Any Sock KAL 2

I got all my yarn trough a swap here on KH. Now I’ve got quite a few balls and want to knit them up before I order new. My next purchase will probably be elann.com esprit. Same yarn, only less expensive.

Dotty, I really love the dishcloth you’ve made.

TheKnitter, please keep showing those cute boots-pics. I totally love to hear about him.

SteveDallas, your first socks turned out great!

As for the X-ray result, well I’m nothing wiser. The couldn’t find any damage (fortunately), so the GP assumed it was hypermobility. (I always thought it wasn’t until you prove it is) I’ve got an appointment for next thursday, but I’ll probably end up with guided muscle training and I’ll probably have to learn to live with the pain.

The bluebellsocks might be frogged soon, I’m really worried I won’t have enough yarn. Maybe I’ll do them toe-up, so I’m sure I won’t run out of yarn on the second sock.

 Lieke! Hope you don’t end up having to "live with " any pain. Keep looking for answers, okay?
Dotty, sure glad you weren’t offended! We tend to laugh at things we can relate to, and I’ve done something similar in a CAR! Luckily, I wasn’t going very fast (rolling backwards), but I was on a hill and was so intent what ever it was I was looking at, that I didn’t notice until I heard the car behind me blow their horn! How embarassing!:aww: Thank God I didn’t roll into them! And I love that dishcloth! :yay: Maybe you could use it as a hotpad or a doily?
Christine, Boots is so adorable~ And his parka matches his stroller, how cute is that?
Jackie, I think you got me mixed up with Silegose? SHE won the sock yarn prize, yay!
Cacunn, Yeah, it gets so bad it hurts to think! But, like I said, I should count my blessings after hearing how many of us on this thread were sick or had sick family this winter. I just like to complain when Life gets in the way of knitting and other fun things:wink:
Silegose, So sorry to hear about your friend’s DGD- that is way too young. for her.
Julie, Sounds like you are doing better? How wonderful to have bagpipes at a funeral. They sound so beautiful. What does ttfn mean? And how’s the little ones - still getting better?
Steve, very manly looking socks you’ve got there! Great job:yay:
Gina:hug: for those fingers.
Cyndi, Can’t wait to see your socks! Knitting socks is so much fun, especially the wearing them part:happydance:

Well, I got a good start on a simple patterned pair of sock in Opal’s Feeling colorway, and am amazed how much better the yarn looks knit up. I almost didn’t use this yarn because it looked so garish to me on the skein, but it’s my first self-striping yarn (didn’t know it was that, either - it’s all in German), and its coming out well, I think, so I’m off to knit more on this grey, chilly day. It was 54 yesterday and 31 today, go figure:shrug: Happy Knitting, everyone!

:sun: Good Morning Socksters!

Jackie~I am 1/2 way through the first chart repeat on the top under the yokes :teehee: …not much farther than what I took a photo of the other day…I’m hoping this weekend I can work on it more :happydance:

Christine~:inlove: he is too cute!! I don’t get tired of hearing about him either!

Devon~Can’t wait to see the socks :happydance:

dotty~ I’m not sure…was it a lace weight shawl? I did the 3way wrap recently and talked about finding the right buttons for it after Easter…it was just a St st wrap…there is the cozy too that I always suggest for first time lace but both of those call for a heavier yarn…

Gina~

Cyndi~I’ll check out the blog :teehee:

Steve~They look great!! Congrats :woot: …Have you seen thesesock blockers…it’s what I use and just cut them out of place mats?

Lieke~I hope you don’t have to frog them…they are so pretty… I hope they can help you manage the pain…the elann is what I’m using on Roo’s top…:happydance:

Well we have a busy day here today with lots of errands…Isaiah is on late arrival today…

I hope you all have a great day of knitting :sun:

Mornin all! Caitlin’s my early bird this morning-I wasn’t ready to get up but she was full of smiles and talking to me so I guess I didn’t have a choice. Today is house cleanin day & cake baking day (how are those donuts commin’ Tami?). I hope to knit some on Gina’s shawl-I keep saying that but for some reason it has sat in its ziplock baggie in the box next to my chair; sigh. Guess I’ll eat some breakfast and start chores-not awake enough to knit yet.

Night night Jackie

Good Rainy Morning here.

Dotty: It wasn’t me knitting a stole. I posted pics of the Airy Scarf recently but have not made a stole. Love the dishcloth.

Siameezerlady: Sorry about the migraine. I used to suffer from those, so I feel for you.

Christine: That is a fancy stroller and Boots looks so cute in it. He just looks so proud of himself. Boots won’t like the weather this morning.

GJ: Sorry to hear the fingers are worse again.

SteveDallas: The socks look great.

Lieke: Sorry to hear that you didn’t get much positive news, but keep looking. Hope you don’t have to frog the socks.

I am working on trying to finish some socks that I have had on the needles for ages. Same simple pattern but I keep making mistakes. I think I am not so keen on the yarn. Anyway I am on the final stretch now, so hope they will get finished soon.

Once again, I can’t keep up!

I love all the socks posted! SteveDallas, great job!

Devon, I hope your head is better! I get visual migraines sometimes- no pain, but I can’t see. :stuck_out_tongue:

Gina and Lieke, I hope you are both feeling better soon!

Christine, OH MY GOSH he is cute!!

Have you guys seen this? It’s Judy Becker’s provisional cast-on as demonstrated by Cat Bordhi. It looks so easy, great for toe-up socks! I just ran across it on a blog I happened upon this morning.

:waving: & :muah: to everyone!

(I’m training the new receptionist and this is about all I have time for. I have been reading all the posts though, and thinking of you all!)

