Welcome to the forum!

That’s one of the many wonderful things about knitting. Always so much to learn.

Thanks for joining us.

Hello! I found you through a search for help with my Basic Beanie, a project I’m using to get into knitting. I learned k and p as a child but never did much with it. Now, decades later, I’m excited to have picked up needles and ready to progress in skill. The hat went well and I was having so much fun – until I transitioned from round needle to dpns. Suddenly I was knitting on the wrong side without knowing how it happened. I need to rip out that part and try again without losing or twisting stitches – this is feeling daunting! I’m trying to be patient rather than just ripping and hoping for the best, haha. Going to search around the site for posts and videos that might help. If anyone can help narrow that search, I’d be grateful. So glad you’re all here!

Welcome to KnittingHelp!

See if this video helps with the flipping.

Yes, thank you!! That is exactly what I did wrong. You’ve just saved me a lot of searching!

Next issue is how to take out the incorrect rows without dropping or twisting any stitches… seems easier with flat work than circular. I think I may need to set up a lifeline.

Thanks again!

Lifelines are the best. Can you take the sts out one at a time (tinking)?

Hi –I am Patti –I live in South Dakota—awhile back I purchased the premium video on making mitten–I though we had life time access to it—now I can’t find it–Do you know where it is on your page? Thanks Patti

Hi Patti and welcome!

I’ll see if Amy and Sheldon can help with the premium video for mittens. Thank you for joining the forum.

Have you found any thing out about the video for mittens?

I haven’t heard so far. I’ll post or send a message as soon as I hear.

Hi @dakotacandle Sorry you can’t find the video you purchased. You can go to this link below and enter in your email address and it will send a new video link to your inbox. If you’re email has changed, let me know by private message and I can update it.

It says it doesn’t recognize my email–could you just go ahead and send me the link to the mitten video–it was years ago that I bought it–thanks

Thanks for the update. It does look like our system found your email and sent you a fresh link via email. If you don’t see it, please look in your spam folder. Cheers!

Hi! I’m Dorothy and am from Ottawa, Canada. I’ve been knitting since I was a young girl and now that I am retired I’m venturing into learning things I haven’t done before. I have already had incredible help from @salmonmac (thank you!) and am looking forward to learning from all of you. Thank you for the warm welcome!

You’re part of the group now! We’re delighted to hear from you with comments, projects or questions, whatever.

Hello,

I’m a returning knitter. I knitted years ago, but I just decided to start back. I had a stroke 5 years ago, and I find my skills are quite “rusty”. YouTube has become my go to for help, and now I have found this forum!

Welcome to KnittingHelp!
We’re glad you’re back to knitting and that you’ve found us too. YouTube is a good guide but we’re always ready to try and help.

Hi all, I was taught to knit by my grandma as a young girl. Knitted lots of complicated patterns with her guidance until I left for uni. Never touched my knitting needles again until around 2 years ago my daughter came on a visit & found the one project I’d kept for 40 years. She loved it & asked to keep it. A week later a knitting kit arrived in the post and a please please mum request to knit her another jumper. Knitting kits now arrive on a regular basis. I’ve been knitting around 2-3 projects a month ever since. Her partner said they have no more room, so they are cycled between here & her apartment depending on the season. I’ve also knitted for friends and other family members. Managed to keep just one or two myself. My favourite so far was tunto in rosy green wool - that I’ve kept

Welcome to the forum!
It’s lovely to carry on the knitting tradition from your grandmother. And it sounds like you’ve done that over and over with grand success.
We’re happy have you join us with more knitting to come in 2026.

What a lovely backstory. 2 to 3 projects a month is a lot, you must knit very fast in grandma’s knitting style!

Hi everyone!
I’m a relatively new knitter/crochet-er that’s managed a few projects and am learning new things with every knit! I’ve mostly learnt from youtube after my Mum’s attempts to teach me in my youth were thwarted by younger sister unravelling and tangling up all the yarn.
It’s a nice peaceful activity that’s relaxing with a satisfying end result, so I’m trying to spend more time on this hobby.
As I get into trying to make more complicated patterns I’m sure I’ll be here a lot to ask for help!
