Whatcha' Knitting? September, 2025

Here we are at the beginning of the “ber” months, looking forward to finishing up projects and starting new ones. Hard to believe the summer has gone by so quickly but we’re up to the transition months. Let us know how your knitting or crochet work is coming along or what you have planned for the fall. It’s inspiring for all of us!

I am taking a break from knitting till the end of Oct. Then I will order the yarn for my oldest sister’s gloves I am going to make for her.

Hello everyone! I’ve missed you!

I’ve had such a crappy summer (mainly focused on trying to keep my elderly cat alive and well - which she finally is!) and I’ve barely done any knitting. I started and then abandoned an intarsia jumper that I’ll get back to soon. And I’ve almost finished a really basic chunky raglan knit that I just made so I could knit a bit without having to think!

Hoping to cast on this sometime this week to get me back in the swing so I can tackle the intarsia :joy:

Hope you’ve all had lovely summers!

Those stripes look really interesting on the Ava sweater, I’m looking forward to seeing this progress.

Choices were made. None of them good.

(It wouldn’t let me upload pictures in my reply)

Are you uploading a jpg file? Can you try resizing it to see if maybe it was too large a file?

Love the bag!

I’m so glad your cat made it. I’ve been through the same thing years ago with my Rosemary Cooney, a beautiful Maine Coon. We nursed her through what the vets thought was pancreatitis when she was only 6 years old. She lived to be 16.

As soon as I find the yarn I like in the colors I want, without having a $200.00 cardigan, I’ll make Nonno by Isabell Kraemer. I’m going on a yarn crawl around Lake Tahoe next weekend and I hope to find the yarn in one of the shops.

Pancreatitis is what my cat had or has! She then developed diabetes off the back of it and then after 2 weeks of insulin she went into remission randomly. But then she developed bowel disease and she already had kidney disease so it’s all been a bit of a nightmare to get her stable again. She’s pretty much back to normal now (fingers crossed) and it’s so reassuring to know how well your cat bounced back from the same thing! I can actually concentrate on knitting again now after 4 months of stress :joy:

I’m trying this with 2 threads worked together and one of them is a faux mohair that really sticks together so I’m going to have to try not to make too many mistakes as I think frogging will be a nightmare!

Oh it is stressful. I had prep and lunch back to back and got the OK from the principal to leave the campus every day to come home and feed Rosie. She had a special formula and we had to feed her with a syringe. This went on for 4 months.
I hope your kitty makes a full recovery.

I was looking at a faux mohair a while back, it seemed hard to find. I’d be interested in the yarn name. It sounds tricky to ise, and im always frogging so maybe it’s not the best yarn choice for me!

Sounds like you’ve really been through it with your cat. It amazing she’s made it through all that.

I got the pockets in last week on this sweater and finished the back yesterday.
Just about to undo one of the shoulder seams and give it another go. I did a 3 needle bind off with a KP combination for a more flat seam which went well on one side. The other side I tried a PK combo to get a mirrored result, it looks fine but ended up tight, my tension must be different between the two stitch combinations.

And the back

It will have long sleeves and a hood (well, thats the plan!) I made a mini hood for a practise as I’m modifying to a rounded short row hood rather than the pointy rectangle hood. Also made the sweater longer than the pattern and added a second colour.

I can’t with mohair. I’ve found a source for lovely suri alpaca lace-weight yarn that I use instead. https://inspireamind.com/ Based in SoCal, she delivers quickly, and will even dye to order!

Earlier this summer I finished my second son’s sweater. Now working on the same pattern, reversed colors, for his wife.

And made a baby blanket for my granddaughter to be!

Congratulations on your soon to arrive granddaughter! That’s a lovely welcome to the family gift.
The sweater is beautifully done and neatly finished, zipper and all. Thanks for the chance to see it.

Working on a sample for my LYS. Hoping blocking will resolve the edges curling in the Broken Rib section.

Will you be making baby a matching top too??
