question about 3rd row: k6. (K2tog. yo) twice. K7
Rep from *7timed more. (K2tog. yo) 3times. K5

I’m I understanding this right
K6. *(K2tog, yo) 2x more. K7
Rep from * 7 x more *(K2tog, yo). 2x, K7
(K2tog, yo) 2x, k6

This is the pattern

Cast on 104 stitches (don not join)

K3 rows (garter sits), noting first row is (WS)

Proceed in pat as follows:

1st Row: (RS) k7. * ktog. yo. K9. Rep from * 7 times more. K2tog. yo. K7

2nd row and alt rows: k2. Purl yo last 2 stitches. K2

3rd row: k6 *)K2tog. yo) twice.

For the 3rd row:
3rd row: K6. *(K2tog. yo) twice. K7. Rep from * 7 times more. (K2tog. yo) twice. K6.

It adds up to 104sts. Eleven sts in the repeat times 8 (88sts) plus 6sts before the repeat and 10sts after the repeat.

The problem may be with the yarn overs. A yarn over doesn’t use up a stitch. You just bring the yarn to the front between the needles then over the yarn to the back. That’s it. No stitch used up.

Markers may help keep track of the repeats.

Question
At the beginning of my knitting row I have a huge loop.
How do I get rid of that and make the first sts smaller upon starting the next row?

Question

I have started this pattern so many times that I’m finding it frustrating.

It’s the third row that is causing me headaches.

Row 3: (K2tog) three times, (yo, k1) 6 times (K2tog) three times; repeat from * to end.

Sometimes a large loop forms from the last stitch of the previous row but it usually works its way into the stitches next to it. Can you post a photo of your knitting and the loop?

Markers may help keep track of this pattern. If you place them every 6sts, between the decreases, the increases and the second set of decreases it’s a reminder and it keeps the pattern on track. The easiest mistake is to forget that there are 3 decreases at the end of the repeat and another 3 at the beginning, so 6 decreases next to each other.

C.O. 72 stitches

Rows one and two knit

Row 3 is my concern. When I do the math I should end up with a 90 stitches therefore there should be 18 more stitches upon completing row three. Is the math correct? My mistakes are in the yo.

Row 4: P

Repeat pattern with 90 sts ( is this correct)???

Row 3 - I went from 90 sts to 108 sts now I am at 135 sts.
Does the 3rd row keep increasing in stitches?
Yes I am using makers.
K2tog equals 3 sts; then yo, k1 equals 12 (total stitches equal 15. Repeat

The repeat from the beginning of the row is 18sts. There are 6 decreases and 6 increases so the stitch count stays the same.
If you start the repeat with 90sts you’ll also end with 90sts.

Here’s a video for Old Shale:

Row 3 starts at about 2:30min.

The video link was so helpful.
Now I see exactly where I went wrong.
Thank you for your patience.
