Any Sock KAL 2

Ann: You’re most welcome. That poem was read at my mother’s funeral and I thought you would might like it. Take care my friend! ((((Ann))))

Julie: C’mon Mommy, let him be a big boy. He will be fine. I bet he’s a lot less worried than you are.

Carey: Hi!

Jackie: Thanks, it was hard to do, but better than not having them there at all!

Gina: They called my DH yesterday on his cell phone to apologize for the burn. He is annoyed at me for telling them. I told him he has to let them know so that it doesn’t happen to anyone else. I’ll post a picture of my sock here, but it’s small right now.

The mock cable socks are coming along nicely. I have 4" done of the leg (including the ribbing) and the pattern only calls for 5 1/2" of leg, so I feel I am doing well. My shoulder is sore today so I am going to rest it and carry on knitting again tomorrow.

It is beautiful and sunny here today so I am going to take Boots out for a walk.

Oh, the landlord came last night to get the lease signed. I am soooooo excited! He is going to put new windows in this year, have the driveway paved, put down a new kitchen floor and he told me to get an estimate on having the apartment painted, to pick out the paint colours and he will go get the paint for me and pay for the labour because the apartment was not painted when we moved in! It will be like living in a whole new apartment (but still with the same tenants upstairs dammit).

OK so here are the socks. The flash makes them look more blue than they are. The colourway is called Faded Denim and that is exactly what it looks like. I am pleased with the results. Thanks for getting the yarn for me Sue! Ann, this is the same colour you sent to me and I am going to make myself a pair of socks with it in the same pattern.

:wall: how does the network site time out while typing a post?

:sun: Good Morning Socksters

Ann~:hug: :heart::hug:

Julie~He will be ok, just make sure he knows that your ok with him going…something I always tell Isaiah is you know what you can do and not do…be polite, ask, say thank you…if I wouldn’t let you do it in our house then you can’t do it there (like jumping off couches and putting holes in walls) :teehee:

Christine~Those are going to be so pretty, rest your shoulder, and YAY for the landlord! :yay:

Carey~Glad she is doing better, have fun tonight! :happydance:

Sue~Have fun today sounds like fun :yay:

Lieke~ to knitters 2 days is like 2 years

Jackie~I tell ya those two are two peas in a pod…and Jackson is like a little Dennis the Menace he does better here now but at first whoa…one hyped up kid…I just holler at him now like he is one of my own

Gina~Mom asked me why I just didn’t do a brown thumb…but I had to get all the colors back in it :teehee:…YAY for knitting time!

Emily~I feel that way sometimes too…we will be thinking about you next weekend

Hi Lisa, Carla, Karina, Steve, Chris, and everyone! : )

Thanks for the comments on the thumb

I talked to mom yesterday and she said they got about 1.5 units in papa before he said he was full and done for the day, she said the nurses were like ummm but you still got some left? He wasn’t having it though…she has to take him back today to check the levels, I haven’t heard anymore. She said she was sitting there knitting and one of the nurses told her she knitted and was working on her first pair of socks but couldn’t figure out how to join…so mom helped her out, mom was excited to help someone with their knitting :yay:

Today is one of those days for me and it’s just 1, really it started yesterday…Isaiah forgot to tell us he had a spelling test, when I asked he said no…he brought home a spelling test yesterday (he takes it on Wed, then a second chance on Fri) that lead us into a cram session for today…JD was up most of the night tossing/turning/coughing…then at one point he said did you switch our pillows when you put the new sheets on…I couldn’t tell if I was dreaming or what so I don’t know what I answered him but he didn’t take my pillows, I don’t think…then Roo was up early…then the kids had to put up their clothes last night but this morning none of the clothes could be found, so of course now the upstairs is a disater area…we were late to the school trying to find Roo pants. Then we got to the school and it’s another sub, I think this is why Isaiah is staying confused his teacher has missed a lot latley. It’s just been crazy/hectic/frustrating…:teehee: We have play practice tonight or the boys do (Jackson/Isaiah) Roo doesn’t so she is not happy. Then we have the play tomorrow night and Sunday morning…I’m off to move clothes around, decorate the outside, and maybe help the kids upstairs…

I hope you all have a wonderful day of knitting :sun:

I keep forgetting to ask this…have any of you tried Malabrigo sock yarn or lace yarn? Is it as soft as the worsted (that’s all I’ve ever tried)…I keep thinking maybe I’ll try their lace yarn for the shawl I wanna do for the fair this year…and sock yarn 'cause well I love my sock yarn :teehee:

Christine that’s apretty sock!

