Knit Picks’ CITY TWEED makes me want to knit another Central Park Hoodie!
I love donegal tweeds, but they tend to be itchy!
KnitPicks CITY TWEED heavy worsted is 55% Merino wool, 25% superfine alpaca, 20% Donegal tweed. And, 164 generous yards!!! In 14 diverse colors!
I’m in mad love with LEMON CURD! So hard to find good yellows. I’ve been searching for an adult yellow ever since the Seinfeld episode when Elaine was wearing a fabulous yellow cabled sweater at the restaurant!
KnitPicks CITY TWEED is also available in a dk weight!
123 yards per skein, and 14 diverse colors!
The color cards for each are 80605 (worsted colors) and 80604 (dk colors) but you have to call them to get the color cards. Their website isn’t displaying the color cards yet. I purchased 12 sk of Snowshoeplus the two color cards via telephone a minute ago.
I’m anxiously waiting to “see” Lemon Curd and Tabby when the color cards get here! Wouldn’t the 3 colors make a divine blanket?
Or tri-color sweater?
I can visualize a cardigan in the heavy worsted, and a matching
pullover or tank in the dk! Oh, don’t get me started!
I’m supposed to be on the 2009 Stash Train, with no stops for food! Well, I have some REWARD yarn coming to me! (myself allowing myself to get new yarn after using up a bunch of stash!)

Central Park Hoodieneeds 1647 yds for a size 44" finished bust.
That translates to 10.04 skeins of CITY TWEED heavy worsted, 11 skeins to be on the safe side. That translates to a cost of about $80-$88 for an outrageous hooded size 44 jacket!
Another great hoodie, similar to CPH, but better cables ( more interesting, but still considered EZ cables) is from CHIC. By Bonnie M. Burns. It takes 11 sk for the size 46". It has more shape to it. It is wonderful. It is called TWIST. I downloaded this PDF pattern a while back, and the more I think about it, the more I’m interested in it for a KAL! I’m knitting TWIST in Snowshoe and maybe the hoodless version in Lemon Curd! I’ll be ready for September!
"TWIST"cabled cardigan!
Same length as CPH, about 24". Oy! I love it!
The pattern gives specs for both a hooded version,
and a ‘collar only’ version! That’s cool!
Anyone interested in a KAL for the TWIST hooded cardi?
I AM going to make it, and would be happy to help you knit it, too! Just get your yarn together, and your PDF pattern.
This could be a KAL as soon as you like! Even if there is just two of us!
