Just curious if anyone has successfully knit the Socks by the Heel pattern, by Louise Robert for Biscotte Yarns. I have made a few stabs at it, but haven’t been successful getting past the initial increases that form the heel. I would love to know if anyone can explain how to proceed, once I have 120 stitches on my needle. TIA!

I’ve not knit this pattern. Could you take a photo of what you have and post it? I’m going to look at projects on Ravelry for enlightenment.

Sorry, but I just unraveled what I had done. My confusion begins when I have increased to 120 sts. and supposed to knit 45, and make that point my new BOR. The Transition Short Rows end up in the totally wrong place for me.
What an interesting sock pattern! If you get stuck again, a photo of your work will help us figure out where (and if) you’ve gone wrong. I see there’s a correction for Row 7 posted on the Ravelry page, in case that’s of any help.
If it will help you can quote a couple of rows of the pattern. Don’t give us more than that please. We can’t post large portions of patterns due to designer copyright.
I may have had an epiphany, but I have to reek it from the start, so may be a while before I know if I am finally thinking correctly. Fingers crossed!!
Low and behold, I figured it out, and am happily knitting my first sock! Thanks for your responses
I am going to reek it and see if I have it figured out now. My pattern does have the correction made to it, but thanks for pointing it out.
Was this pattern knit from toes up? Just curious or did you start at the heel and then work in both directions?

It literally starts at the heel, and then works in both directions. It’s free on Ravelry…I may have to try this!
This pattern starts at the heel. You increase to 120 sts in the rnd, then put 60 of them in to waste yarn, and begin working the remaining 60 sts in the rnd for the leg. That’s the point I am at right now. Once the leg is done, you put the remaining 60 on your circular needle and create the foot. The free pattern is on ravelry or at BiscotteYarns.com
Good for you for figuring this out. Your sock heel looks great. I hope you’ll post a photo of the finished pair from this intriguing pattern.
I’m interested in knowing how you figured out what works. When I read the pattern it appeared to me that you were supposed to knit stitches that weren’t on the needle. I think the short rows are supposed to be in the middle of the 60 stitches on the needle but the instructions didn’t seem to make that happen. I’m tempted to try this pattern myself but can’t right now.
You knit across 45 stitches and rearrange the 60 that are not on the waste yarn, so you have 30 on each half of your cable needle. You now work those in the round. The GSR sts end up in the middle, which runs up the center front of your sock. I hope that’s clear.
Thanks. I think it makes sense. I may try these yet.
I finished the first sock. Not completely sold on the look. I think I may prefer it in a solid color, rather than the self-striping I chose. It’s a tad too snug on my high instep; otherwise, the fit is good. I really liked the cast on method that was recommended by the designer. You can watch it at https://youtu.be/r-mhv0n5vs8
The sock look gorgeous. There are several comments on Ravelry about the tightness over the foot arch. Some have increased more sts than the pattern called for to ease this tightness then decreased later on the foot.
You did it! Well done.
Thank you. I think I will add about 4 stitches. These socks use only 60, whereas I have always done 64 and been fine.
Thanks. It is such an interesting concept, I just had to give it a go.
