it’s handspun, and I dyed the roving before I spun it. There are two plys, so when you put two of those together, they don’t really match up in color all the time, creating what’s called “barberpoling” or “ragg” style yarn.
dscokween, I covet the russet.
Last night, I kool-aid dyed some wool to make a soaker for my SO’s grandson. The label reads Red Heart Baby Bunting 3 fold 100% virgin wool. My sister gave it to me last October and I don’t know what 3 fold means - perhaps 3 ply?
I used some of it undyed last year to make a soaker and the baby’s momma wants more, so I must’ve done well. I double-stranded it and will do so again. The red will be used for the trim.
Ice blue raspberry lemonade and tropical punch are the “flavors.”
i love the ice blue raspberry yarn! i look for that flavor everywhere i go  i so want to use it!
nice dye job zip!
:cheering:Thank you… it is very pretty… my mom is wanting to get into spinning… she is looking for the perfect spinning wheel right now… she went to a knitters/spinners weekend and they let her try it out… she really enjoyed it… which means I can have her show me after she gets it all down :shifty::rofling:

Second dyesession:

I made these a few days ago:

next time i go to the grocery store i may just have to stock up on some koolaid. these are all so gorgeous!
Mine aren’t dyed with koolaid, but with eastereggdye. It works just like koolaid, only you have to add acid (vinegar).
then i’ll have to get some of both. cheep hand-dyed yarn, here i come! :happydance:
Want me to mail you a pack or three?
Thanks to each of you for admiring my first dye effort!
Lieke, nice work! I sought easter egg dye one day after Easter. Every store I visited had zilch. Next year, for sure.
Thanks. Here in the Netherlands, they had easter egg dye for weeks after easter. I had just enough to dye all the wool I ordered.
Hi ya’ll! I used to post here a while back and then life got away from me. I’ve been dying my own sock yarn for a little while and thought I’d contribute to the thread…

Maybe I like pink, black and blue, no?

Melanie
wow melanie! you have some seriously pretty yarn! i love those:heart: i like how the pink and blue yarns look, are they gradient dyed?
J- I hand painted with several different shades of each color. I just put the dye on kinda random, so it’s not a gradient type thing.
those are absolutely gorgeous!
those top 2 would make some great punk socks. :teehee:
Lieke~ Very Pretty!!
melaniedc~ I love that pink and black… very pretty colors…
Here is something I did awhile back… finally got the pictures on the computer… I dyed it with a friend in mind… my dh called it the happy yarn…:rofling:
