. I’m sorry. I am also standing in prayer asking that this is an effective surgery and that the Dr’s hands are guided throughout, also that you and your family are taken care of in a most respectful way by all. If there is anything else you need specific prayer for please don’t hesitate to ask.

I am waiting for a hysterectomy and I cant wait to be honest to be relieved of this pain and misery.

I started with severe cramps since my first period 20 years ago. So for me it was just ‘normal’ to feel that way. My mother told me that she and my aunt had bad cramps and they went away after they had children. :roll: She never questioned my pain. That kinda irritates me but what can you do when people are ignorant and you’re an adolecent. I’ll never forget that day for as long as I live. It seems like yesterday that it happened. Lying on the couch rolling in pain, nothing helped and Ibuprofen wasn’t known (at least in my house) as a cramp reliever. :verysad:
It wasn’t until last April when we went home for my brothers wedding and my sil’s friend who stood up in the wedding with me asked me if I had it. (I had just gotten my period when we went home so I was miserable) I couldn’t even stand during the rehersal, I had to sit in a chair. :oops: I felt so stupid. But when I told her my symptoms she told me about her experience and that she too had a laparoscopy.
That’s when I went to the library and did some research on the disease and realized that I had it. I told my doctor and she started me on Lupron shots and that helped soooooo much and she said that since the Lupron worked that I ‘probably’ had it, and now we’re onto the surgery as it has returned. :verysad:
The amazing thing is that the women who have the most severe pain end up having little to no endo and the women who have little pain usually have the most endo. Now that’s not true in every case, but from all the things I’ve read, it just seems to be that way… :roll:
Thanks so much!! i totally know what you mean about people not understanding the pain one goes through(I always tell my mom how I should get checked but she ignores me :S she’ll just say sure and thats that)…but i’m really concerned about my periods because i’m so irregular(I get them every 2 or 3 months), and i’ve been irregular since day 1, but I get cramps about a week or 2 weeks before I get my period, I get terrible pain and cramps and the rest of the symptoms when I have it, and it lasts the full 7 days, and sometimes after the period i get cramps… :S and nothing works with me either, I was given ponstan on one occassion and midol on another occassion and both pills just exacerbated the pain making me tremble like crazy and dizzy…maybe I should get checked up…I’d just hate to find out that I have endo or something else…
Mo0nAngel you should get checked. I left mine and by chance found it out. I had a dvt clot on my leg. They took a blood test and said I was severely anemic and when perscribing the warfarin were worried about my bleeding. So sent me for a scan and found it out. I could have had the hysterectomy a couple of years ago avoiding all the problems and pain.
I would definately get it checked out. They may be able to help you and prevent some of this pain.

Oh my… it sounds like you are going through a very trying time. I admire your courage and strength so much. For you, it’s probably just something you are used to dealing with but for me, it’s an incredible feat of courage!
I wish you all the best on your surgery. I’m sorry that you are not pregnant after all… does having this affect your fertility at all? You’ll be in my thoughts. Here’s wishing you lots of luck on the surgery and a speedy recovery!
Hi there! I, too, suffer from endometriosis. I was diagnosed with it at 20. I’ve had two laparoscopy surgeries; they weren’t too bad. My cramps and the horrible pain that I suffered with for so many years, being on Danocrine and pain-killers, has gotten significantly better now that I’m older. Thank God! I went through hell every month with horrible pain to the point that I would be doubled-over in pain. Even had a few trips to the ER before they figured out what it was.
I’ll be thinking about you. It will be good to get this taken care of and you’ll be feeling better.

As far as the fertility goes, it really depends on the person. Some women with Stage 4 endo (that’s the worst) have gotten pregnant prior to surgeries…so it is possible. But all of the books say that it does cause infertility.
Especially with those women who have it on their tubes and ovaries preventing them from ovulating. I’m not sure if it’s causing infertility with us/me. Only because this was the first month off of bcp’s. I’ll find out next friday. I really wish I could have had it yesterday, but I guess there’s a reason I wasn’t supposed too… :verysad:

Yes, definitely go to the doctor. It took me 20 years, well, 19 before I went and got help. I’ve always been a 28-day cycle girl. Only one time was I late 9 days, no clue why. I have the terrible cramps, bloating beyond belief, this month my back hurt (strange :?? ). I also have this awful pain in my mid-abdomen. It is so hard for me to describe to anyone its just this ache that won’t let me stand for any short/long period of time. And the yucky one, my bowels. It’s like someone is knifing me in the stomach. Ugh, sorry for TMI. :oops: This goes on for 2 days.
I’m just one of the lucky ones whose doctor actually listens to me. She talks quite fast, :teehee: but she is the nicest lady.
I’m the one who asked to have the surgery before my next cycle and she was all for it, didn’t try and talk me out of it at all or try pushing pills or something else on me.

I completely undertstand. Docs thought I had endo, and I had a 4cm cyst that had to be drained laparoscopically, so they checked while they were in-- no endo. I started the 13 wk cycle pill-- Seasonale-- and it greatly helped my cramps. They’re still around, but tolerable most of the time. That and 4 times/yr is much easier to deal with. We want to have children in the next 5 years or so- but then I’m on to a partial hysterectomy. Too many problems run in my family- mostly cancer. It’s better to be safe.

Hi everyone. I’m still alive, but in quite a bit of pain. I had my surgery yesterday morning and YEAH!!! I didn’t throw up at all! :cheering: :cheering: All that worrying for nothing. I had 3 incisions one just under my belly button and two in the ‘lower’ region, if you will. TMI, I know, sorry. 
The belly button one hurts like a bit#h. That’s why I can’t sit up for too long of periods.
She did find some endo, I’m not sure how much, I get to see pictures at my post-op on the 4th. She is the world’s best doctor. She held my had while the anethstesiologist was poking my hand with needles. What kind of doctor does that?? MINE! :cheering:
She did say I had some on my appendix. :?? Who knew it could grow there. I hate this disease.
I just wanted to let you all know that I’m hanging in there and hope to be back on the boards in a few more days. It’s kinda painful sitting up for even a short amount of time. So I’m off to my comfy bed…bye.

thats so nice that she held your hand!! when I was having my little girl I was more afraid of the spinal than the c-section… my dr came in and held my hand while they did the spinal and repeated the Lord’s prayer with me… its always nice when you have a dr that cares…
