Any Sock KAL 2

Steve I’ve always wound 2 balls, I’m afraid of them getting terribly twisted & tangled from 1 skein.

Patons is supposed to supply some soon I think its called kroy & lion brand just (stupidly) discontinued their ‘magic stripes’ sock yarn.
Youd think there would be a better selection

:woot::woot:WhooHoo!! Julie, Way to go!!!:woot::woot:
I’ll PM you the addy in a few minutes. Can’t wait to see pics!

Steve, I’ve done two socks at once both ways (two balls and one). If you’re not sure you have enough yarn, winding a center pull ball and then using the center and the outside is a good way to go. I put it in a ziploc with two holes in it and thread the inside pull through one hole and the outside through the other. Be sure the ball is facing the right way before you do this and then zip it in. Occasionally, it may get twisted, but you can open the bag, pull it out a ways and untwist it.
If you use two balls, it helps to have a very accurate scale to weigh the balls as you wind them to make sure you divide it equally.

Dotty, if YOU don’t like the wrap, then change it! We’re just seeing a picture of it, but it’s YOURS, so do what YOU like. We know you have good taste!

With the help of a high-back chair and Jayne, walk round n round the chair to wind into 2 balls (estimate). Not the centre-pull out yarn ball. The balls will roll about hence place each of them in 2 holders(whatever i can get my hand on)

Hi! I’m back! Christine (The.Knitter) yup, that’s me… spent two and a half glorious days in the wedding city of Canada. Yes, we went to Niagara Falls, Canada! We spent two days in a beautiful suite with a heart shaped jacuzzi tub and a lovely view of the chapel where we got married a year ago yesterday. We did touristy things. We went up the Skylon Tower and took pictures of the Falls. We went to the Casino (for $10 worth of betting but once that was gone, so were we!). We went to Rossi Glass and watched them blow glass to make a pretty little bud vase that is now sitting in my livingroom with a single red rose in it, delivered to the hotel by the minister that married us. That was a nice treat!

Boots is home safe and sound and glad to be home. DH and I am home safe and sound and tired out but glad to be home.

G’nite all!

Dottie-your wrap is beautiful. I love the colors!

Sounds good… send her over!! 8)

Hiya sock knitten chicas n dudes!! I thought I would drop in on my way to work…(yeah, I know, it’s like 1 a.m. in the morning even:zombie: ).
WB knitter, glad you had fun on yer anniversary there!!:clink:
Dottie, I like the colors:thumbsup: !! Is not all pastelly.

Steve, when the sock thing is starting to die off is when you’ll start seeing stuff in the chain stores:whistle: . Weird, yeah it is!!
Julie, it’s the sockamania sox for this month is what I was asking about hun, It just seemed weird to me that they wanted a decrease on each end of each heel needle. Unless that’s a typo. O well I figure they put it there to shorten the gusset anywho!
Well, sorry to anyone I missed. I’ll be back later to get chas.
Gotta Go!!! Laters ya’ll!!!

Good Morning to everyone. Trying to catch up again.

Julie: Happy Birthday. Have a great day and no laundry. Great job on Gina’s stole.

Steve: I like your birthday list. Great idea. I too have ended up with one sock a little bigger than it’s mate. I hope to attempt 2 socks at once soon. I recently ordered a book.

Karina: The yarn I am using is Patons Kroy. Very nice to knit with.

Cacuun: Hope the knitting is going better and not so much frogging.

Dotty: Glad you got some good news about Mike’s eyes. I also had eye test and chose new glasses yesterday. I like the fall colours on the wrap.

Silegose: I would be buying the cake too. Kayaking, you are brave.

Knitgal: Glad you are getting more exams out of the way and that you are feeling better… Last night I spent time frogging more than knitting.

Lisa: Hi, have you finished the training?

Christine: Nice to see you back and glad you had such a wonderful time in Niagara.

I spent a lot of time frogging last night. I made a stupid mistake by paying more attention to the tv so no further progress on the socks to report.

