Whatcha' Knitting? December, 2025

A very merry last month of the year! Have you been knitting or crocheting any holiday gifts? Finishing them up or just getting started? Let us know what’s on the needles or hooks, please. And what plans and dreams for yarn are in mind for the future too. It’s always inspiring to see what you’re up to.

I’m THIS close to finishing a couple of projects, but my LYS is doing a granny square tree and they need 20 more, so…

I’m am working on the 2nd sleeve of the Drop Design Queen Bee Cardigan. I had no worries about the amount of yarn. Had a wee bit of difficulty handling the cuff on the 1st sleeve so will take it out and fix up the messy look of it when I am done with the 2nd one. I had never knitted a sleeve top down before and found it awkward. I will send a pic of the complete sweater when I am finished.

Finished a pair of socks for my daughter - toe up with flap and gusset. I haven’t blocked them yet.

Hi, I go to a Knit and Natter Club here in Spain and we have been knitting for the homeless. I have just finished knitting scarves, hats, fingerless gloves and balaclavas and these as well as the other ‘girls’ knitted items going to be raken to the Hostel. We did this last year and they were so grateful. Now I have decided that I am going to knit some Bo Beep Bonnets for ladies - equivalent to a mans balaclava so searching for a pattern on 2 needles. Will do a few samples but I am sure they will be lovely and warm and a change from woollie hats. Keep smiling and knitting, Jean 13

I just finished these tiny Christmas tree

sweaters for my sister-in-law and 2 (grown) nephews.

The first of two stockings for a friend’s children; colour arrangement basically made up as I went while following and modifying a basic stocking pattern and some charts I found online of ravens as that’s this girl’s name. I got red felt to line it with and, if I don’t forget, will finish off by adding a matching 3 colour braid/hanging loop with large red and silver Christmas jingle bells on the ends.

The next stocking will be self striping yarn, if I can find the yarn I planned to use.

What’s really cool is Berroco puts out these patterns for free each December. I’d love to see the ones you made. Where did you get your patterns? Some are free on Ravelry.

Patterns? Sorry, I didn’t use any. I just made them up as I knit. I didn’t do anything fancy. Grandson wanted a sweater like I did for ornaments for a little stress squeezy thing with a humanoid-ish shape. That was challenging. I had to make a sweater that would go over the large head, no neck, and still fit the little guy with extraordinarily short arms it was meant for.

Way, way too cute! And the little clothes hangers too!

There are some free patterns for little Xmas sweaters on lovecrafts too if you were looking for more, or different patterns

That’s great, so nice to make personalised xmas stockings. The kids will love them!

Hi all, not been knitting for a while but I’m back and currently making the step by step sweater by Florence in Drops Nepal.

Love those, especially the little cream one at the bottom and the Elf outfit!

I have great admiration for you if you can knit without a pattern.

The cream one at the bottom is my favorite but is too big for our 3 and 4 foot trees. So I’m giving it away.

The Elf suit was a free pattern but it required a purchased pattern to get started.
