Welcome to the KAL, which pattern are you working on? Is there a certain part that is confusing? I’m sure we can walk you through it
All I’ve done so far is about an inch of ribbing. I don’t really have a pattern, yet. I am going to start one next week. I am getting over the flu or some other bug. I have been sick now for 3 weeks, but am on the mend!
Than you all for your input and welcome.

:blooby:Good Afternoon Socksters!!
Ann~YAY for looking at a house, it is fun/stressful/nerve wrecking wrapped into one. We have looked at alot of houses here but still holding out for the ‘perfect one’…I have a notebook fill of papers and questions I write as they come to me. :happydance:
Carey~JD would it if I would say sure let’s go. He is into looking up his last name and understanding the history…I would love to visit there but move? I’m not sure about that :teehee:…:woot:YAY, for the washer and dryer…
Christine~Great picture of your dh :yay:
Gina~I’m sorry you had to frog, but glad that you enjoy working on it…I want to knit me a sweater sometime this year :yay:

Chris~yeah he found somewhere that mails I guess a whole haggis no can…so he is all excited…:teehee:
I’m on the little computer this afternoon so it’s kinda hard to keep up with all the posts, I should use this more and then I would get more use to it.
I’ve been working on my mitten today and trying to stay warm, Isaiah went to the movies with Jackson…Jd’s car won’t start…and I’m going to test knit a sock so will be knitting a sock soon shock
I hope you all have a great day of knitting :blooby:
I hope you feel better soon and when your ready just ask…we would be more than happy to help walk you through it…socks are not hard at all but they have that difficult look to them…you will be addicted to them soon :teehee:
Morning everyone! Just a quick post this morning for me. Hope everyone is well and staying warm. I started my DD’s slipper socks last night and did about 3 inches of ribbing. Moves right along when your using 2 strands of WW yarn and size 10 needles!
Welcome Debbie! Silver’s tutorial is a great place to start for learning socks. Easy step by step directions. Once you learn the basics of socks, you’ll be able to figure out any pattern. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
Have a great day! I’ll check back in later!
:blooby: Good Morning Socksters!
Lisa~I can’t wait to see them, did you guys get all the snow you were suppose to? Stay warm!
I’m sitting here watching it snow…It is warmer though so that’s good, fingers crossed JD’s car will start today…I really need to go to the grocery store, Friday was suppose to be my 2wk day but his car hasn’t budged since Thursday and mine is in front of his, in the garage…and we can’t get it out :teehee:
I’m hoping to finish up my mittens today :yay:
I hope you all have a great day of knitting :blooby:
I have finally decided which sock I’m going to make. “Beginner Sock Knitting Pattern” by Kim Goddard. The only difference I want to make is the ribbing. I want the ribbing to be longer than it shows on the pattern. In fact, I’d like to do the ribbing down to the foot almost. Do you think that’ll work? Or do I need to just follow the pattern on this one? Any suggestions will be appreciated. TY all!
DebbieJ
You could do the ribbing down the foot with no problem at all just stay in the K2, P2 pattern. I looked the sock up on ravelry and seen that several carried that pattern down with no problems. We can help you if you have any questions!
:woot: YAY for your first sock pattern!
Welcome, I’m not familiar with ‘that’ pattern, but from my sock experience you can do whatever you want on the leg. If you want to do the ribbing all the way down to the start of the heel, then you go for it! It will work out fine. You can even keep the ribbing on the top of the foot if you want to. I’ve done this on baby socks and it works great.
:waving: everyone! Not much to post today, had my first bio classes yesterday & I think this will be much more fun than chemistry-
Hadn’t had a chance to knit or spin in the last few days, fighting a headache now so gonna lay down for a bit.
Tonight’s date night! We’re going to the melting pot, can’t wait. Mom & Dad gave us a $100.00 gift card & of course free babysitting too.
Hey have any of you ever seen the movie, PS I Love You? I watched it last night & cried my eyes out; great movie, but my eyes were very puffy this morning, and still burning. Maybe a nap will help that too.
What is Ravelry? And how would I go about joining if I wanted to? LOL You know what they say about curosity. . . Good think I’m NOT a cat!
go to, www.ravelry.com and click to get onto the waiting list. Basically I use it for their thousands of patterns, and yarn reviews. It’s worth it because if you wanna see how others have knit or crochet one pattern & what yarn they used all of that’s on there with photos. I find that I spend lots of time on there when I’m contemplating a pattern. HOpe that helps.
:teehee: I should have linked it, I’m sorry! Ravelry is a great place to look up any type of pattern, yarn, designer, tips, etc. It’s also a great organizer for your projects. I love to look up a sock patterns then see how others have changed it, if they had trouble with the pattern, what yarns they used. Here is the link, I think it takes a couple of days to get your invite.
Julie~ I hope you get to feeling better soon! Have fun tonight on the date night, it sounds like fun. I haven’t seen that movie, I don’t think
Hi all,
Avast is done:woot:(ok, I still need a zipper). Finished it this morning. Gina, thanks for the advice on the zipper. My mom has a special foot for the machine to sew knitted items and it has worked every time I’ve used it. My handsewing doesn’t look so great, so I think I’d better use the machine.
My ankle is a lot better, I can walk without a splint, it only hurts when I make unexpected movements, but around the house I really don’t need the splint anymore.
Debbie, welcome to the sock-KAL. I’d go for silver’s sock class as well.
Julie, I didn’t see the movie, but I read the book and cried my eyes out as well. I really loved the book and I want to see the movie as well.
Lieke I can’t wait to see Avast!
Have any of you read, “The Shack”?
Good Afternoon Everyone.
Julie: Hope the headaches gets better soon. I woke up with one this morning. Change in air pressure I think. Enjoy your Evening.
Debbie: Hi and welcome. This is the basic sock pattern I used for my first pair, and many more times since. It is a great simple pattern and the ribbing goes all the way. I actually posted on your other thread.