:balloons: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JULIE!!!:present: Hope your special day is just that!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, CHRISTINE AND DH! GLAD THE THREE OF YOU HAD A GOOD TIME!

Sue, sorry you had to frog! But know you’ ll be back to same spot in no time!

Steve, good question - I always assumed that you had to buy two skeins so thanks for the info, everyone!

It’s supposed to get up to 65 here today, yay!!! That’s almost on the high end of how warm I like it, but we all want to see the sun more… Happy k:X: to all and 'Nite, Jackie! Karina, how much different is your time? I’m on Eastern Standard Time. Our landlord’s wife comes from England and she and the kids go back over for the summer every year. (yeah, they’re pretty well to do!)

Morning All and HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE!!:present:
You were a speed knitter on Gina’s shawl. Can’t wait to see pics of it. What special things do the DH and kids have planned for you today?

Sue~Your sock yarn is pretty. Still doing training, but it’s going slow. I have to remember that there’s a lot of information and to have patience!

Christine~Glad Niagara Falls was fun. I’m not a big gambler either. I set a $$ limit and then that’s it. I bet Boots is glad to be back home!

Steve~Hopefully they’ll bounce back to shape with washing. I have a few pair like that that stretch out with wearing.

Devon~I get the visual aura before my migraines so I can get some Excedrine in me at the beginning. That’s awful that you don’t have any warning that it’s starting. Yay for the kayaking!. I’ve always wanted to try it. Someday I will…

Tami~You were up early!! I’m not doing the Sockamania pattern either, so I haven’t even looked at it. Sorry I’m no help. Hope you have a good day at work.

Dotty~I like the colors of the wrap too. Glad you and Mike are doing well!

Ann~Glad you did well on your exams and presentations! It’s so stressful! How’s the new place coming along?

silegose~How was DS’s birthday? What did you end up with from the sockamania win? yarn or pattern?

Gina~I’m glad you found a knitting technique that is helping you knit more and easier on your fingers. I can’t wait to see a pic of you in your shawl!

Dustina~How’s Roo and everyone at your house? Hopefulyy she’s feeling beter so you can be outside with this great weather!

Hi to everyone else!! Better get back to work and training. I knitted on the hemlock yesterday on the drive into work, but it’s with a cotton/angora yarn and little bits of angora were flying all over the car. It was killing DH’s head, so no more knitting on that during our ride into work. Oh well, I’ll just have to cast on a pair of socks for my car knitting!
Happy :knitting: !!

:sun: Good Morning Socksters!!

Silegose~I hope you son has a great b-day!! I had to buy Isaiah’s cake this year…I made it and for some reason when I went to stack the 2 cakes together it just all crumbled apart…I was so upset the first time that has ever happened to me…so he got to go and pick out his cake :teehee:

Chris~Thanks for the tip on the heat with the dryer

Knitgal~I’m glad you are feeling better and YAY for exams being over and good news!! :yay: …I hope the move goes smoothly for you guys

dotty~In my excitement of your wrap I forgot to say :woot: YAY on Mike’s eyes being ok!! That is wonderful news

Gina~Roo is more snuggly than Isaiah…he is going through the don’t embarass me stage mom…:teehee:

Devon~:woohoo: for Kayaks…growing up in WV and near the New River and Gauley I’m used to seeing the white water ones…you guys have fun!

Steve~This is one reason why I haven’t really gotten into 2 socks at once…I dont’ really have a way to split a skein evenly for sure…so I just knit them one at a time…I do have some skeins where it takes 2 but haven’t used them yet…that is how I would do the 2 socks at one time…Patons Kroy can be found in Joanns and Ben Franklins…but I don’t know why no other stores carry it or make more…:teehee:

Christine~:woot: YAY for a great trip…I bet Boots missed you guys…welcome back

Tami~:sleepy: I’m sleepy for you!!

