NOVEMBER What'cha knitting?

This was supposed to be MY slouchyhat - but it fits my 4yr old son perfectly.

 Very cool!

Haha! I love it!! What a fun way to keep his face warm on the slopes!

Me too on the kids getting the hats. My daughter Erin got two hats not originally meant for her this month. She seems to have a face for hats–everything seems to look best on her!

Doorstop for mum

My jumper

Blue fabric will be an infinity scary for my neighbour, pink/purple is a headband

Start of the springbok hat that Jan was so kind to help me with

What’s an infinity scary? Lots of projects there! Looks good!

Forgot one! The cupcake will be a keyring for my little sister, and the snowman is for my cousin, the white blob on the right is the body for a little polar bear for my cousins kids

@Jan_in_CA :joy: :joy: poxy phones and their predictive text!! That should say infinty scarF lmao

Your mum’s gift is progressing well, can’t wait to see the FO. Love that pink/purple yarn, what is it? my g’daughters would love something in that

It’s a lovely looking hat all the same :relaxed:

He’s a STAR :dizzy: I’ll bet there’s a lot of fun as well as tuition on the slopes with him as your instructor :ski:

Thank you x, a lot of them are long term projects that I pick up and put down as and when (10 stitch, pouffe cover,2nd sock… grr) they’ll get there eventually. I’ve been busy with lace projects all summer thanks to the 2016 British Banter Group lace challenge on rav and now, I’ve a yen for cables!! lol

Wow, what a November! So many fun projects finished and in progress.
@vaknitter, the beard is too much. Fantastic looking (and practical). Lovely hat too for your lucky 4-year old.
@Evie, you are a busy woman. It’s such a delight to see so many interesting and intriguing gifts in process. I’m glad that there’s a sweater in there for you, too.
@notknittingknots, I love to see cables so I’m glad your yen for them has led to this sweater. It’s going to be gorgeous.

I have just finished my King Cole jumper for my daughter with Alpaca wool. I am praying that its not itchy and that I can figure out how to sew it up, they don’t use a comma I notice. How would anyone else sew a jumper up. I have steamed it flat so waiting for the sun to come out, Valencia we have had rain funnels and boats have been stuck in the sea. So hopefully come the weekend I will get some light. The number of the pattern s 38 38 King Cole. All will appear simple I think when I get going. Will post when completed. I have got to the state now that it is winter I really need something to do with my hands and have posted a help for a head band - perhaps someone can help.

We should be taking photos and uploading them its fun to see what garments come out like with the wool chosen etc. I think I told you on the forum that this was a coat I found on the market which is just dumped onto a table and you rumble through it. It unpicked easy and have enough for another sweater, and yes, I will do the same pattern again…

Years ago, patterns weren’t hard to undersrand were they or am I getting old and slightly senile je je

I’m sorry I don’t know, it came in a bag of odds and ends I got from a lady who was downsizing her stash at request of her husband who wanted the spare room back!

Oh! I remember you saying up thread,no probs. Just as well actually as I have enough on my plate to keep me going for the next 12 months already :relaxed:

Mattress stitch makes a nice, nearly invisible seam. It’s especially useful on long side seams but it’s possible to use it around sleeves too.

Maybe this is the pattern?

Hi, I don’t even know how many projects I have going on that I ditched… well, I crochet for 3 years now so you can imagine what it looks like in my yarn/projects closet. A mess.
But for knitting:

  1. I tried a hat for my boyfriend which I almost finished in circular needles… till I had to start decreasing and I realized I had no clue how to go on (dpns, apparently). So I parked that in the closet till I get good with those.
  2. I also tried fingerless mittens and made a mess. I made one and didnĀ“t like it at all. I am now looking for a nice, simple, mitten (not fingerless) pattern. Could be that the pattern was not nice, but I think it was just me, since I was practicing with the dpns. If you know of a simple pattern I could use… in 1 color will do. I cannot do intarsia yet.
  3. Made a mug cozy for a friend at work. That looked lovely. I hope I took a pic before giving it to her so I can show you tomorrow. It was my ā€œfirst knitted thingā€ I actually finished and liked, so it was big for me.
  4. I started a sweater (pattern from Etsy) a while ago but could not figure it out immediately. By now I finished sleeves and 1 side (front and back are the same). Reassured in this forum (thanks again!!) that I had shaped the shoulders right, I am now about to embark in making the other side. Whichever looks nicer will be the front. And then I’ll have to seam it up and I’ve never done that… scary times ahead.

I hope to upload photos tomorrow with nice light, and sorry about the super long message.

Gosh, I had no idea how difficult it was to find a simple, free mitten pattern. Here’s one that’s sounds pretty basic. You do have to work increases and decreases and it’s worked on dpns although you could use magic loop. See how it sounds to you.

I admire you for going for all the different patterns that you’ve tried. They all sound like excellent projects. Maybe we can help you finish some?
