April and the seasons are changing. Are you making light summery wraps or sweaters? Or is this the time to break out the winter wear with all its sweaters, scarves, mittens in your part of the world?
Whatever you’ve made or are making, we’d love to see it or read about it. Any finished projects or works in progress? You are the inspiration for many more projects.
I’ve finally gotten going on the zig-zag edging on my Resplendence shawl! I’ve only done the 2 setup rows, so it’s not worth showing yet. Took a crazy long time to pick up and knit 645 stitches, and I actually still have yet to check my count… Next comes the row that sets the zig-zag pattern, and I’ve just been too busy to focus on it.
645? Whew! I’m in awe.
Wow that’s a lot of stitches to count. Good that markers were invented!
I am currently knitting sleeve number 5 for my sweater. And still another to knit.
No, I’m not an insect.
The plan is not a sweater with 6 sleeves, just a regular sweater with 2 sleeves.
If only I could get them right!
I knit. I frog. I knit. I frog.
I had the right number of stitches on my shawl border!! All 645 of them! Made it through the set-up row for the zig-zags. I hope to have enough to take a pic in a few days… Gotta say, though–I’m not looking forward to the bind-off. Mr. West does love his I-cord!
I love the i-cord bind off but 645! Excellent that you have each one of them.
This made me laugh!
645!!!
I’m still working away on my thorn cardigan. I’ve had two bouts of illness making this, I’d hoped I’d be finished by now. Hoping to have it done by the end of the month because I’m going away and I want to wear it - luckily I’m going to Scotland so there should still be time to get a couple of wears in before the weather gets nice!
You are going to be the envy of everyone in Scotland. Gorgeous!
Have a great trip.
Well, there was some benefit to my 6 sleeves then if it made someone laugh! Always good to laugh.
I have finally managed a correct sleeve 5 and today made sleeve 6. They were top down sleeves and are both at the rib cuff. I haven’t quite decided how many rows the cuff will be but I think I’m half way through one of them, the other cuff will be frogged back as i want to change the colour. I’ll probably put both cuffs on hold and move on to seaming, currently the sweater is seamed with thread to see how the sleeve fits, neck line width and shape and various other questionable aspects.
I’m still not sure how I went so wrong, so many times with a stockinette sleeve, I just couldn’t get the (very regular and not at all fancy) shape right.
Your cardigan is looking great. You’ll get plenty of wear in Scotland!
Working on the Chroi sweater - about 10 rows to go before I separate the front and back. I just started the chart for the hearts on the upper part of the sweater.
Haven’t decided what to knit with this lovely sock yarn - perhaps a small shawl. I found it in a thrift store for $1.50 CAD. Listed on the website for $32. I love finding great bargains.
I really admire your ability to rework things! If something doesn’t work out for me I’m at a loss as to how to improve it.
Although I’m secretly disappointed you’re not making this…
Beautiful! That colour is gorgeous, too.
thank you I needed to laugh
Pinch yourself. I think you’re dreaming. lol That’s an incredible find!
Naypo, it would have taken less time to make that!
I don’t have much option when it goes wrong, frog and try again. I really don’t know what went so wrong, I used the knitting calculator for the first 3 sleeves and usually that works first time, so… some crazy maths happened. Sleeve 4 I did the maths myself and I could have left it at that because it did fit but I wasn’t keen on how wide I’d left the lower arm. Oddly I worked 2 lots of this wrong sleeve…
I frogged two thirds of both number 4s and reworked 60+ rows each to get sleeves 5 and 6, or possibly that was 6 and 7… I don’t even know.
I feel like this ought to be close to finishing now but I still haven’t resolved the neckline (already done about 4 necks and ripped them out).
It keeps me occupied.
