Any Sock KAL 2

Skirts are more comfy BUT not very easy w/ kids. Skorts are better. Long skirts are my fav but I cant walk as fast in those.
:teehee:

Ann you should talk to your OBGYN, I have never (yes never) been on any BC (or had Dh used any condems) so I’m not much help-honestly I don’t know exactly how they work.

GJ First the legal disclaimer, I am not a Doctor and didn’t even have a chance to play one as a young boy. Having said that. GJ has your medical professional ever discussed a TENS unit for your pain. My wife uses one for her Fibromyalsa. This is a little unit with leads like an EKG coming out of a small box with a 9 volt battery. You place the leads on each side of the pain. Turn the power on and sit for 10-15 minutes. I am not sure how it works but my DW says it helps her.

Now in the Tim Taylor school of power tools I don’t understand why, if a 9 volt battery dos a good job, hooking it up to the 220 volt power line from the clothes dryer wouldn’t be better? My DW just won’t let me near her unit. I don’t know why.

Devon, I’m so glad you figured it out! It IS easy to switch between the two styles of knitting. I do it every couple of minutes, just so I don’t over do with any one way. That, and to do the increases!
Love your yarn, btw!

Chris, I have a tens unit. Used to use it constantly for neck and back pain. I don’t think you can get pads for your fingers, and I don’t think I could knit if I could get the pads! (I was actually diagnosed with FMS years ago, but I keep most symptoms under control.)

Dustina, I’ll be coming to you to learn purl side increases and decreases when I get to them!

Ann, I hope you’re feeling better soon! You must be tired with all the moving and stuff, too!

Happy knitting, friends!

I guess that explains the kiddies? Haha, I wish that was an option for us at this moment in our lives. I am so sick of being pumped full of hormones! I cannot wait until I can quit these pills.

I have had to switch pills several times in the last 2 years. Originally my doctor switched my pills because there was a great new “miracle” pill. After that I have been a mess and none of the ones I have been very good. I am actually BACK on the one that I was on before the “miracle” pill. I think that the hormones are SO different from the last one that it is messing me up. They say to give it 3 months, so I have another 2 to go. I am doubting that the stress of exams is helping either.
Thanks for your support everyone!

Karina, here is thelink for the Arctic Throw…I modified it by using sport weight yarn, and a size 9 needle. I also changed the stitch count to 77…the stitch pattern works on a multiple of 8 stitches plus 5. My wrap is about 16 inches wide, unstretched.

Karina- I’ve made the Arctic throw in full size too, if you’d like to see pics let me know.

I have started over too many times! I started Friday morning with yarn I don’t like, determined to finish a sock that day, but ended up (after starting three times) switching to yarn completely unsuitable (but that I loved) and starting that a couple of times. This time I am going to finish and make a mate! In fact, I’m ready to turn my heel. I love that part. I like having to think about it. Then I don’t get tired of it. I also love watching it take shape. They’re going to be big and maybe too bulky for shoes, but it is sport-weight yarn.

Knitgal, I did read your post. I responded to it there. The pattern I’m using (with a hcange to add four rows of purl just before the heel flap) is the one that came with the Knitting Korner Sock 1 DVD that I ordered from Knit Picks.

dotty- thanks for the link to the arctic throw, didn’t realize it was a big blanket. will probably make it closer to your size or half the width of the blanket. Thanks for the recipe, only got to download one page last night, for some reason my computer decided to work at a snails pace and it took about ten minutes to do that. Hopefully this computer have had a good night sleep and will behave a bit better today.

Knitgal- thank you. I would love to see a picture of your Arctic throw. Would also like to see progress picture of your Ms Marigold, just love the colour.

This is a good photo to show the close up of the stitches and the other one shows the colours. I knit it for the DBF’s nanny for Christmas, so it’s not exactly my colour taste, but I like how it turned out.

Knitgal - I’m working hard to avoid ladders and you make them so look so nice. :yay: That is very nice knitting.

GJ - My wife has had some relief with Lyerica (sp) I’m not in favor for the drug of the month as shown on TV. But for the month she has been on it she has had more energy, less pain, and better sleep.

I was thinking about the Port. Knitting Style last and looked over and saw my ID badge for work. I have it on one of the retractors so I can pull it out to run the ID pass the scanner. I was wondering if this would help to maintain tension if you don’t run the yarn around your neck. If positioned high toward the shoulder then a little of the retractor cord would be pulled out and as you moved you hand the retractor would move in and out to maintain a constant tension.

:sun: Good Morning Socksters!!