Abbily, thanks for that link…I’ve watched that before and it’s fascinating, but I don’t understand how it’s a ‘provisional caston’. I thought that a provisional caston meant that you had live stitches that you could pick up later to go in the other direction, like with the crochet provisional caston. It does look like it would make a good toe…I remember trying it before when I saw that video…I need to give it another try.

Steve, I couldn’t see your photo of your socks…did you remove it already?

Nope, still not the right wrap, Dustina.
Sorry, Sue…I read back aways and realized that it wasn’t your wrap.

Dotty, she demonstrates knitting all the way around as though to do a toe- but if you were to just knit back and forth on one of the needles, you’d be left with the live stitches on the other needle that you could then knit the other direction.

This is completely unrelated to knitting, but since it’s more of a group of friends anyway, I’m going to share it here.

When I was a kid, I had a record (yes, a record :)) of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” read by Boris Karloff. I LOVED this record, I listened to it constantly. I’ve been trying to find the record for ages, and out of the blue the other day my mom found it when cleaning out a closet. I was ecstatic until we tried to play it, and it’s so warped it wouldn’t play. So, I started searching the internet… but could only find it on LP. I finally found it as a podcast! FINALLY I can play it for my kids!

That’s fantastic, Carey !
I had an album that my daughter played all the time on her little portable record player. It was all kinds of songs from “big rock candy mountian”, to 'the er-i-e canal". It was narrated by ‘Breezy’…I have looked and looked for a copy online, and have never run across it ! I am SO EXCITED that you found yours ~! congratulations !

Boris’ voice, dark night, candle light and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the kids won’t sleep for a week.

In the excitement over your news, Carey, I forgot to mention why I came online ! I finally got off of my duff and made another order to KnitPicks. I ordered a package of 60 inch cables to go with my Options needle set, and the size 13 tips in Harmony wood. I figure I won’t be so worried about breaking the wooden needles in that bigger size, and they should be REALLY PRETTY, being that big of a surface ! And I wanted the long cable for knitting a wrap lengthwise. They also are sending me a replacement, free of charge, for one of the 24 inch cables that came with my set, because it is really rough right behind the threaded part, and grabs my yarn. I ordered a size 2.25 mm circular in 32 inch, too, I just realized…I wanted to try the 40 inch ones, incase I want to knit 2 at once, again, but realized that I usually only have one skein of yarn, so I went ahead with the length I know best. I’ll probably only use that size for ribbing anyway.
Thought about adding some bare yarn as long as I was ordering anyway, but decided to use up what I have. Can’t wait to get the order…sending a check, which the mailman JUST picked up, so it’ll be awhile. But she’s sending the replacement cable right away ! I told her she could wait and send it with my order to save shipping, but she said that I shouldn’t have to wait…their customer service is just amazing. I asked if I should send the bad cable along with my check, and she said “don’t bother”.

dotty that is really excellent news about your wire, it is always nice when you have good customer service. Maybe you can use the bad cable just to hold project that you are not knitting on at the moments. I have one set of the harmony options, I am not completely sold on wooden needles but have to admit that I do want more of the harmony’s just because they are so beautiful to look at.
Enjoy your goodies when they arrive.

Wow, Dotty, I really have to stop buying yarn and get some decent needles from Knitpicks - they sound fantastic. My old Susan Bates circulars keep splitting the yarn 'cause they are so blunt on the ends I guess.

:roflhard: Boris’ voice, dark night, candle light and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the kids won’t sleep for a week.

Chris C. :roflhard:

I have found NOTHING to compare to those wonderful pointy needles from Knit Picks !

Sue, I think it WAS your scarf that stuck in my head, with the idea that it would look good if I made it wider for a stole. I finally just found the picture you posted of it… would you mind sharing the stitch pattern (multiple of stitches needed, and row by row)? I realize that it is out of a book, so if you don’t want to, it’s okay…I’ll just zoom in on the photo and try to decipher it myself. Gonna go copy it to my computer right now !

Dotty: I will send you a pm,

Hi friends!

Dotty, I agree! I LOVE KP needles! I have trouble knitting with others. Addi Turbos are good, too, but too much $$$!

Carey, so nice to find the recording. I love recorded books and listen to them in the car all the time. I get a lot of “reading” done that way, since I’m a homebound teacher and I’m in my car a lot!

Steve, nice socks! I’m kind of resigning myself to no more hand-knit socks. DH gave up on them and I can’t really do the small gauge. Oh well. At least on most days, I can still knit SOME!

Have fun training, Lisa! Hope it goes smoothly and the new hire is a good one!

Leike, it’s too bad the x-ray didn’t show anything. Unfortunately, they don’t show most disk problems. YOu may need to push for an MRI! I’d hate for you to have to live with pain.

Fingers are a bit better today. Went to the OT this morning and got my splints back and a new one for my left index. That one is very swollen at the moment, so my ring splint doesn’t fit right now.

Cake baking for you, too Julie? It’s DH’s b-day. Tami, I’m posting this, but don’t look! It tastes great, but the bottom layer didn’t come out of the pan in one piece, so it looks TERRIBLE! I don’t usually do layer cakes!

Enough typing. Gotta save the hands for a little knitting! Hi everyone else!

Gina, have you seen this way to knit before? I am going to try it! No tension on the hands other than holding the needles, from what I can tell?

cake looks yummy Gina. Happy Bday Mr. J.!!!
I’m gonna mix up the 1st after Caitlin’s done nursing & then the second…Bailey wants another Barbie cake & Jacob wants a race car shaped cake-o what have I got myself into? I hope it works & I’ll post pictures prolly on Sunday.
I’m making 2 b/c we’re celebrating both bdays with grandparents tomorrow…
Gina I got 3 more rounds done today…still a ways to go, just too much on my plate today & tomorrow.
