Hello! I’ve just joined! Thank you for making a knitting community!!

Welcome to the group! We’re glad you joined us.

Hello all, I’m new here, actually new to any online forum ever. Looking forward to learning so much more about knitting!

Welcome to KH! This is a helpful, friendly place to be. Thank you for joining.

Hello Amy, Sheldon and fellow crafters!

My name is Philip and my significant other (Eleni) and I, have been operating (we are the Administrators and Hosts, that is) an online crafting community called: International Virtual Knit Nights (iVKN, as we like to refer to it for short!).

We live in Greece and are both knitters and Indie yarn dyers, but Eleni also crochets, spins, sews, weaves and cross stitches (I think I haven’t missed any of the other Fiber Arts she does!).

We have been running our community since the beginning of 2018 and it’s basically a safe online space where Fiber Arts crafters (not strictly knitters) can meet and share their thoughts and experiences and a whole lot more! We do live videoconferencing sessions using the Zoom Meetings platform and host 3 weekly iVKN sessions almost throughout the year (except for the Xmas, New Year and Summer holiday breaks when our meeting schedule may become a bit less frequent).

We can be found on Facebook (International Virtual Knit Nights), Instagram ( @ivirtualknitnights ) and Ravelry ( International Virtual Knit Nights - iVKN ), so anyone interested in learning more about what our community is, can basically go to our Ravelry group’s page and read some important details there regarding our philosophy, guidelines etc…

It’s nice to have found this resource that you have created and we will try to spread the word about it as well! I do hope it would be ok to create a separate thread in the forum, to share a few more things about our community and how it operates (because we are always in search for Fiber Arts crafters who may share the same enthusiasm as we do, to meet fellow crafters and make meaningful friendships out of such interactions!), so if you can, please let me know in your reply here if this would be allowed and wouldn’t be something that would go against your own community rules.

Thanks so much in advance for your time!

Kind regards,

Phil & Eleni

Hello,

I am Jason, a 50 year old male from the UK who started crocheting 2 weeks ago to try and help with my depression and anxiety from loosing my wife just over 3 years ago to covid. I am hoping this will just help me ease and clear my mind and give me some sort of eased peace.

Hi Jason and welcome to KnittingHelp!
My condolences to you and your family. Knitting and crochet are relaxing crafts that do help with stress. I’m glad you’ve picked up crochet and hope that we can help with questions and comments. Plus we love to see finished projects here.

Hi Salmonmac,

Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum Jason! I lost my oldest son on Dec10th 2022 due to an upper respiratory infection and complications of his dialysis treatment. Five months later on May 312023 we lost our female miniature long hair dachshund Sugarfoot when she passed away in her sleep… Then in Dec we lost our male miniature long hair dachshund Gunner’s Coal when he took his last breath on Dec16th 2023. So I know exactly how you aer feeling.

Morning all. I’m new to this site. I’ve been knitting for a year or so, since retiring. I’m loving learning- mostly from you tube videos. Started with cowls, progressed to circular knitting of socks for family ( they’ve been really popular lol) and just completed a flat knitted jumper- still seaming that together (not my favourite task). Just started a top down jumper for one of my grandsons, which is going well and no seaming- yippee! Great to be able to join this forum and hope to learn a lot more!

Welcome to the forum!
And wow, there is no stopping you. You’ve made fantastic progress from cowls to socks to sweaters. Great to have you join us.

I just signed up. I’m a ninth generation quilter, but working on a knitting project atm. I am attempting to make 3-color argyle socks.

Welcome to the forum! That’s quite a history in quilting to be very proud of. I hope we get to see a photo of the socks when you finish. Thanks for joining us.

Thank you for the welcome! I am a relative novice in the world of knitting. My Mom taught me in the 50s; but, I didn’t do much with it after age 13 or so. Over Covid, like many people I picked it up again. I wanted good quality warm wool socks. The Crazy Sock Lady on YouTube helped me produce over a dozen pair. I then tackled the “Lana Grossa” Poncho pullover - a stunner. Now I am on the Euler Cardigan by Linda Marveng. I will look in your how to section for others who are somewhat confused. If I can’t find what I need I’ll post a question.

Hi I’ve just joined this group as it will be so helpful. Our first grandchild was born 4weeks ago and I’ve decided to try to knit him a jumper or jacket for the autumn. I’m giving myself lots of time so I get it right as it’s a long time since I picked up my knitting needles. I’m sure I will have lots of questions as my knitting progresses.
Thanks for the nice welcome x

Welcome to the forum!
And most important of all congratulations on the birth of your first grandchild. You have lots of good reasons to get back to knitting now. Ask all the questions you need to ask. We welcome them.

Hi There
Am excited to be here. Just finished my first project after a break of nearly 30 years. Had forgotten how therapeutic and creative it feels to just knit!
Am on with another jumper now knitted in the traditional way. Next I plan on something new….a jumper knitted on the round. Icelandic with fair isle. Fair isle I am familiar with, but not a jumper knitted as three tubes. Am up for the challenge but suspect I will need advice.
I did look for a group to actually attend, but sadly none I could find near me. And the I found this…….a whole bunch of enthusiasts!
How cool is that!
Lizzie
