO&A? She keeps saying - “out the door and keep walking”

Morning!

Ann~

Dustina~The Komen race here is in May, but I haven’t registered yet. Going to wait and see how the shins hold up. Just reading about all you do in one day exhausts me! :teehee: You are one busy woman!

Chris~I know not running would prevent the shin splints, but no can do. I’m addicted. Just walking is boring for me, I need the challenge. If running this time around causes another injury, I will have to stop. I am going super, super slow this time, actually alternating walking and running at 1-2 minute intervals to get built back up.

Gina~Thanks for the link. I’ve book marked it. Sorry to hear you’ll have to frog the sleeves and redo.

Marilyn~Nice to see you around. Hang in there with the sweaters. You’ll get it. Show us a pic when you get it done!

Jackie~Any pics of the Wee Tiny Sock keychain??

Julie~Good luck with exam3! Hope it goes well for you. I thought of you Sunday when Nascar and NHRA drag racing were on. We start racing at the end of April. DH has the bigger motor in his car this year and will be going faster. Should be in the mid-8 second range.

Hi to everyone else out there! Hope all is well. Have a great day!

Hi everyone,

Started back at work yesterday and had some rough moments. I seem to be okay at home and then want to cry half the time at work. My manager scheduled me for a day of work and then a day off, then a day of work then a day off so that it wouldn’t be too much for me. So that means I’m off today!

Gina- Thank you for thinking of me. I am doing okay. As well as I can. I just have times where I miss my mom so much. I’m going to have to watch that video. My first toe-up socks were done with the figure 8 cast on and I hated it.

Dustina- I wonder why Isaiah’s teacher is away so often? Thank you for the hugs!

Julie- Good luck on your next exam- when is it? Did the kids like Bolt?

Christine- Nice hair cut- you are more adventurous than I. Is that the mock cable sock pattern again?

Carey- Ugh, aren’t allergies awful? I don’t know what I am allergic to, but I am all watery eyed and sneezy in the spring. Hope you feel better.

Lisa- I always admire those who love to run. I want to love running, but anytime I try I end up not liking it. I prefer the eliptical at the gym in front of the tv :teehee:

Sue- I heard about that Martha Stewart yarn show and that it wasn’t that great. I watched a bit of it on her website, but it didn’t really interest me.

Well today I’m going to tidy up and maybe do a big clean if I feel like it. I am also going to knit more of Lucy’s Kitty Pi and watch the first episode of The Tudors season 3 online. Anyone else like that show?
