OMG! The "Amy Project"!

I posted something here once recently, and posted my personal blog…something about my sweet Nana…and something made me go check…and I TOTALLY forgot about my contribution was on my blog. It was on for about 30 seconds before I pulled it off…I think I got a few grey hairs on that one!!!

I do believe they mean Silver (different that silveridge)

 And Let me just say it was fun, the site will remain active for a while, then I’ll just archive it to CD and take it down

are you talking about the flowers? that one was Silver’s and i believe it was her own creation if i remember correctly.

No, Silver, not Silveridger. You can probably PM her if you want!

I swear that at 2:55 I heard a huge sigh of relief from the TAP people hehehe
:roflhard:

You heard that too eh?!

YAYYYYYYYYYY!!!

I’m all teary now!

Amy–you look adorable, and we have WAITED so long (3 days) for you to get this!!! I thouht we’d burst— but it was all worth anything we manged to do just to see that look on your face. You look like a long / lanky /lovely kitten in your big big bankie!! Enjoy!

What a sweet, wonderful, special AND FABULOUS gift!!! What a terrific group of ladies! Thanks for sharing this with us!

I’m so happy you got it!!! I was about to burst waiting for you to get it and see your expression! I’m so proud of my fellow knitters who just wholeheartedly and without hesitation joined the efforts! And bravo to the seamers on a job very well done!

And OMG, this was one of the hardest secrets to keep! And considering what a chatty bunch we are, it’s amazing that no one slipped!

Anyway, we    you Amy!!! It was just a pleasure and honor to knit a square for your afghan!

Thank you Fibergirl! I feel so loved, completely and truly!

KellyK, holy maceral, you organized all this?!! Kelly, what can I say?! Thank you!!!

Hildy and Julie and Kelly, thank you so much for conceiving this, and bringing it into life! You’ve created something that I will feel uplifted by for the rest of my life. It’s weird to say this outloud…but today I feel I could die a perfectly contented woman. Do you know what I mean? The love around me is so tangible, I feel like if i were to die right now, I wouldn’t even be scared. That’s how incredible this is. I thank you from my deepest spiritual place. I really feel the peace and love in this project! What an amazing gift!

I’m still soaking this all in, it’s just so amazing! I’ve been over at the other website, I can’t believe all that went into this! This is me:

Dave, you did SUCH an amazing job with that forum, all the color-coded profiles and stats and all, wow, nice job!!! Sure you don’t want to keep it up? If you wanted to keep it as a home for charitable knitting projects, or for other charitable works, I’d be HONORED to have my name associated with anything y’all did there! Of course, I’m honored ALREADY, so no pressure! THANK YOU!!!

I can’t believe the quality and care of the whole package I received today, with a CD with a PDF of all the squares, and a nice note from everyone, what a presentation!!

Silver, your graphic work is incredible, as always! So is your square! I posted on your thread about it. Thank you Sil!

Dotmom, Julie, VickyL, MaryB, Andrea, Kelly and Hildie, thank you for doing all the seaming!

Oh my goodness, I know that I can only conceive of about 1/4 of the work that went into this. I’m still in awe!! Thank you everyone!!

OH WOW!!!

HA HA HA THIS IS SO WONDERFUL… IT’S LIKE LOVE RUNNETH OVER!

I just got home from shopping and ran right up here to see if it really arrived and LOOK AT THOSE ADORABLE PICTURES!

Amy you are so pretty in those pix and just look great with your new afghan. Yeah, I was so pleased to be part of this project and I never did thank
NORMAN for that great website and all that work (and believe me it’s work coz I can’t even figure any thing out about a website).

I’ve thanked Kelly many times and what super seamers! I wanted to be there! WHAT AN IDEA and how great is it that you have a new afghan to go with your new house! I loved looking for a design and I love the one I found but also some others have really inspired me to make my own afghan! (man I had no idea how big that thing was)

WHAT A GREAT PROJECT/IDEA!!!!!

