Whatcha' Knitting? March, 2023

Change of seasons coming up. Perhaps time to start putting away winter sweaters or take out those warm sweaters depending on your hemisphere.
What are you knitting or crocheting now or thinking of working next? We love to see photos or read about your plans.
Maybe not a massive project like this one:

I finished this sweater 2 weeks ago but only have photos of before blocking. I planned to take some photos after as it actually looks much nicer now (and I’ve been wearing it!) But I have another pain and mobility relapse and not able to take more photos so I’m just going to post these.
The colourwork wraps from the back to the front at the sides and looks more effective in 3 dimensions being worn than it does flat, I like the side view of it which can’t be seen in the pics.
I modified the pattern significantly, some planned before casting on and some of it I made up as I went along.
One of the modifications was the exposed seams on the front, the pattern had some kind of criss cross stitch I think but I couldn’t get a good result following the instructions so after a bit of googling chose a zigzag crotchet join which I think looks great, it goes with the relaxed/shabby/scruffy look of the sweater.
Slightly disappointed that the yarn is already piling some on the sleeves after before worn several times.
Anyway here it is

I am working on the Floodlight Tee by Tanis Lavallee in Purl Soho’s Sweetgrass yarn.

I may have to come back to the forum for help with the sleeves and the next edge for I have never done an applied I cord bind off!!

I finaly finish last pair of socks and im done lol no more, sock bug dont work on me. Dish scrubber is much easier for gifts
I’m back working on sweater that makes me crazy. Did 250 rows and ready to frog it all.
Dont like cast on, it rolls, :slightly_frowning_face:
Is it any way to fix and what you suggest for bottom. It supposed to be back piece, no pattern. Front piece is starting to shape in my head but changin daily because of bottom.

Looks great. I love this colour but is it a silvery grey or a mushroomy beige? Sometimes on a monitor I’m not sure until I’m told. It’s so nice either way!

I’m still baffled by any kind of sock - a great achievement.

Oh don’t frog this beautiful sweater! After 250 rows I couldn’t bare it. The knitting is sooo neat and even! Lovely colour too.
There are things you can do to the bottom edge.
First, did you swatch this cast on and pretty edging and did you wash and dry the swatch? If not I would make a swatch, wash it, dry it flat, pin it out flat if needed. Then see how it is afterwards. It may well relax when blocked and sit flatter.

If not, you can do some sweater surgery and remove the bottom few rows and knit downwards to put on a new edge, one you will be happy with. If you choose this I suggest try the surgery on the swatch first so you have a practise before the real thing and also to check you like the new edge (if you have not started the front and liked the new edge on the back you could do a provisional cast on for the front to enable you to work the knitting in both directions to match the back)
It’s a very pretty edge, what is it? Cable cast on, garter, eyelets and another garter row?

Ty so much. I saw Gala sweater at Pinterest and thought this cast on will be nice. Shouldn’t do eyelets after.
Didnt do any swatch, made 1 sweater from this yarn before different color.

Cast on is from YouTube, she got some nice stuff for baby

The socks are lovely but I can understand moving on to something else, at least for awhile. Socks are such a great portable project and you have the technique so nicely.
The sweater is going to be gorgeous, stitches, colors, perfect. The cast on may uncurl with blocking but it’s not a given.

You can fix a sweater from the bottom and knit down to the cuff or cast on (it’s a way to shorten or lengthen a sweater). You could use this method to cast off in your preferred method.

You might also cast on as you’d like then graft the cast on (maybe plus a couple of rows) to the newly free sts at the bottom of your sweater.

If you try there methods, work on a scrap yarn swatch first before cutting into you sweater!

Ty,
Would grafting be thight? I like this cast on. Eyelets need to go but im afraid to touch.

I love this! I really like that you make changes on the fly. Keeps knitting interesting, doesn’t it? I have to try that chart.

Applied I cord is intimidating until you do it. Once you’ve done it I think you’ll love it and it’s pretty simple to do. Applied borders in general are terrific.

eta I looked up your yarn. Lovely!

Well I think your socks look great!

Thank you KnittinGigi. This is third pair of socks. I proved myself socks are not that hard as I was thinking and im done. Lol to much stress. I need nice and relaxing knitting :slightly_smiling_face:

Your socks are beautiful. Sock knitting addiction isn’t universal among knitters and there’s no shame in not loving it. I love the color of the jumper. There are ways to fix this. One would be to cut the yarn and remove the bottom edge then knit in the other direction with more garter stitch rows bearing in mind that gauge difference can cause a garter border to flip so you’d want to compensate with fewer stitches or smaller needles. Depending on the yarn it might block flat and I think I’d try that before going more drastic with other remedies or frogging.

eta I should have read previous replies to see they said the same thing I did only better. :sunglasses:

Tight? No, just be careful about tension. You can always adjust stitch by stitch as you go along, pulling more yarn into the graft or closing up loose stitches. Practicing on the swatch will help you figure out the tension too.

Ty Gma, you said great too. Socks was trial plus I don’t have weight yarn for them. Wool is no-no, just cotton. Made them from Kartapu organic cotton yarn leftover. Sweater is Yonkey Monkey bamboo cotton blend. So soft.