Lieke: Glad your ankle is feeling better.
It is much warmer here today thank goodness but we have had a lot more snow. I took these pics this morning. The first 2 are from my window. Too bad the cardinal wasn’t closer, they look so pretty in the snow. Made that one a little bigger for you to see.
Well, I had a post all ready to go and accidentally hit one of the links to Ravelry so lost everything! It’s NOT my day! Do you ever have a day when you just cry about everything and nothing? That’s me yesterday and today. I’m a mess! It’s probably b/c I hate my job right now, my kids are leaving again, DH just showed me his travel schedule for the next few months (he’ll be gone a LOT!) and life is just yuck right now. I need some friends close by! Y’all are just too far away!
Lieke, congrats on finishing Avast! Can’t wait to see it!
Sue, BEAUTIFUL pictures!
Debbie, welcome to the KAL! Hope you’re feeling better! I love ribbing on socks and everyone else has given you great advice. Where are you in East Texas? You’ll find MANY people here on KH have Ravelry pages and have links to them in our signatures. Come visit and make us your friends!
Ann, hope you’re awake from those late nights! I’m not good with schedules like that!
Dustina, you’d enjoy Hey Teach. Just decide on your size and stick to it! I’m such an idiot! Now I think it’s going to be too big! :wall: Hope you can get to the store soon!
Lisa, doubled worsted has got to knit up FAST!!
Julie, glad the bio class is better than chem! I have a headache too…too much crying! How was date night?
Gina Have you talked to your pcp about maybe getting an anti depressant for these times, like when your kids go back to school & Dh is gonna be gone alot? Just a thought that it might help you feel a bit better & more like yourself.
Date night was fabulous! We sat in the restraunt for almost 3 hours enjoying our cheese fondue, then salad, then main dish which was lobster, shrimp, chicken, pork & salmon-yummy & then dessert was chocolate fondue with some peanut butter mixed in and they lit some liquor on fire and poured that into it-wow! O and we had a chocolate fontini drink, Bailey’s with chocolate liquor that was blended & then put in a big martini glass that had chocolate syrup drisseled around the sides; cloud9

Sue, what a great pictures:inlove:
Gina, take care of yourself. It’s not a bad thing to have a down day sometimes. Take care and an extra hug from the Netherlands to make you feel a bit better:grphug:
I finished something again! I’ve had some anklets on my needles for ages, but ran out of yarn. I didn’t feel like frogging the heel and reknitting it with an other color, so I didn’t knit on it for months. Saturday I took up my courage to frog the heel and reknit it and now they are done. Why did I wait this long? I’ll show pics really soon.