Dustina I haven’t tried their sock or lace yarn, but lots of people sure do seem to like it.

Jacob’s very excited to go & I’ve been reminding him to be polite & such 7 not t act different in their house & to listed to his parents etc. I remember Mom having these talks with me not so long ago it seems.

Christine, that sock looks great!

I just received the most lovely card from all of YOU! It was such a lovely surprise and such a thoughtful thing to do. I will have to reread all the messages because I had tears streaming down my face while I read the first few.
Thank you all so much for everything you have done for me. I don’t know what I would do without the support of my KH family.

Dustina - hope your day improves a bit as time goes on. I have the Lace Malabrigo and it is wonderfully soft, love it. When I first got it it scared me a bit because it is quite thin (the first lace weight yarn I bought) and when you wind it up the fibers can stick a bit together. was quite worried that it would break, but it never did. I will definitely be buying more of it when I have some more money. The sock yarn is on my list of things to also buy, but so far I haven’t tried it.

Emily - I hope you have a nice drive. Would you save time driving through the city instead of around it? I know if you tried to drive through London it most likely would take you most of the day, complete nightmare, would definitely save time driving around.

Julie - I feel for you. I am sure Jacob will be fine, you however will probably be clock watching all night waiting for the call and then when it does not come be slightly miffed that he got on so well without you. That is how it was for me anyway. I hope he has a great time and you will be able to spend some special time with the girls.

Ann: Sue made the card, collected the messages, printed them out and mailed the card to you. We are ALL here for you! Reach out anytime and we will be here to help you through this difficult time. That is what family is for and we ARE a family! I share more with you members than I do with my real life family. I`m sorry the card made you cry, but at least they were tears of love. Take care of yourself my friend!

Ann

Ctrl+Alt+ up arrow rotates your screen 90 degrees. I plan to use this to shock my Evo lab partners, Mike was amazed to learn that a laptop can be opened all the way to lay flat on the table! Muahahahaha

I have no idea. Since its a straight shot on the interstate (as opposed to actually having to wind through multiple freeways), and Chicago is such a massive metro area (so it would take a HUGE loop to go around), it seems like going straight is the best option, and my dad (who has driven through many times) is the one telling me that I’ll have to go through. Brenna says it isn’t so bad, if you don’t hit it in bad traffic. I’m looking for places within sight of the interstate (I get disoriented when I’m driving in Illinois… the river is on the wrong side, even when its so far away I can’t see it! and I totally don’t want to get lost in Chicago!) that I can stop and spend some time if I hit traffic and want to wait and see if it goes away.
I wish audiobooks weren’t so expensive… I’ve never had to go so long without talking to someone, or doing something with my hands, or reading a book. Music only goes so far, and talk radio is SO not an option. Even the really irritating audiobook voice actors are better than nothing, I guess.

Emily - how about podcasts. I know Ron downloaded a load for free off of Itunes. some knitting ones for me and funny etc for himself. quite a few different subjects on there that does not cost anything, at least over here. I don’t know if Itunes is set up differently for US costumers.

Jess, I had to laugh about your upside down screen! I used to sub for computer classes and kids would do that on purpose to confuse the teacher or make another kid mad. Fortunately, I had software at the desk that I could freeze their computers, so they learned pretty fast not to mess with me or they’d have their computers frozen!
I’d drive with you, but we’d have to meet up first! I’d say drive through Chicago, but leave at 10 AM. I have the same doubts at times. You’re really OUR friend on here, and I’m sure your other friends love you, too! Oh, and you can get audio books from the library. Most libraries even have downloadable ones. FREE!

Lieke, hope you got your work done today!

Sue, hope you had a good day with your friend!

I’ve done NO knitting today (yet) but I blocked MIL’s sweater and it GREW! I’m SO MAD! I tried to squish it up while blocking it…Grrrr.

Carey, have a fun dinner! So nice not to have to cook! (We had hot dogs for dinner. I didn’t cook, either!)

Christine, YAY on the changes! Did you get them in writing?

Dustina, It’s hard on kids when there’s a sub. It’s hard on the sub, too! Hope the teacher is back soon! Hope your day got better!

