Socks by the Heel, by Louise Robert

Maybe 60 sts would work for me. I usually do 58 with 30 st gusset increases. Not knowing about how they will or won’t fit is why I’ve never tried the pattern. I’ve long been intrigued by it. I wonder if more rounds on the heel would improve the fit for you.

Now there’s a thought. A couple rounds may do the trick. Thanks for the suggestion.

I’m thinking that it might work as written for me. I could try it on soon after doing the short rows maybe, if I’m understanding the construction. I’m not highly motivated. It’s seldom cold enough here for me to wear warm socks and I’ll never wear out all the ones I’ve already made. They’ve taken over two drawers already. lol I could play with making slippers and follow the construction method using worsted weight yarn. That would be faster too.

That looks beautiful! Nice job and way to stick with it and figure it out. I’ve never done a sock starting at the heal-sounds complicated!

Thank you so much! I am just beginning the second sock, and I know that it will be a breeze, now that I understand the construction method. Thought I would not make a second pair with this pattern, but am rethinking that, and how it might look in a solid or heathered yarn. I am so amazed by people’s abilities to come up with techniques and patterns!
