VICSTORIA (Victoise returns)

:waving: Hi Vic! It’s good to hear from you. I’d imagined that you were knitting up goodies for the sale.

Oh boo. Why cant I just order my yarn swift? I’ve finally got the go ahead (from DH) but I just can’t decide on the place. I want a Glimakra that’s for certain and one place says the large is the best way to go. hmmmmm

It’s raining cats and dogs. It’s my cat Toisie’s 12th birthday today.
Unfortunately my dad just told me he has a tumor behind his ear. Don’t know anything else til he sees another doctor.

ba bump

Well, back to knitting. I’m making another cotton little shawl for sale and will post some pix soon.

cheers, Vic

Oh gee. I am ha-ppy! As stated elsewhere in a seperate post, I couldn’t decide where to buy my yarn swift and then 2 Sundays ago I sat down and did a last minute bid on ebaby (that’s a typo but I think I like ebaby better than ebay and will use that from now on) and got the Glimakra Swedish swift I wanted for over a year… last 10 minutes on the auction. Got it for $51 plus $13 shipping.
THEN of course I find out Diva knitting would send it free shipping for $59.99 but oh well…

anyhoo I did the Fed Ex tracking thing for the first time and was crushed to read it wouldn’t arrive til Wed (tomorrow) when I thought I might get it like way last week on Fri or something but then it arrived TODAY a DAY EARLIER and here she be along with my first ball I wound.

Oh IT’S HEAVEN. I like Swedish things ahem.

And since my DH went out of town on Friday (to Florida, Naples where I was invited but didn’t go coz my cat has asthma and I didn’t want to leave her) I found myself talking to my beach rock today and decided I better start posting again. Talking to my cats wayyyyy too much.

And, to perk up my day on Saturday I began a WATERMELON HAT
and here it is although I haven’t sewn in the top yet. I did it according to someone elses pattern and I think it’s too big well too big for me but I’ve already started one for me coz I want one now (going to sell this one). It’s DARLING isn’t it? Donegal Tweed and Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride. Now I want to make a strawberry hat and a melon hat and maybe a cucumber hat. (am I going crazy or is this a good track?) Thought veggie hats fruit hats might sell well at the Farmer’s Market I’m going to try and sell at.

Still wondering how to price things though. I thought $50 for this hat but you know it is a lot of work putting those seeds in. (well let the non-knitters think so anyhow) So what the heck what about $65? Probably too much but it sure wouldn’t be here in the city.

We’ll see.

Funny, I didn’t want to go to Florida coz I don’t like to fly. Fear of flying. Then I wasn’t sure if I wanted to come back to the city and go on the subway coz a guy stabbed 4 people last week (they got him). Then another kid stabbed someone, they say it’s a gang initiation thing ha ha isn’t that cute. So. Fear of the subway & being stabbed. Then my husband told me I shouldn’t stay alone for the weekend in the country coz a guy broke out of jail upstate (with a can opener no less) and he was on the run rather near us:
Fear of Escaped Prisoners. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh My friend told me to take a taxi downtown on Sat to have lunch, he would pay. At the last minute I got on the subway, it was all families, a baby was sleeping next to my knee. Lesson: I could have taken the cab and got in a crash, who can deal with all these different Fears?

I’m reading a new novel for a change and it’s got me wanting to write again.

Got my hair cut today which I haven’t had cut for almost a year. My hairdresser asked what was wrong with me coz my hair was in terrible shape, to wait a year for a haircut. I said I guess I was sort of a rebel… don’t always do things I’m supposed to. Then on the way home I go into this shoe store and buy these slip on sneakers and when I get home I see inside they say: Rebel. ? huh?

Then, in front of my building on Broadway, I was wondering how the woman walking in front of me could walk in such high heels and what a super tight black dress for such a hot day. Then I passed by and heard her talking and it was Cynthia Nixon from Sex and the City and I thought, oh yeah, well you gotta wear high heels like that once you’re in Sex and the City. Ouch (I wore the shoes out of the store they were so comfortable) (I didn’t have heels on, espadrilles that cut into your foot after so many hours)

                                 The GLIMAKRA ROCKS!

all for now,

  Vic

OMG! I LOVE that watermelon hat!! Too cute! :cheering:

I love it, too! I think fruit and veggie hats–especially for little ones–will sell like hot cakes. How about a hot cakes hat?

