Hi! I’m new to this forum and a new knitter! Started two months ago and loving it. I am learning mainly from blogs and videos on youtube, and have found that most of the content is in English (Portuguese being my mother tongue), so now and then I have some trouble understanding what I’m really supposed to do haha. I hope to find some guidence in here and help when I can ![]()

Hi Amy,
Thanks for letting me join!
I’m Paul, U.K, I’ve been knitting since childhood. Until recently I’ve only ever done my own patterns that I’ve made up, hence the reason for me joining as I didn’t understand the pattern. I would also love to hear from other male knitters as I have never met any either online or in person so it would be great to hear from a few!
Welcome to KnittingHelp!
It’s impressive that you’ve been making up your own patterns. We’re all happy to help with patterns and happy to have you join the forum.
Welcome, Paul! Jody Long is not only a male knitter, but he designs knitwear in the UK!

Thanks for the assist with my pattern the other day. I think I’ve got a good understanding of paytern reading now ![]()
Check if your local yarn shop has a men’s knitting group! Many do. And if they don’t, you could start one!
And there’s a Facebook group called Real Men Knit…
Hi I am new this forum, would love to learn about knitting and thought this would be a good place to start. I had done knitting when I was 12 years old because my dad’s aunt said, girls need to learn knitting, however, never continued later. But now I think it can help me to stay focused and use my energy in creating something.
Welcome unpredictable!
Knitting is always there for everyone, relaxing and creative too. Glad to have you join us.
thank you so much ![]()
Welcome to all the new members from a self-taught knitter from Florida
Haven’t been around for a long time…good to see it is still here
Welcome back!
Yes, still here with questions, comments and loads of beautiful projects.
Hello! Im Hash and im from Florida USA. Im new to knitting but hope to become a master soon. Im learning in continental style because i hope to knit two handed color work one day. Im right handed and thought it would be smart to start with the non dominant hand first. So far ive completed one sock, three hedgehogs, one shawl, two christmas bulbs, and seven dish rags. The thing i love most about knitting is learning new stitches. Its so exciting to do anything thats more than a simple k1p1
I will have lots of questions and thank you all in advanced for letting me into the community.
Thanks for joining us and welcome!
It’s so good to start with all kinds of projects and experiment with stitch patterns. Lots of adventures in knitting to be had. We love to see projects and love questions too.
Hi, I am over the moon to have found this site. I love knitting, but I get easily confused by “instructions”. I am hoping to become a better knitter.
Welcome tancar55! We love knitting too and are hoping to become better knitters as well. Thanks for joining us on this knitting adventure.
Thank you ![]()
I have been knitting for a long time and there is still plenty more to learn. Thanks for doing this site
