Whatcha' Knitting? June, 2026

Almost halfway through the year and heading into the summer season for those of us in the northern hemisphere. In the southern it’s perhaps time to break out the sweaters and mittens.
What are your knitting or crochet plans? Your current projects and future ones are fun to see and inspirational. Let us know what’s on the needles or hooks please.

Been working on it since March, and it still needs blocking, but my Geometric Journey shawl is done! Scheepjes Whirl in Rainbow Popsicle, and Whirlette in Bilberry.

That is a journey and a half, and beautifully accomplished too. It looks grand on you. Enjoy wearing it!

The beanie I’m knitting for my friend is going well, I’m done with the ribbing and I started the colorwork and it’s really fun to do! And in the meantime, I finally managed to make this amigurumi! I had bought this kit at about the same time as my first knitting needles, but crochet has been more challenging for me so far, so this took me a while :joy:

For those who are wondering, this is Flo the flamingo from Anchor. The materials provided were generous and the crochet that came with it feels like good quality, I found it comfortable to use

Still working on shawl. I realized after I asked questions and got a few responses. That it was too short but I saw the V shape thanks to you all who helped me. I undo a little bit, but now on the right path.

This is so cute. I love the color

I love the colors. How long did it take to knit it?

It’s crochet, and I started it in early March, so just about 3 months. But I had a couple of other projects going at the same time.

I’m amazed by anyone who can make crochet look good. A great success!

I love this pink flamingo, so cute! No idea how anyone manages to make such tricky things, it’s beyond me.

I didn’t do much knitting for a couple of weeks as it was little mister’s break from school and also a mini heatwave and I didn’t want to knit.
I’ve just finished one sleeve for my sweater and half seamed it. I’ve added some bits of hand sewing to the sweater to break up the pattern symmetry a bit and I like it more now. I’ll do some more sewing on the back and some on the front and perhaps on the sleeve. I also reworked the neck and quite like the raw roll over on the neck so prob leave it like that.
Here’s the back

I am working on Bindweed cardigan, but unfortunately ran out of one of my yarns. so I’m waiting for that to arrive. In the meantime, I frogged sweater that was too a line and waiting for the yarn to dry to re-knit the bodice. By the way, I took the forum’s advice and decided to take out the part of the sweater I didn’t like, and I steamed the yarn

which actually came out quite well.

Both pieces are stunning. Well worth the extra effort and the wait for yarn.
The bindweed cardigan is making me jealous! Only that i really don’t like raglan construction i would otherwise want to make this after seing yours.
What yarn are you using for this?

Thank you! I’m using Drops Kid silk and Nord. Both very comparable to recommended yarn but more economical. Unfortunately I miscalculated the amt of silk I needed. The sleeves are a fun pattern to work. I really have to pay attention :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Thanks.
I like Drops, they are budget friendly. I have some kid silk but found it scratchy when i made a swatch with it which put me off but I find myself admiring the fabric others make with these yarn combinations. Maybe i should try it again.

Love both sweaters which are going to be a joy to wear. Can you give us the name for the colorwork pattern please?

Yes. The color works is by drops design and it’s Inner Circle. I used the drops Marino extra fine yarn. Loved the pattern, but it was a bit too a line for me. That’s why I am redoing the bodice after your words of encouragement.

It should be straight forward enough to work straight instead of the a-line. I don’t know if you’re aware but there is also a men’s version of this sweater which i prefer the shape of, it’s also closer to the length I usually make (I always go longer than patterns). Drops often have a man’s version of their sweters, which may or my not be preferabe in shape or size.

Making the second doll cradle purse for great graddaughters. I find this pattern, Frankie’s Knitted Stuff, to be the one that is written accurately and works….the first Frankies purse I made was yellow and this next one is pink. Ravelry: Cradle Bag pattern by Frankie Brown
