THAT IS SO COOL!!! :woot: I’ll have to try it! I have neck trouble, too, but I don’t think yarn would be THAT much of a pull on it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING IT!!!
You’re Welcome ~ I want to try a test swatch (oh god, swatching) tomorrow with some worsted weight yarn to see if I can do it. I don’t want to try on these socks because I’m afraid I’ll muck up what little gauge I’ve got:p I’ll let you know how I do… I’m already wondering how you’d do stranded colors without throttling yourself? Hmmmm.
Yummy-looking cake and Happy B-Day to DH - looks like lots of birthdays this weekend!:present:
Maggie Righetti mentions Arabian Style Knitting where the yarn is looped over the left shoulder, but that is all she says. Do you have a Arab market near by? They may know of someone who could teach you. It does look like a way that is fast and easy on your hands/fingers.
It looks like she’s just purling. Wonder how you knit!?! I sure wish there was a verbal explanation to go with it!
I don’t know of an Arab market around here. Hmmm.
:cheering: Hello,
Gina - Happy Birthdday to your DH. The cake looks yummy, any leftover ?
Julie - may i have a fruit cake too :teehee:
Dotty - The harmony set looks cool. Might want to buy a set (isnt it nice to have exchangable cir ndl… )
Dustina - happy :knitting:
Gina, that cake looks really yummy.
Siameezerlady, that’s a great way of knitting.
My mom is turning 50 today (she doesn’t like that). Here in the Netherlands, we make a doll for the 50th birthday of someone: a “sara” for women and a “abraham” for men. I’ve attached a picter from the sara I’ve made for my mom.
Lieke, That is so cute.

Folks, I just sent a note by “adding a comment” to Have Ewe Any Wool’s blog. Crossed Fingers Comments have to be approved by moderator, but hoping she’ll answer. Told her our forum has a few folks REALLY interested in learning more about the lady from Albania’s unusual knitting technique due to arthritis concerns…Crossed Fingers Crossed Fingers

Lots of birthdays this weekend. Happy Birthday to all.
Lieke: Love the doll
Here are my latest completed socks. Finally, very boring so I am glad they are finished at last. They have been around a long time. I reinforced the heels on these
So much yarn, son many sock patterns and now so many style of knitting. I’m so confused and so little time.
Happy Birthday to your beautiful children, Julie!:balloons: They come first, so don’t worry about the shawl! I’m impressed that you have time to knit at all, as busy as you are!:thud:
Sue, your socks look so nice! I’m jealous of your ability to make them so fast!
Those videos are SO interesting! Did you notice she uses crochet-hook tipped needles? There are other videos that come up on youtube when you view the one you just posted that show the same technique using regular needles. I’m sure this would change my gauge, so I think I’m going to try a swatch, too! I’m also going to try to watch a few more of those videos!
Dustina, the GG is coming along fine, but slowly! I have the lacy portion done. I did two extra repeats of it.
Siameezerlady, thanks for contacting her. I’m going through the youtube videos and I’ll let y’all know if I find a good tutorial!
Leike, I love that Dutch tradition. Sara and Abraham were from the Bible and lived to be EXTREMELY old.
I’m back in the house after helping trim some shrubs outside. Spring is so lovely, isn’t it? Those of you in colder climates, I assure you it’s on its way to you! I currently have 36 different kinds of flowers blooming. Many of them will be done when summer hits and it’s 95 degrees outside, so I want to enjoy it now! Then I’ll be jealous of your cooler climes!
Gotta do laundry today. Happy knitting, everyone!
Ahhhhhh, Gina ! Gotta love that Texas springtime ! Enjoy those blooms ! Great looking cake…I’ll take a BIG slice !

Lieke, that is so wonderful…I want my daughter to make me a Sara doll !

Steve, I got to see your socks today…those are GOOD-LOOKING…even seem to have a bit of sheen to them !
:present:DUSTINA AND JACOB !!! Happiest Birthdays to you both ! ! ! :balloons:
Gonna go get some quilting in for an hour or so…may have to ride the bike out to the store today.
I just have to post again to share these videos:
(Don’t get confused, Chris! It’s just another technique for those of us who need to change things up so our hands don’t explode on us!)
This one, she explains a yarn holder. Good for me, since neck problems might prevent me from putting the yarn around my neck. I might see if I can make one!
This one shows the basic knit stitch. She goes slowly enough to actually tell what she’s doing. I’m a bit puzzled by one thing: She always crosses her needles in the FRONT, for both knit and purl. I usually cross in the back for knit, don’t y’all? Do you think it will make a difference?
This one shows the purl stitch
And this one shows ribbing.
Here’s cables:
Here’s casting on, but it’s in Portuguese!
Oh I almost forgot!
:balloons:HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DUSTINA!!!:balloons:
Yes, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dustina. I hope you have a wonderful day! :present:
Thanks everyone…
JD and the kids surprised me with a cake from DQ…and my parents called and sang to me…they had their dog singging along…she is such a crazy but cute dog
Sue~They look great:yay:
Gina~:happydance: Can’t wait to see it…it’s cold and windy here today…I’ll be glad when the warm temps arrive for good…
Chris~I’m trying to pick my April sock…to many choices
dotty~I hope you get to quilt this afternoon…:happydance:
Christine~Give Boots a scratch on the belly from me…:teehee:
Gina, I just watched the knit and purl versions…it’s interesting how she does everything in front of the needle instead of behind (where, yes I cross my needles, too), but it seems to be the same basic movements once you think about it. Should work, but it seems that there’s a lot more ‘responsibility’ put on your THUMB. How’s that going to work for you?
GJ I fully understand I have various issues that I am afraid will only get worst. It is just hard to figure out which is the best way when I haven’t mastered one.
The yarn over the neck method looks like it might be good. I can’t wait to finish these socks so I can give it a good try.
