This is worsted weight yarn, it’s one of the first skeins I dyed. I used kool-aid. i’m saling it,which makes me a little sad but I really need a ball winder.
I have a few skein of lace weight yarn that is drying now and I’ll pictures once they are dry.
Oh my gosh! The most recently dyed yarns are beautiful. I adore “The Roof is on Fire” and the “Ocean” lace yarn but I TOTALLY DIG the Strawberries in the Morning. I LOVE that color combo!! What did you use to dye the yarn?
I just had to share - after seeing so many of your beautiful hand-dyed, I had to try my own. I used kool-aid, and I had so much fun! My 3 1/2 dd was even able to help with the handpainted one!
I wanted variations in the solid one, so was afraid to mix it around too much, and it’s a little too drastic in some spots, but I’ll know for next time
I dyed up a few skeins for the Peapod Baby set. I used Jacquard acid dyes. I used 2 colors but they ended up so similar that the yarn just looks a little tonal when knit up. It’s really pretty. This is just one of the skeins, photographed twice, from different angles. I should have taken a picture while it was skeined but I forgot.
I call it Sapphire Sky, and if I ever decide to dye for money, my company will be called Holey Sheep! Designs

I was just in the kitchen making up a new pitcher of lemonade, and I’m so conditioned to think of kool-aid for dyeing, now, that I had to start by adding just a quarter cup of water first, then another quarter, just to see how nice a yellow it would make ! :roflhard:
OMG. there’s so much inspiration on this thread!
I’ve just started learning how to spin and dye and am working on a sweater that uses “Fire & Ice” inspired colors.
Here’s a summary of my dyeing journey.
Here’s a bunch of other nature inspired yarns I’ve dyed and spun. They’re way at the bottom of the entry.