Ann, I’m so glad you got the card! We didn’t mean to make you cry, but we do want you to know how much you mean to all of us!

morning,

Ann - Oh my dear Ann, that card from us is not to make you cry, is to cheer you:grphug: . Now u see, u are making me cry again…bad bad !!

Julie - what !! only 20 mins away!! (sorry, now that i have been thru the stage of Jayne “staying over 1 night away from me” sega :happydance: i m been naughty:mrgreen: Hey, dont worry, Jacob will be just fine like Jayne. In fact she is looking forward to the next one that is on the 16April (coming soon). I m sure after this, Jacob will be asking when can he go again :teehee:

Dustina - it is nice to have a “2 peas in a pod” - brotherly love buddies. i have Malabrigo Lace, Worsted, and Silky Merino each but not doing yet. I heard of good recommention from Raverly about them. Gotta to be good :knitting:
Sue - have a fun day with your friend (knitter), there a plenty to chat yak-about

Carey - you too, have a nice dinner and the girls will be delighted too.

Jess - How is your pc ?

Thanks! Chris is helping me with library audiobooks. Karina, I’ve never really gotten into podcasts… I’ll see what I come up with for audiobooks, though… tonight my internet is being screwy (you would think that IT would keep the school network running smoothly during registration week, wouldn’t you? No… in fact, two years ago they chose registration week to RECONFIGURE, and wound up screwing up the entire system. Teachers would go into the system and discover that they were supposed to be teaching two classes at once, or students would find their schedules rearranged without their knowledge.
I’m glad you’re all my friends, and I do know that my friends all actually like me.
I can’t leave home until after class - my last class gets out at 2.

Good Morning all.

Ann:  to you.

Christine: The sock looks great. That pattern is easy and the colour is nice.

Julie: How did the sleepover go?

I enjoyed my day with friends yesterday. Not much knitting though. This morning I am going to check out the 50% off pants sale at Sears.

Happy:knitting:

Ann:

Well, my pain-meds stopped working yesterday evening and by the time I wanted to sleep, I was in a lot of pain again. I ended up with 2 hours of sleep last night (had to wake up early because I had to work). I did go to work, but with an attitude that if I’d get more pain, I’d go back home. Well, that was the best decision I made this week. I was a bit more carefull at work, didn’t lift any heavy things, but tried to do my job as good as possible. My neck feels a lot better now. I think I needed moving and with the masterpaper, I wasn’t able to move a lot (I had to sit behind my pc and typ a lot, so not good with neck pain). I’m dead tired now, but well, what else do you expect after a 2-hour-sleep-night. I think I’ll knit a bit and go to bed early tonight. Hopefully my neck keeps feeling like this.

OK so I promised a picture of me with my new hairdo. This is supposed to be the Rihanna look, but I sure don’t have her money, and thankfully I don’t have her boyfriend either!!! Here it is…

:sun: Good Afternoon Socksters!!

Ann~:hug::heart::hug:

Christine~ Love the hair cut, in the summer time I’ve been known to go that short and then let it grow out during the winter…this year though I didn’t make it and got it into a short bob around Christmas time :teehee:

Gina~Yeah his teacher has missed most of March…but her husband had an accident and she has to take him to appts so I’m trying to look at it that way but still…you can see the result of her being missing in the kids…like the test I found out from another mom that there were no spelling tests handed out…that the sub on Mon and Tues didn’t then Wed his teacher was back and tested them…then she was gone again on Friday… :teehee:

Lieke~:hug:I’m sorry you are in pain again, take it easy!!

Sue~Did you find a good deal on some britches? I need to do that for Isaiah, he is in a growth spurt and I can’t keep up…:teehee:

Julie~How was the sleepover?

Karina and Jackie~Thank you, think I’ll give the lace a try first and then later the sock yarn since I have soooo much sock yarn :teehee:

Hi Carey, Chris, Lisa, Carla, Everyone

We have been spring cleaning today and now the kids are outside playing…they have their play tonight and Roo is all excited.

I haven’t knit since Thursday and then it was just a dishrag at Roo’s dance class…haven’t knitted much since I finished the mitten :teehee:

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :sun:

Christine, I love your hair cut.

Dustina, hope you get to knit soon.

Here are a few pictures of the socks I am knitting right now, because we are a sock KAL as well as a knitting family. It’s been a while since I was allowed to do any serious knitting so I am pleased to show off, just a wee bit. Here’s the pictures… leg & front of heel, leg & back of heel, turned heel. Also these colours are more true because I took the pictures outside just now.
