and buy a fishing line counter. This is the expensive model $12.99. There is a cheaper version, $10.99, the cheaper model is electric and the expensive is mechanical. I have the expensive model, the batteries aren’t dead when you need it.
I would, haven’t done two at once yet, wind from the skein through the line counter to a yarn winder. This gives the total yardage. Take the new ball and repeat the process for half the yarn. I find the top to a 50 CD spindle to be nice to hold balls of yarn when I rewind from them especially if winding from the outside.
At about $15 US for the line counter and shipping I think it was a good investment.
Cacunn, I love your idea. Can’t stand fishing always feel sorry for the fish. My husband loves to go though, bet he will be surprised when I start asking him for fishing gear.
siameezerlady when you post a message it comes up what time you posted it my time minus one hour, so I imagine it the same your end. At the moment it is 6.30pm. I used to live near Boston Mass, more than 20 years ago and then there was I think a 6 hour difference, but nowadays in the end of March we turn the clock forward and in October the clock goes back. I am not sure how that affect the time difference unless you do the same at the same time.
Was listening to the radio and knitting away on my Hemlock while picking up the kids from school. And apparently a lot of psychologist have done a lot a research and found that today we have to many choices available to us and it makes it hard for people to focus on one thing at a time. Maybe that is why I have about 10 projects on the go, to many choices.
Karina it is called fishing not catching. I go as much as an excuse to get out in the woods and a day by myself.
Does your husband raid your yarn stash for fishing lures. Some yarns make great fles for fly fishers. It has to be very fine yarn because flies have very very small mouths. :teehee:
Cancunn, Thank you for the great tip. I will have to check our sporting goods store here. We had a cabela’s open up out here last year. Now I have a reason to go and check it out.
Gina, and all that have put their time in on the shawl… IT LOOKS GREAT!
Here is the pics of Broden and my tempting before the trip to the lilly pad.
Hello everyone!
Hope you’re all doing well. Tomorrow is my last day of school- ever! I can’t believe it. I don’t know if I’m ready to start “real life” now…maybe I’ll put it off a little longer.
Christine- I’m so glad you’re back and that you had a good time with the DH. I missed you and your motherly advice though- don’t stay away too long!
Julie- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!:cheering: I didn’t realise that we’re only 3 years apart, well 2.5 I guess since I’ll be 23 this year. Also that shawl looks amazing- great work.
Sue- I’m sorry you had to frog so much, but you will be back on track in no time, especially since you knit like a maniac.
Lisa- We’re officially moving in on the 28th, but so far everything is good. The carpet is in and the painting is done, the only thing that’s incomplete is the bathroom. All I have to do is start packing…
Oh- and I love knitting in the car too- you should just tell DH to take an allergy pill!
Dustina- Hope you’re enjoying the sun and I’m glad Roo is better and that all she needed was a little juice- we all get that sometimes.
Silegose- Broden is ADORABLE! And he looks so happy with his store bought cake too.
Karina- I agree with that, which is why I like knitting. I think that in a world of technology it’s nice to do something sort of tactile and real, but it doesn’t stop me from having a ton of projects on the go.
I have been working hard on Ms. Marigold. All I am doing now is rows of stockinette for about 4 more inches and then ribbing for 2. Then I have to pick up the stitches around the neck and do ribbing and then the sleeves. I’m NOT doing the ruffly sleeve, but rather the ribbed one (I think). The colours isn’t quite as blue as it looks in the picture, more grapey.
Silegose when you go to Cabelas be sure to take Broden. The Cabelas near here has “mountains” covered in various game animals and a fish tank that cover a huge area. Just about every fresh water game fish you can imagine. You will have to drag Broden out even if you spend a couple of hours walking around.
knitgal that is some bright blue where do you plug it in. Oh the real color is more grape ok I can turn the contrast on my monitor back up.
:balloons:HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JULIE!!!:balloons:
Thanks for posting pics of the shawl! It looks SO LOVELY! I can’t wait to see it in person!
Sile, Broden is adorable. Happy birthday to him, too!:balloons: Your tempting2 looks GREAT!
Well, my student (same one who came unprepared last time) came today without some of his stuff to write his paper. I chewed him out and told him next time he came without his supplies, he would pay me and leave. He has a big paper due that he wants my help on, so I’m hoping that will work!
Gotta go get some dinner on! It’s leftovers night. Time to clean out the fridge!:roflhard:
I didn’t know whether to say thanks or be offended!
The real colours is definitely more grape purple than it looks. I didn’t realise how neon it looked when I posted it.
Knitgal it’s ok, sometimes cameras do funny things-Chris, behave. jk
Ok I’m off to cook my fav. dinner-fried chicken, mashed potatos and green beans seasoned with onions, garlic and crumbled bacon. yummy. then we get to have my chocolate cake with (what we call) white fluffy icing-it’s a combo of egg whites, sugar, corn syrup, water & cream of tarter-whipped up and o it’s soooooooooo yummy! When I was about 14 Mom made the cake for us & Dad and my little bro. & sis. were at Grandmas house & we were gonna watch Schindler’s List-anyway Dad had a 4x4 piece and Mom & I finished off the rest of the 9x13 cake! (oink oink)
