(Lisa my bday is on Wed. the 16th)
For those of you who also celebrate April bdays-the Pope celebrates his 81st bday tomorrow! Thought that was neat, & had to share.
Hi everyone. I have been out of the loop for a bit.
Boy trying to catch up on the post is not an easy job. I am not going to be able to adress all. But will say a few things
Happy bday to everyones family and Dustina. Better late then never.
All the cakes look yummy to my tummy. You all are making me want to make a cake for DS’s Bday tomorrow. We will celebrate with family on the weekend. I cheated for that cake Ordered out…:roflhard:
Abbily… that was a great video that you posted on the cat brodi’s cast on. I think I would be able to attempt a toe up with that.
All the socks look Great!!
The dumplings sound very YUMMY… I dont make dumplings like that. might have to try. I just use flour eggs and a little bit of water. nothing special.
Well I am still working on my mock cable socks. I am almost done. Will post pics when finished. I have also been working on the tempting 2 shirt and my windowpane jacket that I had to frog to the beginning.
oh ya… I got my first taste of the kp needles. I orderd the 8’’ harmony. I 'em and the price is right!!
happy knitting all.
I forgot to mention earlier- THANK YOU for the dumpling recipe! I just tried making chicken & dumplings this winter for the first time, and I used bisquick (shhh, don’t tell anyone!). The first time they came out really well, but since then they just don’t fluff like they did the first time- I’ve been trying every which way to get them right again, and I think your recipe answered the question for me!! I think I’m getting the dough too moist. I might just have to try your recipe, now!
Bisquick dumplings also disolve when you reheat leftovers.
Hi friends,
Julie, you must be one fast knitter! WOW! How many total repeats are left to knit?
Chris (and anyone else trying Portuguese Knitting), I found I can put a short stitch holder (safety pin type) through a button hole and that works, too. You don’t want anything that will stretch, cuz your yarn needs to just pass through. The tension is really with your right hand, but you DO want something the yarn can pass through very smoothly.
Carey, DH is going to Austin THIS week. No chance it will be done by Friday. I’m trying to talk him into a trip in May…We’ll see!Crossed Fingers
4 left, my last one and then 3 for Carey
Wow. I smile thinking of all the kind stitches!
Good evening everyone
Siameezerlady: The cat bed looks great and the yarn is very pretty. Great colours.
Knitgal: Sounds like you had a busy weekend but your new home sounds very nice, wonderful to have all new carpets and bathroom. Are you are feeling any better today? Some new meds can have bad side effects for a while and you have been under a lot of stress with the exams. Once you have moved things should settle down for you and hopefully you will get back to normal.
Dotty: The shawl is looking very pretty and I just love the quilt. The colours are beautiful.
Dustina: Those socks are amazing.
Julie: Sounds like you are doing a great job on the shawl for Gina.
Gina: Glad the new knitting style is working so well for you.
I did start some socks today and will post when I have more to show. Just a plain sock as usual but with a bright, happy yarn sent to me by Knitgal.
Did you see my other felted bits that I made with my $1 bargain ball of wool?

Not likely… she has many fine qualities, but she’s not good at arts & crafts things! I’ll give it a try myself at some point.
I actually wore the socks today. First of all, the foot part was very comfy. And they looked good pulled up, if I do say so myself.
The problem is the “pulled up” part… they would slide down. I think the idea of using a larger needle for the cuff would help. That wan’t really an option though, because the 2/2.75mm was the only size I had. I’m going to take a sock vacation while I wait for more needles. (My wife is always complaining she never knows what to buy me–my birthday our anniversary, and Father’s Day all hit within a month–so I gave her a shopping list of needles from Knitpicks.)
It was definitely a learning experience. I’m a bit annoyed that the one ended up bigger than the other… measuring after the fact, I see that the gauge went from 7 to 6.5. I’m sure the next will be more consistent.
I love your birthday list! A man after my own heart!
Sue, great phonecozy
Knitgal, I love how the blanket looks
I think I’m going to frog the bluebellsocks. I’ll never ever have enough yarn and since I handdyed it, I can’t buy any new yarn. Maybe I’ll reknit them toe-up, so I will have enough yarn, but for now, I don’t want to see those socks for a while. (just like the selfstriping socks I was making) I’ve picked up my hibernating selfstriping socks again (remember, the tangled yarn) and hopefully will finish those soon.
