Lovely cast on edges!
Whatcha' Knitting? March, 2023
Iām so happy to have finished this winter hat for my boy. Heās 10 so it will be very lucky if he actually wears it. Iām really pleased to have done a little brioche. I love to see what others are knitting so hereās my photo so you can all see.
The color is called walnut shell and thatās a good description of it!
Thank you for the encouragement. Iāll let you know how it goes with the āapplied I chordā when I get there
That is beautiful hat and knitted nice. As a mom of boys and grandma of 2 boys too I can tell you boys are boys and dont listen
Welcome to KH. I love your hat! Itās so cheerful. Your brioche looks really good.
Great hat! Thanks for sharing. I love to see what others are making too. Itās inspirational.
My son (12) would wear it all day.
I love the coloured yarn you used for the brim!
Itās the we are knitters neon marshmallow. Thank you kindly
Well he loved the colours but wanted it a bit bigger so Iāve blocked it and worn it myself letās hope itās up to his standard!
Thank you so much what are you knitting?
Makes are lovely.
Iām doing a test knit at the moment. Itās a shawl and uses lace weight mohair for one of the yarns. I am never using mohair again! Iāve said to my knitty friends if I ever suggest doing anything like this again they are to stage an intervention!
It is a pretty pattern though. I think itās one Iāll make again but next time use colours A & B and use Malabrigo Mechita. I think it would look just as nice, if not better.
Apart from that Iāve been blocking. This is my 5th shawl so far this year and I had them in a pile waiting for warm sunny days so I could get them blocked.
Wow, you have been busy and productive! Weād love to see photos once youāre ready. The test knit sounds lovely despite the struggles with mohair.
Iām hoping to take photos this weekend, so will post soon as I do
It would actually be good to show you, because Iād like to know if they are decent pictures. Iāve said before that I donāt wear any of my knits, so Iāll be putting them on Etsy, and could do with some advice on if the photos are good or not.
The mohair is as thin as sewing thread! It came in a lovely neat skein from one of my favourite indie dyers. Even so, this stuff just tangles if you so much as glance at it! So it took 2 hours to wind it into a cake. Never again.
I like doing test knits. They are always fun and the other testers are nice to chat to. I should have another test in a couple of weeks from a designer Iāve tested for before. She does a lot of mosaic shawls so itās right up my alley.
After that Iām going to do an incredible beautiful shawl I bought a couple of weeks ago. The yarn arrived for it, but I know I have this test and one coming up, so Iāll start it soon as Iām done.
Nice hat!
That sounds lovely. Iām using mohair too itās some Colinette yarns Iām frogging leg warmers and making a cowl in easy fishermanās rib.
The malabrigio yarns look fantastic online I am very tempted by the colours!
How are you finding knitting with mohair? TBH Iām not sure Iāll go out of my way to do it again. I tend to use sock/fingering almost all of the time and I just find it joyful to knit withā¦ The mohair not so much!
I love Malabrigo. Also check out Martinsās Lab, his colours are wow and lovely to work with.
@salmonmac Iāve taken photos and put them up. Would you mind having a look please https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SquiggleKnit I canāt actually type any more as my hands are going a bit now.
Iām delighted to see your beautiful work. These are all such lovely designs and color combinations. Very well done!
Your shawls are so amazing! Wow, beautifully made, so perfect!
I am happy with the mohair itās not as fine as what youāre using I suspect as it is not tangling up at all. It is from Colinette yarns and came in a blanket knit kit which confused me so much that Iām doing this easy cowl in plain rib!!
Thanks. The yarn youāre using is a beautiful colour.
