Thanks! I was playing around with the way I hold the hook last night, and I usually hold it like a pencil, but when I hold it with the head pointing upward, it doesn’t hurt as much.
A crochet blanket in Koigu?! Your mom must be loaded!

Shay, that blue afghan! :passedout:
I have a ripple afghan in similar shades of blue that my Grandma made and I
it. But the star pattern is just fabulous!
:roflhard:
and very determined!!! it is the prettiest, softest, most amazing WIP I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even ASK her how much its costing total. I just hope to inherit it someday!!! ![]()

I’m sure it’s nice! I’ve never even thought about crocheting a blanket with a knitting yarn, only a wool blend, like the ripple in my photo. That’s made with Plymouth Encore. The other 2 are made with Red Heart (tweed and supersaver, from left to right), which I wouldn’t even think about knitting with.
Any chance you could snag a pic of her work?
I’m going to try to get her to lay out all the squares to see if I can get a pic. I’ll see her Sunday…
Great! Give her my best!
Thanks everyone
Conti
I love the granny square one that you made out of sage mary yarn…very pretty.
Thanks, but the colorway is actually “Watercolor”
This is an afghan I made using the Lace Medallion pattern by Priscilla Hewitt.
Here’s the pattern: http://hometown.aol.com/crochetalong/lacemedsq.html
ContiKnitter, go to Flickr and type search for babette afghan. There is a group on Flickr dedicated to this, but I can’t remember the name. It’s a beautiful blanket that was originally shown in pattern in Koigu. That’s some money, I tell you what.
Shay, I love your round and star ripples. I wanna make one, too.
Shay~:passedout::passedout:what a beautiful aghan~ WOW~!
How did you keep the points on the afghan. I have been making baby blankets and went to crochetville.org for help b/c my corneres were becoming round… So I 5hdc in each corner ( the pattern was hdc)… it was big help… the corners starightened up nicely…
BUT wow… how did you put such geometrical desgins in your afghan?:clink:
This is my first Tunisian stitch piece and definitely my first cross stitch effort but both turned out to be easier to navigate than I imagined.
I picked up the initial pattern which is for a tote bag from the April/May issue of Crochet Today magazine…Since I’m more a backpack kind of gal, I adjusted the body of the bag for I-cord shoulder straps and cinch for the top of the bag.
If nothing else, it will make a great knit/crochet project bag.
I wish this was a better picture but hopefully you’ll get the general idea! :waving:
Thanks, Nikki, I’ll do that!
Thanks so much…i followed this pattern and then just did 6 rows of each color.I used 3 colors and 3 skeins of each, then just kept going till i ran out.
It’s more of a filet crochet type stitch - three dcs, 3 ch, 3dc, 3 ch (with shaping along the edges). The design is at www.stitchdiva.com. I want to make it for me now!
I don’t have a picture right now, I’ll post one tomorrow, I’m working on a purse at the moment!
Shay, I started that afghan earlier tonight! The yarns I’m using are Red Heart Aran, Caron 1 pound Soft Sage, and Caron 1 pound country rose. I’m just doing 4 rows of each color on an H hook.
I really like the pattern, it’s simple, but not boring. Just what I like in an afghan!
That’s really nice Braden! I think I’m going to make one too.
That looks great Braden, and i really like the colors you picked out.Its really a great pattern to do because its kind of mindless but fun…once it gets bigger the rows seem to take forever but i never get tired of making them.I have to get started on one for a wedding gift…im going to do it in white and heather…its always a big hit and they use them.
Cant wait to see it bigger.
This is Beth’s star-shaped afghan. It’s my first crochet FO!!! I am enormously proud. :cheering:
