Any Sock KAL 2

Thank you Gina! I went there and found all kinds of tutorials on knitting socks. Even has it in PDF format. Again, thank you for the information!

Carey how long is the vent from the dryer to the outside wall? They have brushes, like used by chimney sweeps use, to clean dryer vents. It is a brush on a Long, long wire handle. run it through the dryer vent to clean put all the lint. If you have easy access to the vent hose it might be easier to replace it.

Carey: Hope you get the dryer fixed up soon. Not only Americans watched the inauguration. I watched most of the day. I have never seen one before, so it was very interesting for me.

Gina: Glad you enjoyed Red Lobster. Are you feeling better? I know all about thyroid problems too. Sorry you had to frog part of Hey Teach.

Lieke: The socks look great.

Dustina: Too bad about the Olympic sock wars problems. Very frustrating.

Ann: The snow does look pretty when fresh but I hate to drive in it or shovel it. I think our patio doors are frozen also and I had to chip away at ice to get the garage open today.

Karina: Love the blanket. I hope your family are all better soon.

Christine: We see quite a few Cardinals here. I hope to get a closer picture one day. They are usually in pairs.

I watched the inauguration for most of the day. As I said in my message to Carey, I found it all very interesting as I had never watched one before. Some of the people must have been so cols waiting for so long. I did some knitting but discovered a mistake later, so I am now back to the beginning of my second sock again.

I seem to have found my knitting-mojo back. Although I’ve got a LOT of work to do on my masterpaper, I want to knit all the time, so every bit of spare time I have, I try to squeeze in some knitting. I’ve almost got the first sock I’m making with panda cotton done, so there’ll be another picture from me soon. I still didn’t find time to buy a zipper, so avast is still almost done. I think going back to 2 projects on the needles at the same time was a good decision. I enjoy my knitting more, because I can actually finish some things for a change.

Gina - I hope they can sort your meds out so you feel better soon. Sorry you had to do more frogging.

Lieke - Glad you got your knitting mojo back. I so agree. I have finished 3 projects in Jan. Which is shocking everybody in my house I can tell you, but it does make me desperate to pick up my needles to see what else I can do.

Chris, my laundry room is in the middle of the house, so the dryer vent turns upwards immediately from the wall and goes up to the roof. This house is 25 years old, so it would not surprise me to learn that the vent needs to be replaced.

Sue, what did you think of the inauguration? I thought it was a bit funny when the chief justice flubbed the oath of office (funny in a sad way, I guess) but I really liked Obama’s speech.

Gina, I’m glad your students got to watch it! It turns out Emily did get to watch it, and she was very happy about that. They all ate lunch in their classrooms instead of in the cafeteria yesterday so that they could watch in on the computer.

Lieke, hurray for knitting mojo!

If I missed anyone, Hi! Hope everyone is having a lovely day.

Tonight is my ‘moms of young children’ group at church, which means lots of fellowship with good friends, and lots of knitting time too. After that I have handbells, which is also lots of fun. This Saturday I’m having a dinner party for my mommy group and families. Should be a lot of fun! I’m making pasta fagioli, and everyone else is bringing something too. I have lots of cleaning to do before then, and I just set up an appointment for Sears to come clean my dryer vent that morning. I just love having a houseful of friends.

:blooby: Good Morning Socksters!

Karina~Thanks for the link on the group, I joined :happydance:

Julie~That is usually what we got was Dells…but now JD builds ours which makes its nice :happydance:

Ann~The snow is soo pretty! It depends on how long I have to work on them, I started those back in Nov but didn’t work on them for weeks at a time…if I worked just on them and the family let me work on them…prolly a week or so…(cause the family could never just let me work on them for a week) :teehee:

Carla~I haven’t tried the CottonTot, wally world only sells sugar n’ creme and I don’t have any other places to go but the LYS :wall: …it’s not the sock wars it’s the smackdown contest…but the lady that runs smackdown took over sockwars and that seems to be why smackdown is now a mess… :teehee:

Carey~I agree with the CEO…and all the money celebs get for movies…I wonder if they volunteered their appearances this past week …Isaiah’s school did a mock election and he voted for Obama (his daddy is as far right as can be so it’s been interesting here) but the school educated them on the different views, choice, and then let them vote. So Isaiah was very very happy on Election night and then yesterday they let them watch it at school and when he came home he wanted to watch the parade…I love history and all of that so I’m hoping it sticks with Isaiah too :yay: That sounds like a lot of fun!

jess~That is wonderful that your brother gets to go to Spain! :happydance:

Debbie~ I agree with Gina that is what I looked on when I gave 2circs a try :yay:

Gina~Well there are too many still in the game…but too many broken links to connect us all, I’m not the only one this time getting no socks. I don’t know what they are going to do…I’m sorry you had to fog the entire bodice! I know that will happen to me and one reason why I keep putting off knitting my own sweater

Sue~It is neat to watch, and I love hearing the history about the day :happydance:

Lieke~Yay for the mojo returning!!

Hi everyone :happydance:

JD’s car wouldn’t go today it’s sooo cold again here…and we are back under a weather advisory for snow :wall: …he parked his car at the end of the driveway so he was able to back mine out and around it to get to work today. My car just doesnt’ do very well in the snow, so hopefully he will make it home before the snow begans (although it’s spitting snow now) :teehee:

I need to do laundry today and run the sweeper, then I’m hoping for some knitting time on the socks.

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :blooby:

Well Dh is home today with a head cold; happy happy joy joy-not.
Jacob’s off from school & my IT neighbor has my laptop. I bought the wireless stuff yesterday & we can’t get the laptop to work. He brough over his & it has the wireless card in it; finally he go his to connect then asked if he could take mine home; sure. So we only have the desktop hooked upto wireless, what’s the point
OK sorry for the minor rant. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some homework done today, got about 1/2 of it done yesterday. Still have 1 chapter (13pages) to read today & all of the lab homework still to do. Don’t remember what all that is, but I wrote it down.
Also need to give Jacob a haircut & go to the shoe store to try to find silver shoes for my sisters wedding; silver :hair: because white or black wouldn’t do, or even tuerquoise to match the dress :wall: I keep telling myself, "it’s her wedding."
OK sorry for that rant, I need to knit/spin because I’m going nuts! I finished Dh’s first sock, last Tuesday or so & started the second. But haven’t picked it up since then, and want to do it. Tomorrow I have a dental appt at 8:30 so I’ll at least take it with me (watch them be on time & I wont get to work on it).

Hope all y’all have a great day!
PS I didn’t watch any of the inaguration (sp) because I’m sick of the entire ‘big deal’ that they’ve made out of this one. So a black man is president-he’s human so what’s the big deal for. Also I dont like him & his ideals-but that’s another rant.

Julie - I can tell from your post that you are definitely not having a good day. sending you a big hug and hope you get to knit and spin and feel better later.

 Julie:hug:

Julie, I didn’t watch the inaugration either. I am sick of the whole thing. I didn’t vote for him and just can’t make myself listen to him. He scares me half to death.

Carey: I found the whole day very interesting. I didn’t watch much of the parade though. I agree it was a strange when the chief justice flubbed the oath of office. I didn’t realize that it was his mistake until it was mentioned later. I don’t follow politics normally so yesterday was all new to me.

Debbie, glad it helped! How’s the sock coming along?

Sue, stay warm!

Lieke, I try to do that–two projects at a time.

Karina, Thanks!

Carey, have fun tonight!

Dustina, you’ll do fine with a sweater! I just kept changing my mind on what size to make and then making dumb mistakes!

Julie, it sounds like you’ve got your hands full with DH home sick. Ugh. Hopefully, he won’t be too big a baby about it!:roflhard: Hope your day gets better! I didn’t vote for O either, but it IS historic, so I thought it important for the students to watch it. Most of them are SO ignorant about current affairs.
I’ve got silver shoes (sandals) you can borrow! What size do you wear?

Christine, are you warm enough? Hope you’re doing okay! Did you find a cervical collar to give your neck a rest?

Gina: no I haven’t found one yet. I keeping looking but nothing so far. I’m bloody good and cold these days but there’s nothing I can do about that. The thermostat is upstairs and we downstairs have no control over the heat (or lack thereof). We both have colds again so I am coughing again, which is not helping matters much. To top that off the menopause has struck full force and I am having hot flashes day and night, about one every hour and a half. The sweat runs off me in rivers and then because it is so cool down here in my dungeon I freeze. The worst part is the night time. The “power surges” wake me up each time and it takes forever to fall back to sleep again. Because I can’t knit much all I can do it read and that is not helping much because I can’t seem to concentrate on any book. And life goes on…

I too watched the inauguration yesterday. I had never bothered to watch one before and because this one was history making I decided I should watch it. It surprised me when the Chief Justice bungled the oath, but Obama was not going to say it wrong and just kept on waiting, finally stepping in with the correct words himself when it was recited wrongly the second time. It did appear at first that it was Obama’s mistake but I too learned later whose error it had been.

