I came across this pattern , and I am really skeptical if is real. I just don’t want to buy it and it is totally different from the picture, and the instructions are just not right.
What do you guys think?
Thanks

I think it’s a Vogue pattern. I wonder if the one who listed it has the right to sell it. I’d be really concerned about that. Fifth from the top thumbnail.

There are a LOT of copyright infringement sellers on etsy.
This seller on ravelry has a dodgy website link which reads a a knit site but isn’t. I don’t know if they are the original designer or not but the ravelry page at least links to the vogue errata needed for medium size and lists the 2 vogue publications this is in.
It’s in this vogue mag
Which you might want to buy instead, from vogue, as there are many lovely patterns listed for just a few dollars more
Or it’s also in another with 40 patterns for another couple of dollars
You can find the list and pics of patterns in the publication on ravelry
I seriously don’t like patterns bought from ebay. In many cases they are taken without authorization and the designers have very little recourse. There’s no support from the seller who is often not even a knitter.
We’ve had questions about this pattern which comes with several charts before.
I’m glad you made this point! I don’t like ebay either. I think I bought one thing on ebay years ago. That was the only listing I could find showing it should be under copyright. I guess I should have said something like that.
Thanks for all the inputs. I will check on vogue site.
I will avoid eBay. What about Ravelry and Etsy?
Etsy is the problem site as far as knitting patterns go. I haven’t any experience of patterns on Ebay. Ravelry is the go-to site for patterns and designers although not the only place to look.
Okie. Ty
Did you mean ebay or etsy here?
I won’t buy anything at all on etsy which is a shame for the legit people who sell there.
Ravelry should be fine and the designer listed for the pattern you like is most prob the legit designer. My caution sensors just went up after visiting etsy to see your link, and then the legit designer has perhaps not maintained their website link, which just made me question it because i was in that untrusting frame of mind.
Whilst I don’t like AI in general the ability to search with google lense is useful. A pic from a copyright infringement advert on etsy can often be used to find the original pattern and buy it, or get it for free, from the real designer or publisher.
Good grief, yes, Etsy knitting patterns are the ones that are problematical. The jury is still out on Ebay but in both cases there are an overwhelming number of legitimate sellers. Check with Ravelry on the knitting patterns however.
Thanks. I got the single pattern from Vogue for $6. It is not as good deal as buying one magazine, but I think is good to try out first. ![]()
Thanks
It’s very pretty
I bought a cross stitch pattern from Etsy once and while it was a workable pattern and I did make something pretty out of it, it was clear that the seller wasn’t a cross stitcher themselves. Once printed, the squares for the pattern were too small for a highlighter, making it annoying to update as I progressed, the 10x10 gridding wasn’t contrasted enough to be visible while working so I had to retrace that, and the color distribution was complete confetti
I’m guessing they digitalized a photo instead of actually designing something that made sense for the craft. And that was before the “AI” invasion… I wouldn’t buy a pattern for anything on Etsy unless it had several comments with pictures from other people who have already done it…