The watermelon hat is sooo adorable!!! :inlove: :inlove:

That hat is wonderful!

Thanks guys! a hot cake hat? hmmmmm what would that look like?

I’m trying to decide what a strawberry looks like to do that. Have to go buy some and sit and stare at them ha, or eat them.

I cover them with melted chocolate and then eat them. Then I go to work and tell my cellmate, “Hey! I’ve added fruit to my diet!”

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

Ummm…aside from ridiculous you mean?

Strawberry Hat I was going to make one last night, but didn’t have enough red.

Oh my god Jan, that’s beauuuu ti ful! Wow! I have to go look at that agiin!

Maybe that’s what I need to do next. THANKS!

It is cute isn’t it! I am working on a shell for myself right now. I already frogged it (about 3 in worth!) to make a smaller size. I sure hope this will be small enough. Knitting Pure and Simple patterns seem to be quite generous. Anyhoo…between that and stashbusting with charity stuff I haven’t had time or the money to buy yarn for the watermelon or strawberry hat. Sooooon!!!

ha, stashbusting… I just keep buying more yarn and I have BAGS AND BAGS. But there is a sale going on 2 blocks from me at
The Yarn Company so I bought 3 more balls of gorgeous stuff yesterday.
(at least I don’t buy 10 balls of each yarn which I would really like to do grrrrr make some sweaters for a change instead of all these little projects…)

I have to make that strawberry hat now. oh dear

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii everybody! Hola…

Happy July! Well, after knitting up things for the past SIX months to sell at this farmer’s market up here near me… called The Pakatakan Market… I was rejected full force. What a shock.
How silly of me to just have expected to be included ! ???

Went there um 2 Saturdays ago and found the Lady In Charge.
Explained I wanted to be a vendor. Of what? replied she.
Knitted goods. Oh, frown frown. Sorry, we cant have more of that. Why not I asked. We have to be careful of “crafts” because they would take over … we’re more about farmgoods (vegetables eggs flowers). I looked around… outside that day there were NO CRAFT PEOPLE. Inside the round barn there were TWO CRAFT PEOPLE. ??? Some gals who felt and sell knit hats & toys, of whom there are 6 who share a table, were in Rhinebeck at a show so their spot was empty. But it seems like they have the slot and that’s that.

I also said “I would think the more the merrier” and she repeated “Oh no, you have to be careful with craft people, they would just take over”.
TAKEOVER BY…THE CRAFT PEOPLE! DA DA DA DA DA DA DA

This is a small farmer’s market AND there’s often not enough to look at. And I’m using LOCAL wool and alpaca… well,
grumble grumble. What a surprise. Tables at this market rent for only $17 and $20. And their ads specify CRAFTS.

Ok. I’m done grumbling.

Trying to decide what to knit next and it’s driving me crazy.
Just finished a beautiful long long long scarf and a cotton/silvery metallic shawl. Will post some pix soon.

So many new people around wow! wow wow wow

okey doke, all for now Vic

That is horrible that you couldn’t get a table after all that hard work! One would think she’d be happy to have another vendor of anything - especially if there were empty tables. No fair!

P.S. If anybody is near NYC this week this lady’s sale is not to be missed!

(don’t know if you can do an online purchase for the sale but her yarns are just fantastic… I have many)

That really stinks that you couldn’t sell your stuff! I get the impression that the ‘woman in charge’ does what she wants in spite of what the intention of the market was.

I wonder if there are any craft fairs scheduled anywhere around there? You’re all stocked up and ready to roll.

That sucks Vic!!! :frowning:

[b]OH MY GOD I NEEDED THAT!!!!!!!

THANK YOU HILDIE!!!!! WHOOOOO I feel so much better!

I’m thinking (pretty sure am going to) of writing her…

to show to her “board” as she put it. Funny thing about this market, it was The Place for everyone to take their dogs, it was truly amazing to see so many cool dogs (all getting along mind you) and all of a sudden, after years of this, the “board” decided NO MORE DOGS as of July 1.

Gettin’ sadder and sadder that market.

I gotta go look at that again.... maybe I'll print it out Hildie and send it to The Boss Lady.