Good Morning
My latest socks so far. This is the yarn that I received from Knitgal
Sue, I love that colorway. Sorta reminds me of the caribbean!!!:clink:
Siamezer, hun, I love that stitch pattern, that shows off that yarn quite well!!!
I am still workin on my first bluebell sock. I frogged the first one, well I should actually say I TRIED to frog the first one. I got all frustrated n just started rippen. BIG mistake!!! Especially when you are doing colorwork. O well. I’ll just have to figure out that hair ball later!!! LOL!! I started again with different yarn, that worked better til I got to the heel n foot part, sheesh I just couldn’t get those darned alternating colors to come out right without looking like a big fat mess! So I frogged back to the beginning of the heel shaping and started this time with just one color and gonna purl the pattern on the foot (maybe that will help it to fit better too, not being restricted n all that.
I am using a french heel ([sl1, k1] across, turn, sl1, p across).
I just wanted to ask a quick question here, if I’m not mistaken (and I might just be at that), the pattern is using a double decrease on the gusset shaping. Is that correct or did I miss something? What I mean by double decrease is that you have a decrease on each side like normal but in the center you also have decreases on the foot.
:sun: Good Morning Socksters!
Silegose~I can’t wait to see the finished tempting and windowpane…:yay:
Julie~:woot: Way to go!!
Sue~Love the matching items and your socks are so pretty
Steve~My husband’s b-day, father’s day, and our anniversary all fall in the month of June…I never know what to get him either…if he would only knit then I would :teehee:
Lieke~ I’m sorry you have to frog them! I can’t wait to see the others though…
Tami~ oh boy I bet you do have a mess…ribbing the colorwork out… hrmm I’m not sure since I’m not working the pattern…I wonder why a double decrease? Have you checked the blog to see if an error was posted? I haven’t been following it this month since I knew I would’t be knitting them :teehee:
I didn’t get to knit much yesterday, Roo didn’t feel well and was clingy…which I don’t mind… kinda enjoy it when she wants me to sit and rock her…just wish she didn’t feel bad…but once I figured out what was going on and got some Apple juice in her she was fine by bedtime…I didn’t get much cleaning done either…so maybe today :teehee:
I hope you guys have a great day of knitting :sun:
mornin!
Sue I love the felted goodies.
Carribean socks
Tami I have no idea  Im not doing this mo. either.
I did loads of laundry yesterday-didnt e ven wanna count. but I hope to to only Gina’s shawl today. I made grn. chili chicken enchaladas last night for dinner and they were SO yummy! Gonna have to figure something else for tonight since theres not enough left overs to feed us all-not sure there’s enough for Dh & me.
gotta turn the sprinklers off & clean up after breakfast & then onto the last 32 rows of Ginas shawl.
Gina we made your pancakes (doubled the recipe, since I didn’t know what it would make) and we have some in the freezer now for easy breakfasts! Yummy pancakes, thank Uncle Alvin for us-
Amphibian, Amphibian, Amphibian dang I can’t even frog right, why do I think I can learn to knit.
Was wondering if anyone would like to join me and knit River Rapid Socks by Sockbug. Its a magic loop lace socks pattern. The pattern doesn’t seem to be too terribly hard. The link is to the pattern.
 has anyone heard from Christine (The.Knitter) I hope everything is ok
Julie~you want to come do my laundry? Something is wrong with the washer so I have to do an extra spin…and then the dryer takes 2 hours to dry a load of clothes :wall:
Chris~
KnittinMitchie~Have you started the pattern yet? :happydance:
KnittinMitchie~I like that pattern. I saved it but it will be a little bit before I can start it. I’m working on the Hemlock Ring right now. Welcome to our little KAL family!!
Dustina~I think this is Christine’s 1 year anniversary and they were planning a get away trip this past weeknd.:eyebrow: BTW…how many rows did you do on your Hemlock Ring and how big did it turn out? I’m up to row 73 right now and I’m using worsted weith yarn. Thanks!
KnittinMitchie love the socks Have a pair on the needles right now but have saved the pattern. What yarn will you be using. I love the colour in the Pattern. Keep us posted on your progress.
Sue I love your sock, great colour. What kind of yarn is that?
I will have to go back and look for that Pancake recipe. Very handy that you can freeze them, I could make them while the kids are in school and then have them ready for the morning. how would you go about reheating them? toaster or oven?
