Whatcha' Knitting? December, 2025

Oh my goodness! Thanks for the link. I printed all of them. The hangers are paper clips that are reconfigured.

Welcome back Hepsibah. Is this sweater you are making?, so nice and free

You’re welcome. You might have noticed, they also have a set of about 6 patterns for sale as one off payment of about £2 or less.

The paper clip idea is good. I really should make some Xmas item of some sort but no plans. I don’t have the right kind of yarn for these tiny sweaters.

I admire everyone who can knit that small outfits, how you do it? With toothpicks? I’m joking but knitting with DPN is challenging for even socks, can’t imagine holding that little thing and knit. Probably will loose some needles in process

It is! I’m making the striped version and I’m most of the way through the yoke. I’m looking forward to dividing for the body as I’m up to about 250 stitches and the rounds are taking longer and longer to complete. It will be my first top down project.

This looks lovely in the colours you’ve chosen. I really enjoy knitting stripes but have never really been a stripe wearer… I am becoming more of a stripe wearer since enjoying knitting them!

Thank you!!!

Go for it! It’s really satisfying using leftover project yarn. Happy Holidays!

Sorry your relative is ill, that sounds like a wonderful gift though!

The white one on the bottom of my original picture

was knit with a size 5 and dk yarn. This little vest was knit with size 1 and fingering yarn. It all spends on what the pattern calls for or what yarn weight you choose to use.

That is adorable

Your relative will be very happy to get such a lovely gift.

I knit, I frog, I knit, I frog..rippit rippit

Just about to frog the cable sample I knitted today. I’m going to see what happens on a slightly larger needle as this yarn was so soft on a 4.5mm needle (same yarn different colour for a previous sweater) and although this feels quite nice on a 4mm needle I’m curious how the traveling stitches will look on the 4.5mm and if the fabric will feel even nicer. Then I might go ahead and work a cable sweater over the Xmas period as I discovered last year it was a really convenient project for over the hols.

I think it’s adorable too. It’s easy to knit; try it.

I received some beautiful yarn and a pattern from our knitting group’s gift exchange and I started the project right away. The pattern is Flicker Scarf. I’m a brioche novice, even though I took a class several years ago

Ooh, looks lovely. What an interesting sort of abstracted stripe you get with that yarn. It’s going to be exciting to see how the colours take shape as you work this up.

You must be in the poshest knitting group with these lovely gift exchanges!

From what I’ve knitted so far, I think it will turn out a zigzag pattern. It’s a project that’s hard to put down just because I want to see what comes next. The directions say to join yarn at the place where there is a color change opposite of the end of the last skein.
We have been referred to as yarn snobs.