Hiya kids,
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, mostly I’ve been lurking n stuff but this last week we had a family emergency. One of my sons, John, contracted mono (he thinks from work) and that caused his spleen to start bleeding.

They gave him two units of blood in the ER but thankfully that was it. They kept him in ICU for 5 days and he just now got out today and into his own room. But then they aren’t going to let him go home for another 10-15 days. Oi!! I stayed up there with him the whole time he was in ICU and now that he’s in his own room and out of the woods, so to speak, I finally came home to do some laundry for him and myself. Talk about scary. They (the ER staff) were doing a great job of keeping him calm n stuff. But I knew what was going on and just how close to losing him we were.

They gave him a clean bill of health where the mono is concerned, but because they did all they could to save his spleen, he has to stay in longer.

DebbieJ, I totally agree with you hun. Don’t feel bad, the man scares the be-jesus outta me too!!

Gina I wear a 8.5 size. thanks. I found some today that I think will be ok & I might even wear again.

I agree with Tami & DebbieJ-dont like the man, but I do have to say that he is our president now and so I will pray for his safety & the safety of the country etc.

My neighbor got our laptop going again & I’ve downloaded a ‘trial’ anti viral thing and now the damn cpu screen is just black, :hair: I’ll turnit off tonight and let it ‘rest’ maybe it’s jus tbeing tempermental. I hope so b/c I spent $70 on that darn card that I can’t take back bc I bought it at circuit city to ave 10%-guess sometimes being cheap isn’t so great.
Dh is alive & trying to help, he’s not being a baby this time.
Tomorrow I have a dental appt at 830 and then will go clean gmas house…so talk to you all tomorrow afternoon/evening
night night
Tami so glad he’s ‘outta the woods’ we’ll add him to our prayers tonight-get some rest.

Tami, I will keep your son John in my prayers. Wow guess I didn’t realize mono could cause that much damage. . . so scary! Prayers for you to, being in the hospital like that is so draining. Do you have your knitting? Take care of yourself.

:hug:Julie  :clink: :clink: Thought you might need a couple after dealing with your computer.

I hope everything continues to improve for your son.
My brother got mono a couple of months ago - was sent by ambulance from the urgent care place at his university to the emergency room because his lymph nodes were so swollen that the nurse was afraid they would cut off his air (I swear this is so typical of my brother… his lymphatic system goes haywire at the slightest sign of trouble)… took a week to recover and then returned to his regular triathlete workout routine and all. With the added bonus of being able to tease my mom’s boss, who he sometimes runs with, about not pushing too hard because he “has an enlarged spleen.” (Mark can still run my brother into the ground… hehehe)
My cousins say my bro and I are like little energizer bunnies… we never stop ie we never sleep… just he’s more intense than I am.

Thought I would share a photo of one of my newest goldfish, the absolutely adorable Dog:

And I have $4 off in coupons from Petco, so I need to decide what my aquariums need. Another goldy? Decorations?
Just so you know, in between fish and homework I have been making progress on my tam… 12 more rows!:woohoo:

:blooby: Good Morning Socksters!

Gina~I have some bulky yarn for the sweater, I thought that would make it go faster…just gotta decide on my pattern and find time

Christine~Sending you hugs

Tami~I’m so sorry to hear about your son, but glad he is ok. You are all in my prayers!

Julie~I hope the computer works for you today and everything goes well

jess~Very cute!

Hi everyone!!

I didn’t vote for him either :teehee: but I did watch parts, cause one I like the history of the day and two 'cause he is our President now even though I don’t have the same views, and because it was historic, and it was kinda exciting to see how others were so excited…I have to respect the office and pray for his safety and our country’s.

I turned the heel on my test knit sock yesterday…I can share this one with you 'cause it was a re-test the pattern is already out there so I will get pictures later. I did hear from my main designer that I test knit for last night and I have another sock to do by the 28th. That is one way to get me back into knitting socks

Roo is excited 'cause she gets to go to dance class this morning…her last class was before Christmas and then they took a 2wk break like the schools did, but since then we have had snow or ice and it’s been cancelled…so she is very very happy this morning :yay:

Other than that not much planned but the usual cleaning up and putting stuff away. It’s suppose to be warmer today so that’s good :happydance:

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :blooby:

Tami, sorry to hear about your son. Hopefully he’ll get well soon. Take care and think about yourself a little bit. You’re no use to him when you’re stressed out and exhausted. Take care.