Sue~ahh sorry about the mistake and no progress…but I know you will be rolling again soon :yay:

Lisa~ We are all doing fine…Roo was great after I finally figured out what it was and got some Apple Juice in her…I tried to get prune juice in her but she wasn’t having any of that :teehee: …I Hope your dd is feeling better…the hemlock is a nice knit and I’ve been thinking of making some for Christmas but we will see how that goes :oo:

Julie~:balloons: Happy Birthday!! I hope you have a great day and enjoy your presents! :present: and :woohoo: on the shawl!

Thanks for the well wishes for Roo…she was fine and dandy yesterday running around like crazy again…We got to go outside yesterday afternoon in a sunny patch it wasn’t to bad but suppose to be warmer today… I worked on her top…

I need to get busy on the top today and finish it up soon or go ahead and start a sock for April…

I hope you guys have a great day of knitting! :sun:

Thanks for the bday wishes everyone :muah:
As far as today’s plans…at 10:30 I have to take Jacob to a possible pre-k and let them ‘observe’ him to see if he’d be one of the peer students they’d like to have in the school. It all depends on how much $ they get from the gov and then it’s done on a lottery but it’d be a 4 day a week pre-k school for him & break for me and the girls. The school specializes in speech therapy & special ed kids but they need peer students so that’s what he’d be going for. Other than that I guess that’s it. Dh fertilized the lawn last night so the kids can’t play outback today so we might (MIGHT) got to the park today, I don’t know. I have to wait for tonight to open the 4 skeins of sock yarn they wraped for me last night.

I will post shawl pics here in a little while…kids need to eat breakfast and I need to get showerd up and dressed & dress the kids in the next 2.5 hours so I may post when we get back.
Hope y’all got your taxes done

Night Jackie:sleepy:

Hapyy Birthday Julie. I hope your day is special.

Well broden had a good time on his birthday. He turned 3. He was so funny at first because he wanted no ONE to say happy bday.

Working on different projects helps to change things up. When you get tired of one you work on something different. I did semi finish the tempting but will need to redo the entire thing. I dont like the way it fit. There are holes where you attached the sleves and few ooops on the stitch pattern I noticed last night. I will say I learned a lot on this project. I will post pics later. Need to let the battery charge for the cam.

Lisa… I picked sock yarn Fantasia. I have not heard back from them yet as to wether they received my request. I might need to send another email later today to see if they recieved the order. Thanks for asking.

Sue… :roflhard: I have not ever went Kayaking. Even though my BIL bought us one for xmas last year. This year I got a backpack. I wonder if he is sending us a message? :roflhard: Just not sure what to do with it.

I need to run it is time for the appointments soon. Have a great day everyone.

I’ve done two baby socks at the same time ML just pulling from both ends of the same skein- I don’t think I would do that with adult socks. It does tend to get tangled much more easily, and it’s hard to untangle.

I’ve been wondering that same thing about the craft stores not selling sock yarn! They sell it online (well, Joann does at least) but not in their stores!

Julie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you have a wonderful day, and enjoy your ‘surprise’ sock yarn!

I hope everyone else has a wonderful day, too! Gotta run, I have a bunch of big projects to get to. :stuck_out_tongue:

Julie~Wasn’t sure if you would see this threadin OT or not

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE! :present:

tada!

viola!
Gina look at how it grew!!! this shows repeats 1-11 of 14.
Carey Dh too it to work this am and it will be Fed Exed to you today and you’ll have it by Friday (I think). He works for Fed Ex Express and so that’s why we sent it that way-same cost as the PO (I think) but we get a tracking # on it.

I almost always use Fed Ex these days because the PO has become SO unreliable, and they don’t give a **** if they lose your packages. Sorry, rant over

The shawl is GORGEOUS, I can’t wait to start on it! I’ll post when it gets here.

knitgal - I agree with Steve and my DW says that I have very good selective hearing. I tell SHMBO it is just my artillery ears, Why doesn’t she believe me
