I think your color work looks great!
Thank you!
Very nice! Like the color selections too
Thanks. I was going to do Natural with the Cote D’Azure, but I forgot to rinse the blue through before winding, so I went with Pearl because the light grey is more forgiving with any dye run.
It’s lovely to see everyone’s works in progress. Such a talented group! I’m knitting my daughter a second Carbeth Cardigan because the first pilled beyond redemption. It was supposed to be mustard yellow, like the pattern photo, but I told her, Your getting Dijon not French’s. Wool came courtesy of a stash on Ravelry. Knitting double stranded and it’s wonderful to work with
I’m just about to start this https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gloriosa-3 I’m using Malabrigo Sock in Fortaleza & Pearl.
Love the Blacker Swan yarn and your mustard take on it!
Gloriosa, could there be a better name for that shawl!
I know! And since Fortaleza is my favourite colorway and it is glorious, how could I not put them together.
I’m super happy. These were my last 2 Fortaleza and everywhere has been out of stock for ages. I check regularly and Pick Knit ES just got 5 in stock
So I snapped up 4
That’s my yarn buying done for a while!
I love the idea of doing your son’s cartoon designs, how clever and imaginative! And the colours are great, Creations - you are so industrious! You always seem to have something new on the go, I’m amazed at how fast you must knit to be so productive - puts my snail’s pace to shame!
A post was split to a new topic: Stitch unaccounted for?
Hmm, I don’t knit so quickly, not compared to the real fast traditional knitters! It perhaps just seams like I am faster because I posted 2 projects but one of those has been on the go for several months as I had a long period of not being able to knit at all so it was waiting for me to get back to it.
When I can knit it is almost all I do. I’m immobile until after my surgery so it’s either knit or read and my medication has stopped me reading for months too!
But I think all knitters start thinking about the next project whilst still working the current one, especially when part of a group like this, I see all the patterns others are making and add them to the ever growing list of what I want to make!
I just spent 3 days (three days!!!) casting on for the next project. I wanted something easy and a single colour and mindless pattern for the periods when I can’t move enough to get another strand of colour for Mister’s cartoon sweater and need something which involves no movement or thought.
Easy? Pah! I insisted on using my new fav cast on method for rib, with fingering weight yarn on 2.5mm needles. The cast on is sloooow but also the first row is almost impossible as this cast on makes such a tight stitch I can’t get a needle in. Every single stitch is a fight. It took a full day, I got near the end of the round and in my fight to get into the stitch I accidentally knocked it off the needle. There was no saving it. I had to pull everything out and restart.
Second attempt, another full day, i reached the end of the round to discover I made a k3 instead of a k2 early in I the round which threw my 2 x 2 rib off for the entire piece. Rip out start again.
Grrr… but I was determined to do as I planned.
So, Lalla, I am also snail paced. It’s okay being snail paced it gives a person time to dream.
What cast on is this? If you’ve mentioned it before I don’t recall. You’re inspiring!
Jeny’s slip knot cast on.
I don’t make the cast on knots particularly smoothly and some of them i have to try over and over to get it sitting right, it’s quite crazy how much time I have dedicated to a cast on for a single top.
I used this cast on for my previous 2 x 2 rib top and it was so lovely I was hooked on it. My other was a 3.5 mm needle and the needles were more slippery. This is a 2.5 mm and the needle is very grabby which has made the cast on and first row even more difficult.
Past that first row it’s fine, back to knitting normally.
I feel like it’s worth the trouble because if I’m going to spend a month or more making a top why not give this amount of care and time to the cast on edge.
Have you ever used it?
I’ve never used a slip knot cast on. I got so frustrated trying to learn it I went sour grapes and decided it’s not for me.
Well it’s good to hear i3m not the only one frustrated by it!
For a sweater with a bit of ease or a slouchy sweater I don’t think I’d bother with this cast on. The sweater would already have enough ease to get on and off without needing that kind of stretch in the rib.
I am making another negative ease rib base layer though and without any shaping in the body so I really do need the rib to fully stretch out and spring back in to be able to get it on and off. I just love how this cast on looks, feels and acts once it’s done, despite the frustration of it!
Ooh-la-la, love those soft cables!
Hi guys I’m knitting my first ever gloves for my boyfriend. (I’m still figuring out how to use topics and how to reply on whatcha knitting🙈)
I really love the colour of the yarn, it’s not just all black but it has hints of grey in there as well
I’m using drops Nepal, colour dark grey. It’s lovely yarn and feels great around my hand. I’m surprised how fast this is knitting up!
