Whatcha' Knitting? April, 2025

645 stitches!!! I’d be afraid to double check the count.. Good luck!!!

I am still in practice mode for knitting an adult sweater. Just made my second baby sweater and now knitting a matching hat. They’re pretty quick but give me practice with technique. I’ve spent loads of time looking at videos on weaving, adding button bands (still struggling to get those right!!! I put them on, I rake them off! :woman_facepalming:), mattress stitch versus sewing together with back stitch (I think that’s what it’s called). And trying to knit swatches before starting anything!!! Deciding if I count my long tail cast on as row 1 or not. I’ve made many scarves and blankets but haven’t knitted sweaters for a while. Happy knitting everyone!!!

Baby sweaters are great practice for lots of the sweater techniques. I’d say you’ve conquered this from buttonbands to stitch pattern. The cardigan is adorable.

Finishing up a couple of Winter knits that got pushed back when one of my dogs sprained my thumb. Also have a few NKPs (non-knitting projects) that I will be working on throughout the hotter months (Texas in Summer ain’t for the faint of heart!). I have yarn for several sleeveless lacy tops and two twinsets (love the vintage patterns) and that should get me into next Fall/Winter when the next round of Winter sweaters will be started. Sweaters and socks are just about my favorite things to knit!

Thank you!!!

Perfection. Beautiful stitch pattern and made so nicely. I don’t think you need practise mode, this is finished so well!

Stitch markers every 20 stitches really helps count long edges! But then, of course, when I did the first pattern row, every single one of the 32 markers was in the middle of a k2tog…

That’s amazing. Makes me think of Stitch (he has a 6 arm form, at least in a manga I read last year).

You have been busy. Unfortunately the photos didn’t upload. Would you try again? We’d love to see any and all!

Just finished a baby blanket (the Look for Happiness - blanket, in several sizes I knit the baby) and now working on some hats for a homeless shelter for the fall as a palate cleanser. They are 2X2 rib and mindless knits I can pick up to knit when my brain doesn’t have the ability to concentrate, and I can watch a TV and knit them, but they are still useful knits in the fall and winter :).

Thanks for reposting! The photos are wonderful to see.

I have started a pair of gloves that will be a Christmas gift for my daughter. I am using Knit Picks Hawthorne yarn in the colorway called Garibaldi.

Morning. I am knitting a top down cardigan for the first time. I’ve finished the yoke section and I’m about to divide for sleeves. The pattern instructs to knit the sleeves first and then knit the rest of the body. Not sure what I’m supposed to do with all the other stitches while I am doing the sleeves. The pattern is Cardigan by Florence Merlin. I’ve read a lot of comments on Ravelry and most people put the sleeve stitches on holders, knitted the body and then knitted the sleeves last. Yikes! I knew this day would come! Any thoughts? Thank you so much!!!

The yoke is so pretty.
If it was me I’d just follow the pattern because I don’t have enough experience with working this style to go off pattern. You can just leave the stitches you aren’t working on the needle and ignore them, or if you find they are in the way you can thread a long piece of waste yarn or embroidery thread through them with a tapestry needle as a long holder (I put a slip knot each end with removable marker or safety pin through the slip knot and then link them), or if you have a spare cable or smaller needle you can put them on hold on that, just slip each stitch on. Use a needle stopper or cable stopper or elastic band to stop them slipping off while you work the sleeve.

Thank you so much. I tend to read my patterns ahead so I know what’s coming up next!! I am going to try to just follow the pattern, one step at a time!!! Thanks again,