Enjoy Amy as I know you will. You really deserve it!

love, Vic Victoise Viki :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:

Awww, I’m getting all teary reading this. Amy, your pics are the best…give Sheldon a big THANK YOU for the pics.

I’m glad you’re enjoying your gift - you deserve it. The afghan is just a small token of all the wonderful things you’ve given us KH knitters. So, draw up a cup of tea, wrap yourself in your new afghan, and remember how much we all love you, chica.

Yea Amy! You got it. I was so happy that Kelly and the others had come up with this wonderful idea! And Dave, with the website! It was truly amazing with the stats and keeping track of who did what square and in what color so it would be an even distribution of colors! That thing turned out huge!!! :happydance:

We all, even those not involved in the project (which includes me because I had to bow out), wanted to say how important you are in the knitting world. You brought this great site to us and taught 100s of people how to knit just by watching your videos. You brought 1000s of people together not just to write back and forth about knitting but about their lives. You got people together in states like Illinois meeting other fellow knitters out there and making long-lasting friendships between people that might never have met otherwise.

You are a truly amazing woman Amy  and this is just a small token to say thank you from all of the people involved. Thanks again to everyone who made the afghan. It was beautiful! Silver, I am always in awe of your amazing handiwork. Your square was beautiful. As were all of the others that I saw through the pictures that Sheldon so lovingly took of the happy moment.

Anyway, this got long. Glad it got to you and glad that you liked it. Glad we can finally talk about it!!! We’d like to see more pictures of each square up close if you are willing to take more pictures!

Those pictures capture all your emotions…they are so priceless! So gald you love it, Amy!

We had so much fun with it!! We love you!

Amy -

I’m so glad to have participated in the secret project! It was an honor to actually have a small part in creating something for you!! The pictures are wonderful and kudos to all the gals who actually seamed it all up! It is so BIG!! Enjoy it and congratulations on your new home!!! Lots of exciting things for you this month!!!

I am SOOOOO happy you got your big box today, Amy!! I, too, have been stalking the forum(s) and the USPS site, but I had to leave this afternoon & only now got a chance to check in to see what transpired. I love the play-by-play pictures Sheldon took. We all wanted to be there to watch you open it, and, well, it was almost like we were there.

It’s been such a blast working on this project. I had the honor of hosting the seaming party, and I can’t tell you how much fun it was working with the group that pulled it all together.

Each and every person that made a square for this was so conscientious about choosing their pattern so that it had meaning. It’s just impossible to put it all into words.

If you ever had the time, you would probably find lots of “hints” dropped throughout this forum re: the project. It’s been pretty humorous watching everyone bite their tongues!

Mostly, I’m just very honored and humbled to be a part of all of this. Kelly did a fantastic job of organizing it all. Dave, as everyone has said, we couldn’t have lived without 'cause we were trying to communicate by email, and that was going to turn into a nightmare! And all of the camaraderie and “mentoring” that went on in the forum cannot be matched anywhere!

 Thanks, Amy, for bringing us all together!!

I never suspected a thing!! And I read almost everything. You guys are so awesome… I only wish I would’ve known. I would’ve loved to participate. Sounds like it was such a fun project!!!

Yeah, we were pretty sneaky, eh? There were some discussions, though, about Howie, Maggie and Andrea that were getting pretty darn close to spilling the beans!

Oh, and someone mentioned wanting to see close-ups of the squares. They are all posted on The Amy Project forum in the General Discussion: Finished Squares topic

I gotta admit…i mentioned the project i was working on that was was making me pull my hair out on this forum several times, and it made me giggle every time i did it!

i think all of us that worked on this project have a little less hair than we use to have when we started but i don’t think any of us regret it a bit!

i can’t stop coming in this thread to look at the pics and showing them to people who aren’t nearly as excited about it as i am! :rofling:

tries not to giggle at the typo found elsewhere in that post

Actually, there are only 32 squares posted in that thread. But it’s definitely a good start.
I really enjoyed working on this project, and Amy’s reaction definitely brought a smile to my face. It’s so gratifying to see everything brought together and the recipient reacting to wonderfully. Many hugs to everyone who participated in this in any way.