Cyndi~ You can use telemark even though it is a dk weight…some sock yarns call for that…I’m attaching socks I made out of telemark…it’s very nice…and agree just mirror image the purl rows on the 2nd sock

Knitgal~We couldn’t find the red Ipod…they had silver and then cases you could fit over it to make it pink, green, orange, but then Jd looked at the Sansa clip…it’s just a tad bigger than the shuffle…it was red…and did more had more GB was just a little bit more than the shuffle…I know nothing about this tech stuff so he thought that was the better deal so we went with that…I had fun yesterday browsing rhapsody…they have every Elvis song ever made!! I have to watch what BC I’m on…they finally seem to found a perfect match for me cause I also suffer from PMDD…and get very depressed and just don’t want anyone to even touch me…I’m on YAZ and feel great…I still have a few rough days but nothing like before…I would talk to your dr…keep changing till you find the one that is right for you…I went through I think 4 before we did…maybe 5…and the Artic throw is very pretty :inlove:

dotty~ I hope you can knit today but don’t push it:hug:

Steve~ have your wife make the sock blockers for you:rofl:

Devon~:yay: YAY so glad it worked out for you too…I’m going to have to study the purl st…:teehee:

Julie~I love skorts too…they don’t make them as cute as they used to…Roo is in a skort stage…she won’t wear a dress either unless she puts shorts on under it

Chris~You have one smart wife there…I wouldn’t let you either

Gina~ it should be easy…I’ll say that and then not know and be no help…but Roo’s top is just P2tog and then you m1 but you put the loop that you knit through in the front instead of the back and purl…

Hi everyone!!

Today is sooo cold…it forgot that it’s suppose to be nice and warm…I think by the weekend suppose to be warm again :woohoo:

I’m getting ready to clean the house and then work on Roo’s top…Jackie will try to get a picture for you today if I get to work on it…

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :sun:

Knitgal thanks for posting the photo, very nice. great how you photo the stitch details.

Dustinac. I just love those socks. is that a free pattern? beautifull

Wow, 5 pages to catch up on!

Love all the socks posted! Sue, the phone case is lovely!

Ann, I’ll 2nd (3rd?4th?) the suggestion to go back to your doc on the BC till you find one that works. Don’t settle for feeling that way!

Dotty, the quilt and the arctic throw are beautiful! I love the idea of the comforting words included in the quilting. Your needlework is just beautiful!

Not much knitting for me this weekend, I spent most of my ‘free’ time working. :frowning: I did start on my last (for now) baby sweater.

dustinac - your socks look really great. Does the technique you used leave floats between colors?

Mornin all!
Carey hurry and finish that baby sweater-my plan is to have my portion of the shawl done on Thurs and mail it Fri/or Sat to you. I only have 1.5 repeats left! It’s a quick knit, just so much else to do.

I’ve already started my 2nd load today and plan to get all the laundry done today-didn’t do any last week b/c of getting ready for the kids bday party.

Gonna clean up the kitchen and if Caitlin’s still asleep I’ll knit more on Gina’s shawl.

:waving: everyone & happy :knitting:

Yay, I can’t wait to see the shawl! My baby sweater deadline is the end of May, so if I’m not finished with it (which I probably will be) when I get the shawl, it’s no big deal.

Gina, are you planning your trip to Austin?

Thank you, the pattern is in Interweave Knits Magazine their fall edition of 2007

Thanks, I don’t like to leave long floats it makes the design pucker a bit and I find that it makes it kinda tight…so no matter when my next color change is I will weave on the 3rd st even if I’m changing color on the 4th st…I carry the main color in my left hand and the contrasting in my right…I never drop the yarns even to weave…it goes pretty quick… You also learn not to pull the yarn tight…it’s ok if there is slack on the needles it will take shape once blocked…and really the farther you knit on the sock you can’t tell…if you knit to tight you will never get the sock on your foot :teehee: I learned that the hard way…Hereis a video that I learned by…

Carey~YAY for the last sweater!! I hope you get more knitting time :yay:

Julie~Monday cleaning it never changes…the hardest day I clean well and Friday getting it ready for the weekend :teehee:

“Julie~Monday cleaning it never changes…the hardest day I clean well and Friday getting it ready for the weekend :teehee:”

isn’t that the truth! I did get 12 rows done on Gina’s shawl this morning though-only 32 rows left (or 1 pattern repeat)!!

Afternoon Everyone! I’ve been keeping up to date with everyone by just lurking the past week. All the finished socks and other knitted items look great! Happy belated birthday to all of those who celebrated this past weekend! (Julie~isn’t yours tomorrow?? or coming up soon??)I did get a lot of knitting in last week and yesterday. I finally finished the Simply Cable socks and the My So Called Scarf. I also started the Hemlock Ring afghan. After working on Gina’s shawl I really wanted to knit something lacey, but in a heavier weight yarn. So far I’ve completed 63 rows of it. I’m making it in Debbie Bliss Cotton/Angora from a sweater that I frogged. I had the front, back and half the sleeves done, but I just didn’t like it. So in less than 10 minutes it was all undone and on my ball winder and rewound. I’ll post pics of the socks when I get home tonight.

Devon~I feel for you with the migraines. I woke up with one yesterday and it kind of shot the whole day. All I did yesterday was laundry and knit :knitting:

Have a great day everyone!

Dustinac–love those socks! I like Telemark a lot.
